It's been anything but crap. Infact it's been getting better where there is a nice variety in the charts currently. :D

I havent seen much variety really.

But its predictable that awful boyband would be number 1 though, the UK laps up that kind of crap

Did not see that coming it was easily the most predictable No 1 and the fastest No 1 of the year so far.They supposedly broke pre-order records.

I doubt OneD are going to be front loaded, probably sell bucket loads, and if they are its only because 150,000 people have bought it in one week :lol: I wonder how much they can sell in one week..The new JLS then, every new single (as in not on an album already) they release will go to #1.

Very few? This week may be a bit sparse but the last three weeks have each seen at least two very high profile new entries in the top five, there's been a lot more movement in the charts lately!

 

Taste is obviously a different matter, personally I think mainstream music has picked itself up after a dull couple of months.

One Direction were always going to have a huge first week sale. The fact that you've been able to buy official books, posters, t-shirts etc for months now even before they've released a single just goes to show how big a fanbase they have got. I mean you can't turn a corner in HMV without seeing their faces somewhere. They are going to blow JLS and The Wanted out of the water because they're that little bit younger which makes them more appealing to their target audience.

I think the whole year has been rubbish for chart music really. A few years ago it would be odd for me to dislike more than ten or so songs in the top 40, now I find myself struggling to even like about five. And the number ones this year have been horrendous!

I think they did break pre-order records, Leona tweeted about it.

Then you should have said that you did not think it would happen so fast after there screeching cats performance on Red or Black :P :P

The charts have been very diverse of late Ms Dynamite, Will Young, Ed Sheeran, Christina A, Emeli Sande most genres have had a look in.
