And what if Stereo Hearts gets no.1 the week after? :heehee:

Besides I'd hardly call it an anticlimax since it's what most people have been wanting to happen for ages.

I like Stereo Hearts so that'd be fine. :P

It is an anticlimax in that it was building up towards being a million-seller without being a #1 which has only happened with about 6? other songs, so it's many times less impressive if it goes on to sell a million in a way now it's heading for being a #1 after all.

I'm not trying to downplay it's success or anything, and it's a pretty impressive feat, it just seemed a bit more impressive when it was selling so much but not getting to number 1

But it'll still be impressing for different reasons. For example, being in the top 3 for so many weekd before hitting no.1 despite the fact that the current trend is to fall out top 40 in as many weeks.

I know you want it to be perceived as an anticlimax it it will be for you, but it won't be for me as in my opinion it's deserving as no.1 and I don't particularly care about chart facts such as that. I'd like to see Maroon 5 with a no.1 and this is their only chance to get it.

Seriously what is wrong with Bre disliking Moves Like Jagger? It seems every other post you make is a snide remark about him disliking it! It gets tiring after a while.

I wonder how long Maroon 5 will stay in the top 10?

Erm nothing, but him disliking it and me liking it is the reason why we are disagreeing on whether the track going to no.1 is an anticlimax. I'm stating why I disagree and trying to show that I can see his point of view from the fact he dislikes the song. There was nothing snide about it. I do find it amusing how much the success of the track bothers him but I'm not trying to get him to change his opinion on anything.

Apologies in advance if you find this post tiring, but I come here to give my opinion not entertain you.

Obvious credit where credit's due as the song is obviously massively popular. But I have said before why I'd be less annoyed by its success if it does get to #1 and I'm sticking to that.

The success of the song bothers me because it's one of my least favourite songs of the year and I don't really like feeling like the only person who dislikes it  My annoyance is massively exaggerated to be fair, it doesn't exactly make any impact on my real life. But it is an interenet forum after all.

And the reason it amuses me is because I know your annoyance is exaggerated. I only ever mention it in jest and try to use emoticons like  to show I'm not being completely serious. Obviously it isn't working for some posters.

Back to the real issue of the thread, Please go aways Loca People :puke2:

You just LIKE TO SEE ME SUFFER in other words. :(

Has the Someone Like You video been played on UK TV yet? I don't know if they're going to even bother with it but it could very slightly revitalise SLY's video play. The BRITs video never got that much exposure but it did go top 10 on the TV chart which isn't at all bad for a live performance 'video'.

97. Around the World / Harder Better Faster Stronger (Live) - Daft Punk

Two fantastic songs. Obviously it's only there because it's 59p but nonetheless a welcome addition to the top 100. (Now that really IS a random song to reduce though - I could understand them reducing ATW or HBFS on their own, but a random live mash-up of the two?)

Yes it's just you. A song that's been in the charts for two months and sold nearly half a million copies before going to #1 would be an AMAZING thing.

What's My Name? managed that aswell (well, I think it'd sold somewhere between 400,000 and 500,000 before getting to #1). Although it debuted at #18 and *only* spent 3 weeks at #2 before getting to #1, so it's not quite as dramatic as this.

I hope it gets to #1 next week anyway. And I hope it gets to #2 this week aswell. I don't know why, but it just annoys me when songs go 2-3-1. It just looks silly. Airplanes did the same. It's just me being pathetic I guess, but it would look nicer for its chart run if it got #2 this week.

Sak Noel is another song we can add to the list of songs that gets #1 officially buy doesn't get there on iTunes.

That fake version of Rihanna is so high! :o It's taken off quicker than any cover versions of Only Girl did! :o I still don't think this song will be anywhere near as big though. I think it'll sell 500,000 rather than 1,000,000. But I'd still be very pleased with 500,000.

I think 'We Found Love' definitely has the potential to be as big as OG. Rihanna is arguably bigger than ever right now!

Iris seems to have held up a lot better than Cannonball did last week, I wonder if it will survive the big drop

I think Rihanna was bigger this time last year tbh (Love the Way You Lie had just been released shortly before). And I don't think We Found Love is as good as Only Girl (and I think a lot of people agree).

Oh I definitely agree with your last statement but Rihanna is releasing WFL off the back of a HUGE era! There is so much hype around her at the moment. OG was released off the back of LTWYL but the album it followed wasn't at all huge - or at least nowhere near as huge as Loud.

For the first time since 'Umbrella', I think Rihanna can debut at #1 with WFL.

(And Bre don't mention 'Run This Town' :P).

Didn't Take a Bow () debut at #1 aswell?

What's My Name? (), Love the Way You Lie () and Live Your Life () all debuted at #1 in the US Digital charts aswell (I think). :kink:

But yes, I know what you mean. I think it could debut there aswell. But it's got huge competition that week. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I hope she can get at #1 in 2012 sometime at least, so she can continue her yearly #1 streak here.

Take A Bow had one week at 2 before reaching no.1

No, TAB went 2-1 just like OG.

I'm talking about the UK chart. :P I think she's going to get the best airplay regardless of competition.

Oh, I didn't know that! :o Was it a similar situation to Only Girl, with another massive song released the same week? Or was it released mid-week?

I agree that she'll definitely get the best airplay. I think she's against a charity song that week, which will probably be on air, on sale, so won't compete with her on airplay (but we could see another repeat of what happened with Russian Roulette, although I didn't mind that song missing #1, even though it's Rihanna, because I absolutely hated it).

I could see a repeat of last year aswell, with her having her first two singles from her album being in the top 10 at the same time. Only Girl/We Found Love charting 2-3 months late due to being held back, then the 2nd singles charting 2-3 months early because they've already been massive hits in the US and have music videos by the time the album is released, so they get cherry-picked massively.
