LOL I wonder if Charlie Simpson will get top 40 on Sunday because he's on the show with Reggie. Charlie I have some news you haven't made the top 40, you charted at 41 or lower.

I've just noticed 'Moves Like Jagger' by Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera has shot up to no. 1 on Ireland's iTunes. Is this a sign? I know the track has proved to be popular in other countries but will the UK do an "Alors On Danse" and it'll just be a minor top 30 hit here whilst big everywhere else? :o

I think that's mainly because 'Alors On Danse' was in French and wasn't getting much promotion (other than Radio 1) because of that fact. Once 'Moves Like Jagger' gets popular, I'm sure the likes of Heart and Capital will start playing it, but I can see Radio 1 snubbing it :(

MLJ is a lot more commercial than AOD and also it's cracked Australia and America unlike AOD so I don't see it missing top 10, plus it is very Heart (Klumzee is right) so I imagine they'll end up playing it (it makes a change from Christina Perri ) just to be desperately cool  It'll be Xtina's biggest hit since Ain't No Other Man (how Hurt, her best song, missed top 10 I'll never know :() and Maroon 5's biggest since Makes You Wonder anyway.

Ok so 'Alors On Danse' was a bad example. It was the only song I could think of that fits that sort of criteria. :kink:

Cher  8

Sietta  9

Is not amused. :(

Could be a fascinating five-way battle for #1 next week to beat the slightly underwhelming four-way battle this week. Who could have guessed, the way to bring back proper chart battles was to let sales drop and watch a handful of singles struggling to top 50k slugging it out :drama:

These last two weeks have been great - the only really great battles for #1 all year except for Jessie J's second week when she had Chipmunk to contend with and GaGa catching up.

Waka Waka is a better example, it was huge everywhere else and in English, plus it was to do with the World Cup yet missed the top 20 here :( It did sell really well though, and is still sticking around relatively high on iTunes :o

Waka Waka? :w00t: probably a better example given it was by an established (if fading) artist.

EDIT: Dammit, Liam beat me to it :(

Maybe Satellite by Lena?

That was sort of the record company's fault for leaving it until Monday, when the momentum was over. It would've easily been top 10 if people had been able to download right after her win :(

Interestingly, Waka Waka, Satellite and Alors on danse all got to #1 on the European Hot 100 last year.

All the other songs that got to #1 there that year though (Meet Me Halfway, Bad Romance, Tik Tok, Telephone, Wavin' Flag, California Gurls, We No Speak Americano, Love the Way You Lie and Only Girl) were absolutely massive hits here though. Which I suppose gives us an idea of how big Waka Waka, Alors on danse and Satellite were in the other European countries.

I Wanna Go  #158

It's climbed about 33 places since the beginning of the week, although I expect its mainly to do with Now 79 tracks falling...

Yeah, Satellite didn't appear till a couple of days afterwards :( They learnt their lesson this year with Taken By A Stranger (released in February), but she didn't win. I really wish a label would try and promote her in the UK, I think she could do really well :)

Thank you, hope Cristina is number 1 next week.

Much better than the rest of the top ten. We need more songs like this in the charts - proper rap with clever lyrics

'Clever lyrics'? Please tell me you're joking

Top 100 update from 8pm is coming, sorry it's been really late again the past couple of days. Been a bit busy.

OK some of the lyrics may be really generic (the "When I dance" verse especially) but compare the lyrics of DWTT to songs like "Swagger Jagger", "Glad You Came", "Little Bad Girl" and "She Makes Me Wanna" and you'll find they're much better. (I am in a loon mode with this song btw just so you all know) :P

"Jar Of Hearts" obviously has the best lyrics in the current T10, no contest  But of course that isn't a rap

I agree with him. I'm inclined to think that YOU are the one that is joking.

It's got quite original lyrics, compared to a lot of the other chart hits atm e.g. "Boo hoo my boyfriend doesn't love me anymore".
