people actually think that cover drive will go top 10? I can see it being a low top 30 smash with only 2 weeks inside the top 40. deservedly so, too. :puke:

I think it will go top 10 too, but I hope you're right!

Cover Drive - Lick Ya Down - 14 (US smash? I don't know much about it, but songs of this nature do usually make some kind of impact)

Cover Drive never have (and never will) ever been close to having a US smash  They were a YouTube covers band and now have a record deal. I quite like it, I seem to be alone in that though :heehee:

I'm pretty sure Lick Ya Down will go top 10. It's has SO much airplay, and also for so long aswell. To be honest, it's exactly the same situation as Dancing On My Own by Robyn, The Way Love Goes by Lemar, On a Mission by Gabriella Cilmi, etc. were in last year. Capital play them every 3 hours for 2 months, so they manage to go top 10.

I have had this on repeat for about a year now. Such an incredible song

I think LYD will almost certainly go top 10, and i really think it could get quite high up into the top 10! :o

I'm hoping it will do a Six D, but it could maybe do a 'Like U Like' (I hope not though!)

I don't think it'll do like Six D, considering that I had heard the Six D songs 0 times before it's release, but I've heard Lick Ya Down about 50 times.

So? That's only what you've personally heard by what outlets you listen to. Granted I have heard this slightly more and maybe seen it equally exposed on the music channels too. I'm pretty sure it'll at least be top 20 realistically.

listened to it on youtube now - it couldn't be more different to what I was saying  it's OK, if a bit trashy but better than Best Damn Night, I love how half the comments on youtube are just relating to her chest

I have heard 'lick ya down' a few times on the music channels, but only about twice on the radio. as for 'best damn night', that was literally all over 4music, the box and smash hits. not sure about radio, but on the music channels it was hard to miss. I think it's flop must have been down to how they're another new group with girl members which seem to be getting less successful as they go. shame, I really liked it. :(

there's something about 'lick ya down' that just makes me think that a lot of people won't take notice of it. it's 100% throwaway.

Shame Best Damn Night flopped (not a great song by any means, but I'm actually starting to like it now), while this 'Lick Ya Down' crap is set to go T10 :(

All I know about Cover Drive is that every time I tune into Capital they seem to keep raping it! :puke2: :puke2: :puke2:

I'm pretty sure Best Damn Night was B-listed on Radio 1, not sure about any other stations though. I hope you're right that people won't take notice of LYD, but Capital seem to be supporting it heavily, so there's a good chance it'll be a hit unfortunately.

This. Clearly the people who've only heard the song once or twice listen to nothing else but Radio 1. And they're probably the same people that were surprised last year when Gabriella Cilmi and Robyn went top 10. I don't know why Capital do that. It's a good station overall, but they seem to get some random song every now and then and play it to ridiculous extremes for a few months, and then after that you never hear it again. I'm sure there must be some money involved somewhere... Same with Jar of Hearts and Heart. It's out of character for those stations to do that.

David Guetta/Jennifer Hudson isn't appearing on the iTunes feed atm.

I always thought that was because it's namechecking the station, and it's a very Heart-friendly song, so both of those equals mass plays. There was a slightly similar situation with the Capital edit of Born This Way. Radio stations like namechecking themselves. It does seem to be the only thing I hear on there, but that's good.

Haven't heard Cover Drive at all, and I do listen to Capital occasionally.

So between 4 and 5 times a day for a month on every Capital station.

It's probably even more than that, since Compare My Radio does not track every single song that's played on the radio (e.g. I've heard Jealousy on Capital, but according to that website it hasn't been played on Capital before).

Not to mention, based from experience, I hear it probably every 3 hours on there, so that's more like 8 times a day.

I never thought about that about Jar of Hearts and Heart FM. You could be right.

Talking about Heart FM, Count on Me by Bruno Mars is now #101! I think, in this case, 99% of the promotion of this song comres from Heart FM (since it's not a single, it will only be getting the odd play on other stations, I suspect), so it will be quite useful for future reference as to how much (or little) influence Heart has on the chart.
