Are you just going to say that or are you going to give an example? I can't think of any songs that have utilised a sample in a more clunky and unappealing way.

Um, every single Black Eyed Peas single (apart from Where is the Love?, Just Can't Get Enough and Don't Stop the Party).

But I'm not even sure if I should pursue this conversation. To see people say such horrific things about such a magnificant song. It really breaks my heart, and makes me fear for the future of this community. Can Buzzjack be treated seriously anymore?

I thought you liked BEP?

I do. The best hip hop/pop group of our generation imo.

But they use a sample in nearly every song they've ever done. Surely one of them is done worse than No Love?

Nicki Minaj is now at #8 on iTunes :o I am actually surprised. I thought the top 10 effect was a bit of a myth to be honest. But now I think otherwise. It's been 11-16 on iTunes FOREVER so I'm surprised it's suddenly speeding up the chart. Maybe it's going to suffer the Dev curse where it gets to a peak of about #7 then starts dropping till it freefalls. I doubt it though. I hope her next song 'Fly' with Rihanna charts just as well!

Not really. Their samples are normally too subtle to notice whether they're badly done or not (probably because they're instrumental samples rather than vocal ones). And their interpolation of (I've Had) The Time Of My Life was done fairly well IMO.

To be fair it going to #8 is not so much a case of the top 10 effect, it's just that 8-10 have been ridiculously close for weeks. Pitbull/Calvin/Katy (and more recently Amy) keep swapping because there's so little in it and none of them can make a convincing lead.

But anyway, you can't really deny that the top 10 effect exists because it affects about 95% of songs that go top 10. (There are some exceptions though, such as Muse's Uprising which crawled up the chart, eventually got to #10 and IIRC never got any higher than that before falling out again)

Skinny Love by Birdy also peaked at #10 on iTunes. I hardly ever see it happen though.

There was also one N-Dubz song, which peaked at #10 on iTunes, because literally as soon as it got top 10 another song climbed into the top 10 and kicked it out. Gutted for them tbh. Although it was quite amausing. It was Best Behaviour or Girls. I actually quite like both of those songs.

And while we're on the subject of "Girls", I noticed the other day, that Girls by N-Dubz and Motivation by Kelly Rowland are rather similar! :o Tulisa and Kelly should perform a mash-up on the X Factor.

And whilst we're on similarities between X Factor judges songs, Nicole and Cheryl should perform a 3 Words/Heartbeat mash-up! That'd get the press talking about them again.

And interestingly, Kelly Rowland get's drawn into 3 Words aswell, because Cheryl Cole said in an interview that 3 Words was inspired by When Love Takes Over!

Yes! Cinema up to #61 :yahoo:
Jay-Z & Kanye's 'Watch the Throne' is already number 9 on the albums chart, pre-orders alone! :o

Does that sample Otis Redding?

Does that sample Otis Redding?
No. It's the album, Josh :P The song 'Otis' is the one that samples Otis Redding (it's currently #69 - well it's not as the feed I've just opened has just reverted, as Amy W is #7, Pitbull #8, Katy #9, Calvin #10 and Nicki #11 etc... - so it could be higher or lower by now.)

Ar man I'm so out of touch with the charts. I'll have to check all this shizzle out.

Well it's actually #44 now! :o

EDIT: Nicki #8, #76 & #192

Last update on Nicki from me. I'm just ecstatic she's made top 10, finally  Hope she can have some lasting appeal inside there and doesn't "do a Dev" :(

oh god nicki minaj in the top 10 :(

She isn't out of the top ten. iTunes has just reverted. It will fix it self soon.

No he said "in the top 10 :(" I agree entirely :kink:

I'm not too crazy about Super Bass either but if it will Nicki's first top ten so be it.

Shuffle up to 195! hope it re-peaks officially!

Also, is that CM Punk's entrance theme in the top 100?

(not that I'm complaining though)

Yes! :D I didn't realise so many people in the UK actually cared about the WWE so much anymore haha.

'Super Bass' now #7!

'Set Fire to The Rain' is now #10!!!!

'Back to Black' is down to #12 but 'Tears Dry On Their Own' is still at #24. Do we think had BTB not been 59p, TDOTO could have been the one to lead the pack? :o

 10. Set Fire to the Rain - ADELE

YES!!! :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: This to get top 10 boost RIGHT NOW

(Although I could see this ending up #11 officially again this week anyway before finally breaking the official top 10 next week)
