I think alot of people's hate for 'Swagger Jagger' is fuelled by their hate for Cher, Syco, Simon Cowell, X Factor etc. I think that if 'Swagger Jagger' had been released by Rihanna or Katy Perry, I'm sure that most of you (not all) would be supporting it. -_- I think it's a good song, yes the lyrics are dodgy and it isn't perfect, but it's not that bad!

1) I actually like(d) Cher. She has potential but I can see her going down the same route as JLS.

2) Syco is shit and is the reason why SJ is actually getting a release. They think that just because it has "swagger" in the title, it must be currrent.

3) I don't really hate Simon Cowell but his lack of interest in music itself is terrible.

4) XF is ok and, like Cher, has the potential to be great but the producers let it down. Leona came from XF so I'm not complaining.

If Rihanna or Katy released 'Swagger Jagger', I would be speechless and actually lose respect for them as artists. But it's extremely unrealistic that artists like those would release such a cheap sounding song.

Everything about the song is bad; the uninventive generic stupid lyrics (how many times will we hear "get on the floor" in a song), the cheap-sounding music, the anti-climactic chorus, the annoying vocals - I could go on. Cher's underwhelmed me and I was one of the ones who stood up for Cher when she was getting all of that hate on XF.

I think David Guetta will continue climbing to stop an all British top 7

I suppose so. Although even then that's sort of British as the primary vocalist is British :kink: But that's stretching it a bit

I really hope Nero can make #1, it's an absolute travesty that "Me and You" only made #15.

Top 10 would have been nice for Me And You but it's a really subpar song by their standards IMO so I'd be very happy if it remains their lowest peaking single (other than Innocence which never really got a proper push to be fair).

I don't think Promises will get to #1, I still think around 4-7 is more likely. But if it does get to #1 that'd be wonderful. Would be the second best #1 of the year after 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me'.

If it doesn't get to #1 Nero still have a good shot at #1 as the producers of 'Stay Awake' which should easily be #1 unless Ed Sheeran is really huge (which he could be).

I have a feeling Nero might re-release 'Innocence' for single 5. Well, I sort of hope they do anyway, because #167 would be a terrible peak for it

Tbf I have actually honestly seen people on YouTube say they'd like Swagger Jagger if it was by Katy Perry etc., which is pathetic really. Fair enough not liking the song because that's an opinion, but disliking it just because it's Cher is clearly pathetic, but I highly doubt anyone on here would be so pathetic, there are some people on the 'net who really are though.

Rizzle Kicks and Adele to knock Nicki and Katy out of the top 10 over the week please

Well, ideally Rizzle Kicks won't be top 10 at all, but if Adele is going to go top 10 Rizzle Kicks will as well. And RK would be another British act in the top 10 which is always a good thing I suppose.

I actually quite like that Masterchef track! Would love to see it make the top 40 on Sunday. :D

I wouldn't say it's that pathetic. Some songs actually would sound better if another artist sang them. Although there is no saving SJ and YouTube is full of sub-humans.

There are some Beatles songs, for example, that I really like but I can't listen to simply because I find their delivery really poor. But that is just my opinion.

The past 7 pages of this thread!! :o HILARIOUS!

Anyway, I like Swagger Jagger. And I'm 19, so I have hit puberty.

Cher is a good singer too. She's probably better at singing than Cheryl Cole, for example.

AND, I know people criticize Cher's rapping skills, but you have to put it in the context of THE X FACTOR, not in the context of the charts. Cher is probably the best rapper to appear on the X Factor in the show's history! Again, she's not original in the context of the charts, but in the context of THE X FACTOR, where everybody performed 80's pop and rock songs every...single...week, yes, she was quite unique.

I agree with what someone else said. If the song was released by another artist, whilst it probably wouldn't have been loved, it would receive nowhere near this much hate. Look at Katy Perry, she releases songs like Peacock. Yes, that song has had its fair share of criticism, but it's NOTHING compared to the criticism Swagger Jagger has gotten. And imagine if Cher had released Party Rock Anthem, for example!

The problem here is close-mindedness. Most people here made their minds up 9 months ago that they would not like anything that Cher released. They knew they'd hate this song, before they even heard it.

Totally agree with this, my thoughts in Blob form! :D

Cher is the *only* rapper in XF history. You've said that exact thing before and got the same response.

Some of did say if it sounded exactly the same but was by Rihanna (for example) they'd like it, which surely is pathetic? Though tbf I didn't state that as I should. YouTube is full of sub-humans though

Agree on The Beatles too, thought I was the only one!

The YouTube comments section is like the black hole of the internet tbh

Really? I'd give that honour to /b/.

In your opinion, that is.

And in your opinion, it's a good song...

The YouTube comments section is like the black hole of the internet tbh

Yep, wonder into it and all reason is sucked away  I come across as such a bad loon on YT!

I'm a fan of hip hop and RnB. I don't know about you, but I find all those Michael Jackson, Oasis, Elton John, etc. songs they sing on the X Factor, week in, week out, reptitive and boring. I've said this before aswell, but I loved Cher, for performing artists like Jay-Z, Keri Hilson, Eminem, Alicia Keys, Dizzee Rascal, Rihanna, Professor Green. I thoroughly enjoyed her performances every week.

I'm hoping, this year, now that Tulisa and Kelly Rowland are judges, we'll get more urban music, and less pop/rock music on the show.

To not like a song is not being close minded it is called being honest.Cher is not a rapper just as Ke$ha is not a rapper, talking fast and rapping are two different things. The best rapper on X-factor remains Graziella, you cannot know much about Rap if you consider Cher a rapper. The issue is why Syco have such poor A&R, with Labrinth on there books I am sure they could have found a really good, song that showcased her voice better.

I would say the girl from Miss Frank, Graziella, is better and more natural than Cher at rapping.

I don't understand how you can't understand that the song is shit, and that is why most people on here and in general don't like it.

I 100% guarantee that you will not like one single song that Cher releases.

Rapping is speaking rhyming lyrics in a rhythm over a beat. What Ke$ha does on Tik Tok, Blah Blah Blah, etc. is rapping. You're probably getting confused between rap and hip hop. Ke$ha is a rapper, but she's not a hip hop artist.
