Quite interesting to see that this chart week in 2010 had the same T10 as the week before, yet this same week in 2011 we get to enjoy 3 new entries in the T5 alone.

interestingly enough, the one top 10 last year that did have the same top 10 as the week before was the same week this year where the top 10 was exactly the same! there's you're random/pointless chart fact for the day :magic:

Lol I can't even name 11 dance songs from 2000 without looking it up on chartstats. Here's what I know/like/remember

Darude 'Sandstorm'

Madison Avenue 'Don't Call Me Baby'

Storm 'Time To Burn'

Sash 'Adelente'

Watergate 'Heart Of Asia'

Rank 1 'Airwave'

Southside Spinners 'Luvstruck'

I agree 2000 has some great dance but I prefer 2006 because I was "there", if you get what I mean

The following finished inside my top 20 of 2000;

Delerium - Silence

Fragma - Toca's Miracle

Aurora - Ordinary World

Alice Deejay - The Lonely One

Spiller - Groovejet

Alice Deejay - Will I Ever

Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia

Rank 1 - Airwave

Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby

Watergate - Heart Of Asia

York - On The Beach

Paul Van Dyk - Tell Me Why (The Riddle)

But yeah, I do get what you mean and actually overall I preferred 2006! Just not for dance...

(who knew David Guetta would go on to be as big as he is now :o )

There were so many one hit wonder DJ acts like Bodyrox, Supermode and Fedde Le Grand (they had a few more hits but you get the point) flying around so no-one would have expected David to be the biggest producer on the planet :o

its annoying that Wretch is getting to number 1 with his worst and most forgettable single :(

Yeah. Will people remember this in a year's time?? Apart from massive fans of Wretch 32, UK hip hop and the charts (because chart fans knows all) - everyone will completely forget it and move on to the next hyped rapper.

Oh yes, I thought Silence was a year or 2 later for some reason - I forgot about Toca's Miracle and Ordinary World - Groovejet is more pop than dance for me as it's essentially a SEB song - didn't know what year Synaesthesia or On The Beach was - have never heard 'The Lonely One', 'Will I Ever' (don't know why because I looove Better Off Alone ) and 'Tell Me Why The Riddle'

I also agree 2006 was excellent for many things - even rock/indie was good ('Call Me When You're Sober' and 'Welcome To The Black Parade' would've easily been in my top 5 of the year) and I am known for not being a fan of today's indie

It's only about as pop as Don't Call Me Baby would be, but I'd still call them both dance, Sophie was just the featured vocalist!

I'd definitely youtube the ones you haven't heard if you get a chance, Will I Ever is probably the most 'pop' song of the whole bunch actually, it was far more cheesy than anything else they released. Synaesthesia is an amazing trance song, sadly it only got to #27 here :(

2006 had everything, so diverse and I loved practically everything in the charts every week, it was nice to see people buying GREAT music for once, at least in my opinion! My favourite dance song of that year was Voodoo Child.

I don't think Wretch 32 is as forgettable as people are making him out to be. Sure, it seems to have gone Tinchy Stryder - Chipmunk - Tinie Tempah - Wretch 32 - but I imagine he'll still be relevant come 2012. I think his career maker was the commerical breakthough 'Traktor' - but 'Don't Go' is the song that displays his talents as a lyricist; so I'm glad this is making #1 over 'Unorthodox'.

It's also nice to have the talented Josh Kumra have a #1 to his name before his career even blossoms, the likes of Daley, Delilah, Maverick Sabre and Ed Drewett have all have similar collaborations and each are making a name for themselves in the mean time.

Do people reckon it'll go Wretch 32 - Maroon 5 - Emeli Sande or Wretch 32 - Emeli Sande - Maroon 5. I'm hoping the former.

Groovejet is definitely a dance track, the instrumental was doing the rounds in clubs way before SEB added her pronounced vocals to it. Madison Avenue veers more on the pop side but would still probably have been classed as a dance track at the time.

As much as I like 'Don't Go', I agree. The only thing Wretch 32 will be remembered for (if anything) will be 'Traktor', even if that turns out to be his lowest charting single.

I think most people that like the song will remember it in a year's time.

Lots of people won't remember it, but it's one of those songs that a large proportion of the UK probably won't have actually heard before. Those people that don't listen to Radio 1, Capital, etc, and don't watch MTV are probably not going to know the song, so it's no wonder they won't remember it.

I think it's a great #1. It's just so different to most, if not, all of the other #1s we've had this year. For me, I think it's a bright future for music if songs like this can still get to #1.

I agree that 2006 was so diverse for music aswell. It had big hits from every (mainstream) genre. The same can't be said for this year.

And Emeli Sandé who had 2 top 10 hits as a featured artist before her commercial breakthrough :P

Great to see ADELE still charting :w00t: Now we wait for someone to perform it on X Factor next week (hopefully) so it can have a great unbroken T40 run since it re entered at 1.

Shame this will probably fall out next week, before an X Factor boost. Wanted it see if it could stay in the top 40 until New Year but obviously not :(

Another one is Nicki Minaj? She's like a female Pitbull in collabs!

I'm not happy to still watch 'Someone Like You' in the charts. I love it but now it's getting more and more overplayed and overrated.
