September 28, 201114 yr Author Joe is doing so well with Classic - even after taking into account the PSTO effect; its got surprising longevity... Any Example Single/ Album news? Stay Awake 10+8 Album 10+2
September 28, 201114 yr Delighted for Mastodon. Unlikely they'll be in the Top 10 by the week's end, of course, but a Top 15 placing is not off the cards. Disappointed not to see Machine Head there, but it was a very strange decision to release the MP3 album an entire month before the physical. I imagine they'll be in the Top 40 when the physical comes out, but not as high as they should be. there is a Machine Head "physical" but it's in conjunction with Metalhammer magazine which I couldn't be bothered with. I'll pick up the physical CD when it comes next month
September 28, 201114 yr Joe certainly does well with the physicals. Up seven places from yesterday is brilliant!
September 28, 201114 yr eurgh at Sak Noel. There are two much better songs at 2 and 3, isn't it always the way! C'mon Iris!
September 28, 201114 yr 19 out of top 10, I guess it had to happen some time  Cant believe how incredibly its sold this year, amazing! and 21 #6! Out of top 5 since its release, again had to happen some time :heehee: it'll hit over 3,100,000 sales this week

September 28, 201114 yr Days Are Forgotten back in the top 40 as I expected :D It's now 59p on iTunes so hopefully it can re-chart at #36 or so. Kasabian aren't doing too badly this era after all it seems, the album's doing well too. Nirvana ahead of blink-182 :o Hopefully they will stay top 5 on Sunday, I don't hate blink-182 but as Adele is obviously going to knock one of them out I'd prefer Nevermind to finally go top 5 than blink-182 to be in there. I see '19' is down a spot today what with Joe McElderry overtaking it () - I thought it may have climbed at least a place today, it could be out of the top 10 after all. The A Team down to 8+1 today? Probably out of the top 10 again then :( Edited September 28, 201114 yr by Bré
September 28, 201114 yr I think Joe will end up around number 8 on sunday and hopefully nearly another 20,000 sales for him, i knew Nicola Roberts would drop through out the week but am happy it has only suffered a slight drop so far, i have a feeling she will end up top 30 on sunday which is still better than i thought it would do, but at the same time im hoping she can cling onto a top 20 position. I think adele's 21 will re claim a top 5 position by sunday and no doubt at blink 182's expense!
September 28, 201114 yr Is Brett Anderson anywhere in the top 75 with Black Rainbows? I thought it would do well given that he's on a major for the first time in 8 years, but obviously my heart has overruled my head.
September 28, 201114 yr I think Iris or Maroon 5 will get the #1 spot at the end of the week. Both are ahead of Loca People by quite a bit on itunes. Maroon 5 will probably get it.
September 28, 201114 yr What a jump for Joe! I hope it stays Top 10 with 7 new entries. Edited September 28, 201114 yr by jonmove

September 28, 201114 yr Thanks for the updates..pleased to see Nicola still top 15! i hope she can hang on till Sunday. Happy Will is up a place with Echoes and Jealousy is still doing well. Good times. :D
September 28, 201114 yr I am guilty of staying mainly in the AF, I do like a lot of other music too, just not much of what's in the charts at the moment, I had the music channels on last night and only found a few songs I wanted to listen to. I am very pleased that Iris is heading for the #1 slot, it's a favourite track of mine, I also like very much MLJ and its a shame that such a great track hasn't yet been crowned with the #1 chart position. As for Leona, I think the 'stolen' track damaged her stock slightly, that's how low Simon will go to make sure Leona stays a success, and I find it incredibly odd that Simon stole collide from Aviici, when Leona had a 10 track album ready to go. Simon has never got over the fact that he hasn't had any artist as successful as Will till Leona came along, and he is wrapping her in cotton wool, I'm not a huge fan of Leona, but Spirit was a good album and I don't think IMO that she is living up to that initial success. What with Simon putting Glass Heart back till January, is making him look like a coward, and damaging her stock further. I feel very sorry for her, it's a shame that she cant get out of her contract and go with another record company. I wish Joe all the best with his album, I think he just needs space to grow as an artist, he's been bounced about a lot, switching genre, and record labels, maybe opera will be his niche, whatever he decides i hope he does well, nice to have another artist who can cut it live. I hope Alexandra gets the promotion she desereves, I really like her, I have her first album, she has a great voice, a very bubbly personality, can dance, I hated the fact that Simon had her as Olly's support act on his tour, what a put-down, I'm glad she had the determination to cleverly talk her way out of her contract, good on her, at least its taken the chance of him ruining her like he did Shayne Ward, by sitting on him for 3 years till people began to forget about him. Simon is totally dispicable, I saw the BGT recording contract, the artists must hardly be able to breathe let alone have any kind of opinion. I do read this thread, and i will try and make a better effort to join in regards Phil
September 28, 201114 yr It's amazing how Joe keeps climbing up the midweeks, and I wonder if that's because of lingering stock issues. I noticed on Monday that his was the only chart album with no stock. Demand for the album outstripped everyone's expectations, so perhaps Universal are throttling sales to the shops, which will reduce sales on any given week, but might keep them steady over a longer period. Whatever the cause, it is amusing to see people predicting his doom, then having to acknowledge that he's still hanging in there on a weekly basis. It's funny to see all of the sour grapes at play from the people who wrote him off, many before they'd even heard his first single. :teresa: I just posted something about Joe and people went mental for some reason and started to get personal. It's OK. Most people appreciated your comment for what it was - that Joe is doing much better than expected, and is holding up well in the charts against people who were supposed to be a shoe-in for much better sales. It's just some people are over-sensitive and then over-defensive. You did nothing wrong, but unfortunately when it comes to some artists, even the most bland comment will be interpreted as a slight that needs defending. Ironically, nobody seemed to find fault with making comparisons between Joe and Will in this thread. I hope Nicola can hang in there. It's a good album, and while I don't expect her to have massive success, especially without much media support, or airplay, there is a market for her kind of pop. I'd like to see certain radio stations (and DJs) proved wrong on this one too. Edited September 28, 201114 yr by De-lighted

Hi thanks very much for that :) I think you are right there is a lot of humble pie being eaten re Joe and the mere mention of his doing well seems to annoy a lot of people. I don't get it to be honest. I don't expect everyone to be a fan, each to their own but gees the boy can really sing so why he gets so much crap is beyond me.

Yes I guess it was ok to compare Joe and Will in the thread you mention as they were all writing Joe off and trying to laugh at his expense. When the goalposts changed and he started doing well I guess it wasn't!
