Just the Way You Are is a vile song, and perfectly demonstrates all that's wrong with the music industry today (in my opinion).

1) Man has looks which will appeal to a certain 'target market'

2) Man creates image that will appeal to that market

3) Man writes song to appeal to that market

Today? That's been happening for such a long time. It would make far less sense for him to do anything else.

That's true. And well done to him, to be fair, because he's certainly done that very well. But there's more about that song that annoys me really.

Firstly, the songs seems solely made to be radio friendly and become a classic. I hate that, because it usually means the song ends up being old-fashioned, cheesy and boring. In the future, when people hear that song, they won't have a clue whether it got released in 1960 or 2020. At least with a song like Pass Out, it represents the British music scene of this time period.

Secondly, the song is a perfect example of sexism in today's music industry. Imagine Rihanna releasing that song (except with the gender references swapped around). She'd be a laughing stock "When I see your face blah blah boy you're amazing, just the way you arrrrrrrrrrrrre". She'd be ridiculed for that. Why can Bruno get away with it, but females can't?

Thirdly, and WORST of all imo, the song is deluding these innocent young girls, and is totally fake. I'm sorry, but no girl will ever meet a guy like the one in the song. They just don't exist. Yeah, girls like to imagine that a boy will look at their face and fall in love with them, but in reality, there's like a dozen other body parts males are interested in aswell. Girls should wake up and go to the real world, and listen to songs like OMG, Sexy Bitch, Ayo Technology, I Wanna Love You, Sweat, Smack That, etc, but puke-worthy Just the Way You Are. These poor little girls are going to have a huge shock in a few years when they find out what guys are really like. And it's so hypocritical of Bruno aswell. He probably wrote that song, and then went and watched a porn movie a few hours after like everybody else does.

I can't stand that song. Baby is better.

The Saturdays new song All Fired Up premieres before half 6 on Radio 1 :D It's not OA/OS though, it's out on September 4, so should peak higher than Notorious, even if it doesn't sell as much!
The New Saturdays song is awful.

Is the love affair over? :drama:

I love it  So much better than Notorious imo! Gonna get SO much stick though, I just know it!

EDIT: Am I a bigger Sats loon than Lee now then? I have all the albums, watched Popstar To Operastar JUST for Vanessa and even loved Forever Is Over! :o :P

It's repetitve. I can't understand what they're saying and the chorus is awful. Here we go Wordshaker Part 2, Uhhh i can't believe they're releasing this song! I want a decent chorus. Not a crap repetive chorus. All fired up repeats itself so much, It's not as repetitive as Glad You Came.

Very dissapointed it's really messy.

Edit: I did the same for Popstar to Oprastar for Vanessa and liked Forever Is Over aswell.

Thanks for that Lee  I can listen again and again now! :P

Up >> All Fired Up > Higher >>> Ego >>> Notorious

Notorious is still a 9/10 tbh.

The New Saturdays song is awful.

:o :o :o :o :o

I haven't heard it yet, but never expected you to say that!

My least favourite song from them might be Forever Is Over. It was so ironic when Oopsy Daisy beat it to #1.

Especially when a line in the song references The Saturdays!

Yeah. He mentions their song, Issues aswell.

And they were supposed to sing the hook to Oopsy Daisy, but they pulled out because they wanted to focus on promoting Forever Is Over (to get it to #1).

I'm so glad Oopsy Daisy got #1 though. I think it's such a better song imo. Although it would probably flop if it was released now. People don't like that sort of song anymore. :(

it appears The Saturdays have totally succumbed to the power of autotune :( their vocals are unbelievable, nonetheless I don't mind the song, sounds very different for them, better than Notorious anyhow
Guess I'm one of the only ones who actually thinks The Sats new one is decent. Better than Notorious by FAR and Sounds like a Summer smasher to me.
How on earth is "Grenade" worse than "Baby"?

I agree, "Baby" and the rest of JB's songs are just all boring IMO. I always laugh at the "Ow ow ow" bit at the start of "Baby", it's just so awful.

Same, Friday is genuinely amazing

It is .

I don't understand the hate it gets.

I agree about this, I think it's a really good song, although I understand why people wouldn't like it.

I also find teenage girls to be more annoying about Bruno than Justin Bieber. It might be because I'm a bit older, but I don't know any girls that are obsessed with Justin, but even girls I know in their early 20's love Bruno after Just the Way You Are. I feel sorry for them really. What pathetic behaviour.

I agree about it, although my 81 year old Great Grandmother's reaction to JTWYA was, I'm sad to say, the exact same.

She also loves anything to do with Cee Lo. You and her would not get along .

I can't say I'm surprised tbh. The music that Bruno and Cee-Lo put out is probably not a whole lot different to what was around when your Great-Grandmother liked when she was young.

I like Bright Lights, Bigger City though, so if me and your Great Grandmother ever meet, we can listen to that together. :)

Just the Way You Are and Forget You was probably the worst top 2 in the charts I've seen.
