August 9, 201115 yr This is gonna be the first week since 21 was released that it's not gonna be in the Top 2 :o Don't get too excited, it's found its way to top 2 for 28 weeks before... :P Watch the Throne won't be released physically until on Friday and its digital sales won't be enough to beat 21.
August 9, 201115 yr Wretch will almost certainly be #1 because at this rate he'll need to do about 30k to get there :drama: I do hope singles sales pick up again soon, surely we've got to be drifting towards the region of being down on the sales of this week last year?
August 9, 201115 yr I would say both Wretch and Emeli have good chances of being number 1 and 2 next week - both EPs doing well on pre-orders + both should sell over 30-40k - which going on this weeks sales will be more than enough
August 9, 201115 yr I keep forgetting about Emeli  I meant Wretch or Emeli will easily be #1 next week as they'll only need to sell about 30k at this rate. I wasn't really expecting Emeli to do much at all but now with all its pre-orders compounded with the low sales, I think it should be top 2 with Wretch next week.

Well, it'd help if people actaully started releasing new material... :P
August 9, 201115 yr Well, it'd help if people actaully started releasing new material... :P There's more material being released now than a few other weeks this year (such as the week when Red Hot Chili Peppers had the highest new entry... at #44). Sales are just becoming terrible now. We've got Olly/Calvin, then Example/Ed, then Sats/Pixie/Leona all coming up after next week, but sales for #1 this week and next week will be dreadful :drama: Unless of course Wretch 32 or Emeli Sandé can get a respectable first week sale, but I don't think either will. August 9, 201115 yr :o Surely not? As far as I'm aware it's only on iTunes at the moment, not physically released until next week... If that's just off downloads...WOW. I just don't get why it would only be released on downloads this week - physical sales would be far higher...
August 9, 201115 yr Funny that people complain about sales when they will still be 100% sure above last years figures.
August 9, 201115 yr I just don't get why it would only be released on downloads this week - physical sales would be far higher... They agreed some sort of exclusivity deal with iTunes for the first five days or something along those lines...
August 9, 201115 yr On air / on sale being dropped has kind of killed the chart. Has on air / on sale officially been dropped??
August 9, 201115 yr expect low physicals from this week onwards.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/aug/0...ck-london-riots
August 9, 201115 yr So excited to see Nero at #1 on the first update. As much as I'd like to see it get #1 officially, it seems unlikely. But at least it'll get a T7 positioning - better than previous single 'Guilt'. It's a shame to see Ed Sheeran fall to its lowest position yet though, it's 7-week chart run thus far has been extremely good. T20 - Foster the People T40 - David Guetta ft. Sia ^ Yay, for both of these! As for albums, I'm glad the battle is between Jay-Z, Kanye West and Winehouse - with Adele clear of the T2 (at last). I'd like Winehouse to continue a lengthy chart run, much like Michael Jackson did - but at the same time Kanye and Jay-Z deserve a #1 for such a great collaboration.
August 9, 201115 yr Charlie Simpson top 40 - excellent stuff :D Yes, Im so happy for him. :yahoo: I wasn't expecting Nero at number 1. :o It will drop to 3 or 4 by sunday though.

It could be an unexpected number 1. Not for me of course. ^_^
August 9, 201115 yr expect low physicals from this week onwards.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/aug/0...ck-london-riots Because they were really high before this week... Dont forget Modestep's Sunlight is also out next week. It could be an unexpected number 1. Not for me of course. ^_^ I'd love Modestep to be #1 but I think they'll be top 20 at best.
August 9, 201115 yr Because they were really high before this week... I'd love Modestep to be #1 but I think they'll be top 20 at best. because the SONY distribution centre in London was burnt down last night, so thats all the SYco CD's and all the indie lables stock.
August 9, 201115 yr because the SONY distribution centre in London was burnt down last night, so thats all the SYco CD's and all the indie lables stock. It's very rare for anything to sell more than a few hundred physical copies in a week outside its release week and even then only when it's an XF act, a charity single or by an act with a very dedicated fanbase...
August 9, 201115 yr Because they were really high before this week... It will affect the albums too - on twitter Charlie Simspon said copies his album due out next week have been destroyed and release may be pushed back
