I dont think european dance is having more success this year than in previous years. Just a few big hits, that's it, pretty much the norm.

 

Ok, I did exaggerate a little. Usually the big European dance hits that do well tend to be in English. You're quite right that it's no different to 2010.

 

2010 = Alors On Dance 2011 = Danza Kuduro (non English hits)

2010 = We No Speak Americano 2011 = Loca People (almost non English)

2010 = Stereo Love 2010 = Mr. Saxobeat (English)

Maybe not dance music from Europe. But europop (I know this isn't quite the same as eurodance) is huge atm. Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, The Wanted, etc. have all had massive hits this year doing it. And then you've got songs like Don't Hold Your Breath with sounds exactly like a Robyn song. Then you've got the actual europop hits, like Mr. Saxobeat and Hello.

 

In the US aswell, european music is the biggest it's been in a long time.

Yes probably but it doesn't mean it isn't/wasn't terrible. Its just funny with how pretentious Radio 1 can be about their playlists that this makes it. Swagger Jagger got to No1 but dropped pretty swiftly with a lot of hype. Will be interesting to see how her album goes.

I'm surprised there's not a bigger reaction to Danza Kuduro being playlisted in that case - normally a non-English-language song being playlisted would be the cause for at least a discussion.

Yeah. :lol: People are always shocked when I tell them its English. I think just because it's a foreign sounding song, and they can't understand what she's singing, everybody assumes it must be a different language. Plus, it's an instrumentally driven track really. I think most people like Stereo Love because the music is so relaxing and summery, rather than for the lyrics. :lol:

Whaaat? Danza Kuduro? If they're going to playlist a foreign language dance song (and kudos to them for doing so for the second time in 12 months), they could have at least picked a decent one :drama: Still waiting on a UK release of Om Sanningen Ska Fram to be honest...

What is "the exclusive"? Do you mean when artists let Radio 1 do the radio premieres of their songs? I think even if they don't actually get playlisted, letting Radio 1 do the radio premiere is still quite beneficial since it's the biggest radio station in the country, and they often will have a discussion about the song before and after playing it, which commercial stations aren't very likely to do.

Im a bit annoyed at the fact that she done an interview with them. I know other artists have done interviews and got snubbed but i want this song to save her era in the UK.

? Almost non english? Its even with English and Spanish...

Plus, the main catchy bit of the song is in English so I wouldnt say its 'almost non english' at all.

Danza Kuduro is probably teh original version, they played it on floorfilers and they also wrote "Lucenzo feat. Don Omar" but it was the original verison by Don Omar. There is an english version (featuring Pitbull) but it's by different artist, but also featuring Lucenzo
