^ Mercury Prize 2011 Nominations are in! I expect we'll see Katy B, Tinie Tempah and Adele all experience some sales - hopefully Metronomy, Everything Everything and James Blake can too!

As for who I'd like to win - I think Everything Everything would make a nice addition to the winner's list. Adele and Tempah are far too obvious choices.

I wonder if The Mercury winner will get to number 1 a'la XX last year, I'd imagine it wouldn't be Adele, they don't often pick a hugely successful, it would be quite under the radar, I reckon PJ Harvey or James Blake are good bets

still, most should get a boost in sales, I'd imagine it would boost Adele's sales anyway even if she doesn't win :drama:

The xx only got to #3 :P

It'll almost certainly be PJ Harvey, the album just screams 'this will win the Mercury' as The xx did last year. Could re-peak (also a la The xx :P).

Great nominations there, ones in bold never heard off, most likely one of those will win.

If I have to choose 1 album to win it be PJ Harvey. Personally its wide open. Other contenders could come from Adele, James Blake, Metronomy, Katy B.

LMFAO at #5 in the albums is not really surprising. It's Amazon's £3.99 album of the week and whatever album they have on offer always does comparatively well (see The Horrors last week for instance).

LMFAO's album also got to #2 in Australia, so I thought based on that they could do well here.

Not to mention, they've gathered a LOT of fans already. They're so popular amongst people my age atm.

They're so popular? Or Party Rock Anthem is so popular?

Are you not embarrassed to have an XF reject and shame in your signature?

Excuse me ?

According to Facebook, they are popular. Seriously, the title of every photo album that gets uploaded now is the name of one of the songs from their album. :drama: They've even got branded clothes and everything.

They're all 19 though, and many of them are at their first year at University. They've done nothing except go partying for the past 8 months, so no wonder they like LMFAO. It's strange though, because I remember those very same people being obsessed with Linkin Park and 50 Cent when they were like 13 years old. It's amazing how much their music tastes have changed over the years really. And they're going the opposite way to what you'd except tbh, considering they're getting older. Maybe by the time they're 25 they'll be Britney Spears fans again.

As a big fan, I hope Kylie's boxset does well but I won't be buying it - I just don't have the tenner to spare at the moment on a pretty box

Oh it is worth it, great packaging for fans. Though I am not sure what its appeal will be outside the core fanbase. Most casual fans wouldn't want to buy 5 albums in one go. They would rather have had a Parlophone GH one disc set I think.

The most exciting thing in the midweeks for me is that The Pierces are back in the Top 20!!! Wahoo :cheer:

How did that happen?

Kylie is alot higher than i thought she wopuld be in the albums, but i think it will probably drop through out the week as alot of hardcore fans would have bought it on release day.

I'd be happy if it stayed at #11, but how great would it be if it could sneak into the top 10 this week, would be incredible.

Its climbed every single week, I think its gone #25 - #23 - #21 - #12 - #11 - ? So could it be a 6th consectutive week of a climb? Hope so, so close on iTunes right now and it'd get such a great boost when it hits #10!

And top 3 albums hope it stays that way for a while yet.

wonder if any song from the new C&S album would have flopped as people move to buy the album now or is it just the poorness of hitz??i just cant warm to it, thought tinie would have helped it though, my least fav release from the album!!

Yeah i know what you mean about not being able to warm to it, it's not that it's a bad song, it just lacks a decent hook and a memorable chorus - it would be nice if the chorus had a proper melody.
