September 13, 201114 yr Shameful that Laura Marling is not the number 1 album... (the most talented female singer/songwriter the UK has seen in around 20 years) Ed fxxking Sheeran.... pathetic.. I do think he's very talented and he does write some good lyrics, it's the just way they're sung/spoken that I'm not keen on.
September 13, 201114 yr    xinfinity its not about the music with one direction and has a music fan I despise them. The Irish one looks simple they could be singing the ingredients to a box of jaffa cakes and the tweenies would still buy it auto-toned of course. Maroon 5 are at least making the top 10 respectable along with Coldplay hopefully later on.

I love Jaffa Cakes yum yum, your post made me laugh though and i do agree with you, it's a very telletubbies say "eh oh" sort of song.
September 13, 201114 yr Actually quite pleased One Direction are doing so well, it's a genuinely good song. Their performance of it on Red or Black scarred me for life but I'll look past that.
September 13, 201114 yr Still odd to think that with the removal of One Direction's 'Na Na Na' - The Saturdays will still slip to #5 behind Example and 'Stay Awake'. I fear a [CTWYKM]-esque chart run coming on, where multiple versions keep it high but the second they start to fall the single experiences a big drop out of the chart. Great to see Delilah, Noel Gallagher and Ed Sheeran all doing so well - there was never a doubt that Ed would debut at #1; but I didn't think with such great sales. A healthy 100k plus will put him at a good start for the rest of the year.
September 13, 201114 yr Author should be heading for some excellent sales on both charts this week :D just 18k off 100k in a day is amazing for One Direction, I'm pretty sure this will surpass Grenade's first week sales, hopefully Coldplay will show up tomorrow, it wouldn't surprise me if it misses the top 10 though due to a Monday release :( When you add the sales of the B-side, I imagine NA Na Na is around 20k plus, Pixie Lott has had a 52% drop, in a way its cracked 100k. I probably estimate 220k or under for the week, surely the track will have to trail off later in the week.

September 13, 201114 yr Very impressive sales for One Direction. It's actually holding up much better than I expected on iTunes, it still has a lead of (just) over 100% so I should imagine 200k is pretty definite for it now (although my prediction of nearly 300k may have been a bit optimistic). Pleased to see Stay Awake back up 1 (removing the OD B-Side) but it's about to drop out of the iTunes top 10 so it'll probably drop a bit by the weekend. As gooddelta says, very pleased and not at all surprised at Ed Sheeran's day one sales. + was always going to be massive. Hopefully it should comfortably clear 100k and I can see it being a potential million seller in the long run. Good to see Playing In The Shadows not dropping as heavily as a couple other recent #1 albums an hopefully it'll do at least another 30k this week. I wonder if that new Dream Theater album can break their personal record of one week in the chart at #23 before vanishing :P
September 13, 201114 yr Very strong sales from One Direction; Honestly wasn't quite expecting them to be that big! Glad to see The Saturdays only dropping 2 places (when Na Na Na is removed tomorrow), and hopefully they can over-take Example too - their sales must be close.
September 13, 201114 yr Like them or loathe them one direction are gona have very impressive sales this week, will be interesting to see how there album performs. Saturdays holding up well enough aswell, leona dropping a bit faster than i expected. Good to see joe mceldery holding top 10 with this weeks sales he will easily have outsold his debut album and i can see him climbing up to about #6 or 7 by the end of the week, Brilliant to see Imelda May back in the top 30, anyone know why she is experiencing such a huge climb this week? Also could i ask for Snow Patrols position in the singles chart? Edited September 13, 201114 yr by Aphrodite
September 13, 201114 yr I can see One Direction's album being massive. Maybe sell over a million (based on the fact that JLS managed to sell a million of their album). It it looks like they'll beat Grenade's sales. I can see them doing about 170,000 this week. I STILL haven't heard the song yet, but considering how much I dislike Grenade, I think I'll prefer One Direction's song.
September 13, 201114 yr Example #5? Ahead of The Sats? Isn't he two spots behind them on iTunes?? EDIT - they're #4 and he's #10, he must have another version... EDIT again - yep, he does! :P Edited September 13, 201114 yr by shadow2009
September 13, 201114 yr Example #5? Ahead of The Sats? Isn't he two spots behind them on iTunes?? Two versions, but they'll probably overtake anyway. Not much movement on the chart this week I reckon.
September 13, 201114 yr Author Brilliant to see Imelda May back in the top 30, anyone know why she is experiencing such a huge climb this week? Also could i ask for Snow Patrols position in the singles chart? Imelda's May album has been repackaged, and Snow Patrol are only down 4 places.
September 13, 201114 yr 1D's na na na wont count in the singles chart. it will be removed in the same way jls' version of umbrella was when it was the b side on their first single and it was top 10
September 13, 201114 yr 1D's na na na wont count in the singles chart. it will be removed in the same way jls' version of umbrella was when it was the b side on their first single and it was top 10 It should chart, but outside the top 40. This being because it actually is getting downloaded enough to chart in its own right unlike most erroneously high B-Sides.
September 13, 201114 yr 1D's na na na wont count in the singles chart. it will be removed in the same way jls' version of umbrella was when it was the b side on their first single and it was top 10 Do you know why though? Because the vast majority of B-Sides chart seperately if they sell enough. Umbrella seemed to be a bit of an exception (although I still don't understand why ).
September 13, 201114 yr Do you know why though? Because the vast majority of B-Sides chart seperately if they sell enough. Umbrella seemed to be a bit of an exception (although I still don't understand why ). The bizarre thing is Umbrella *did* chart - but only at #107. And although it actually stayed top 100 on iTunes for quite a while it disappeared from the top 200 after week one.
September 13, 201114 yr The bizarre thing is Umbrella *did* chart - but only at #107. And although it actually stayed top 100 on iTunes for quite a while it disappeared from the top 200 after week one. How is that possible though? :o Didn't it get top 20 on iTunes?
September 13, 201114 yr I remember 'This One's For The Girls' (the B-Side to 'Please Don't Let Me Go') also charted at #69 last year. It seems to be an exception more than the rule.
