Posted August 1, 201115 yr Swagger Jagger looks set for number one 11:46 | Tuesday August 2, 2011 Source: MW By Ben Cardew Singles Controversial former X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd looks set to score a number one single at the first time of asking this Sunday with Swagger Jagger, while Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black should spend another week at the top of the albums chart. Swagger Jagger (Syco), which divided critical opinion when a demo version leaked earlier this year, has already sold more than 30,000 units this week, putting it far ahead of its nearest competitor, current number one JLS feat Dev’s She Makes Me Wanna (Epic). The rest of the midweek top five is filled out by The Wanted’s Glad You Came (Island), Ed Sheeran’s The A Team (Asylum / Atlantic) and DJ Fresh’s Louder (Ministry of Sound), according to Data from the Official Charts Company. Lower down the charts, Down With The Trumpets, the second single from Island’s British hip hop / pop duo Rizzle Kicks, looks set to challenge for a top 10 place this Sunday, with sales at this stage up more than 50% on the same time frame last week. Meanwhile, the second highest new entry in the singles chart this Sunday looks likely to come from self confessed “tea drinkers, biscuit packet rustlers and chronic noise makers” Swede Mason, with their “A/V mashup” Masterchef Synesthesia (Dentle Records), which uses samples from the titular TV show. It is currently just within the top 40, according to Official Charts Company midweek sales flashes, after selling more than 2,500 copies. Albums The late Amy Winehouse’s influence continues to be felt in both singles and albums chart: nine of her songs currently sit within the top 200, according to midweek sales flashes, led by Back To Black (Island) at 25. And her two albums continue to sell strongly. Back To Black, her second long player, which topped the charts last Sunday after her death, continues to outsell all comers and looks set for another week at the top of the charts, while Frank, her debut, currently sits at three in the midweeks. The combined Frank / Back To Black package, which charted at 10 last Sunday, is at 21. Filling out the albums top five at this stage are two releases from XL’s Adele (21 and 19) and Beyonce’s 4 (RCA), with Lady GaGa’s Born This Way (Polydor) just behind, making another all-female top five a strong possibility. P Money 'Anthemic' - it did well to reach #50 last week, but sadly I can see it dropping to around #57 - although even two weeks inside the T100 beats previous single 'Getting Nowhere'. I think Cher is looking certain for a number-one - with Guetta and Rizzle Kicks in the T10 (although RK may be just outside in this update). Hopefully big climbs for Foster the People, Tinie Tempah and Benny Benassi. T40: Eminem, Christina Perri and The Throne? I hope so!

Getting Nowhere actually spend 3 weeks top 100, but only one week top 75. (86-69-89-x)
August 2, 201115 yr Author No update on MW, which doesn't look good, too early to tell though, hopefully we do get something later this afternoon, like we did with the sales yesterday. Just have to be patient. Hopefully Irishguy on UKmix can shed some light on the subject as well.

August 2, 201115 yr Author limited midweeks info, thanks to Irishguy at ukmix 01. (01) Back To Black (+60.4%) 03. (05) Frank (+87.1%) The Frank / BTB double set is now out of the top 20. Amy has three singles in the top 40, all outside of the top 20. 21 is at #2. ============ Album sales must be very low.
August 2, 201115 yr Of course the sales are low overall, there's nothing new to buy and as always, only very few albums can gather the interest in the long run. The only way to keep up respectable sales figures throughout the summer is to hope that someone important dies. Sad but true.
