That's what everybody said about J.Lo last year! It's strange because a collaboration between these two in 2011 should have flop written all over it but it's been or becoming a massive worldwide hit so I can't see it not doing that here.

Heaven is my favourite though so it would be nice if you were right!

Same. :kink:

Β

This may or may not have clouded my judgement.

Β

I haven't even heard Wretch 32 yet (ought to do that, really), and Moves Like Jagger has yet to impact itself on me.

I agree that Maroon 5/Christina will probably have good longevity. The thing is, not that many people in the UK know the song yet, apart from Radio 2 listeners. In contrast, I think the Wretch 32 and Emeli songs are more well-known, due to being on commercial radio and Radio 1 a lot (the stations that are more important for the singles chart), so I think lots of people are "waiting" to buy the songs, so they'll have higher first week sales and then fall, probably.

And it's #2 on the Irish iTunes, which is a good sign :D

Radio 2 can get songs top 20 on airplay all by itself.

Β

How many times have you heard it on Capital, Heart, Radio 1, etc. for example? I listen to those all day, and honestly, I've heard Watch the Throne album tracks more than Moves Like Jagger.

Are the airplay charts based on listeners or how many times it's played?

Audience, which is why Moves Like Jagger is high despite only being played on Radio 2 - it's the most listened to station in the UK.

24. Nicole Scherzinger - Wet. I was thinking this could have broke the top 20 next week until I realised there is going to be many new releases. Wet's airplay is not very impressive tbh, I hope to see it get a price reduction to 59p or 79p. It's incredible how much a 20p difference is on downloading a song/ chart wise.

Pre Order - Singles

13. Emeli Sande - Heaven

20. Wretch 32 - Don't Go

22. Olly Murs - Heart Skips A Beat

32. Calvin Harris - Feel So Close

52. Dappy - No Regrets

58. Ed Sheeran - You Need Me, I don't need you

81. Pixie Lott - All About Tonight

170. Example - Stay Awake

Β

Pre Order - Albums

72. Nero - Welcome Reality

111. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - I'm With You

146. Example - Playing In The Shadows

Btw on The Irish Chart

Β

01. Maroon 5 & Christina - Moves Like Jagger 100%

02. Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts 37.2%

96. Emeli Sande - Heaven

What are the chances of Dappy going to number 1 with no regrets?

Β

It's possible. It's difficult to be sure really. He might get to be on X Factor since he's in a group with one of the judges (same with Beyonce). I think it's quite a good song really.

Β

In other news, Cher up to #8.

Woah, Maroon 5's lead! :o I still think Emeli or Wretch will get the UK number 1, Maroon 5 do seem to be more popular in Ireland than here looking at chart positions.

I just saw the video on Sky.

Β

Levine looked a right prat pretending to be Jagger, but Christina looked fine as always. :)

A combination of both.

Β

I am sure it is between Dappy and Jason DeRulo with It Girl, Jason seems to have a loyal fanbase but Dappys song is very good.

Oh yeah, that's a point. It's got a music video now.

It would be amazing if it got to #1. I was literally reading on another forum just now about how Chritina's career is apprently ending, and people wondering if she can ever get a hit again. It would be so funny if in a couple of days she was #1 on UK iTunes.

Β

The airplay charts are only based on audience. If a song is played a million times to an audience of 1, it will chart in the same place as a song played once to an audience of a million.

Β

About Dappy, I'd say he has a loyal fanbase too. I remember last year N-Dubz had a couple of songs chart in the top 20 without really getting any airplay beforehand. Although Morning Star did flop.

I'd love too see how high up on pre-orders 'Moves Like Jagger' would be if it was an EP and not a single!
Moves Like Jagger was played over 1,100 times on radio last week, so it's certainly being played on a lot of stations!

Β

A commercial radio station I listen to called BRMB plays it a lot. It gets about 50,000 listeners probably.

Wow at "Moves Like Jagger"'s lead in Ireland, I'd like it to reach #1 just so Maroon 5 could have one charttopper. They were sorely denied the week Rihanna rush-released "Umbrella" halfway through the week and stole #1 from "Makes Me Wonder". I like both songs pretty equally but it would have been nice for the latter to have one week at the top since the former had 10

I was just listening to a live performance of Umbrella when I read this.

Β

Why did they rush release it? :o

Β

I'd quite like Moves Like Jagger to get #1 tbh. A top 5 of that, Nero, Christina Perri, Wretch 32 and Emeli Sande would be too good to be true though! :o
