She has said she can't wait for her fans to hear her new material so she's definitely still working on it. I wonder if she'll be able to get a no.1 single with X Factor not being on at that time of year.

Go Rihanna!

The BEP will most probably reunite five years down the line. I'm going to miss them creating great songs such as 'Shut Up', 'My Humps', 'Pump It' and 'Boom Boom Pow' but I won't miss the uninspired shit such as 'I Gotta Feelin'', 'The Time', 'Don't Stop the Party' etc.

2005 BEP ruled!

Is Cheryl releasing a third album this year? I haven't heard anything about it, I thought she was taking a break and/or ending her solo career for the rumoured GA reunion next year.

Yes. Well, I'm not sure if it is this year, but she's definitely making another album. will.i.am will probably produce most of the songs, so I'll probably love the album. David Guetta is also doing a song on there, so she's guaranteed at least one successful single. She's also rumoured to be working with Alex da Kid, so if that's true, we can expect a guitar/piano-heavy ballad on there.

Cheryl is most likely heading for a 2012 release. She is taking her time to make it the best she can after having strict deadlines for her last two due to X Factor commitments.

She's apparently been doing "all night sessions" with Alex da Kid. :kink: I think that's the REAL reason she's releasing the album later this time.

It'll be interesting to see how she does without X Factor support, but I think she'll do fine. Especially if it's early 2012. It's so quiet that time of year. Like this year, I remember Adele and Jessie J just sitting at the top of the charts for 2 months simply because nobody else was releasing anything.

I wonder if they'll promote her in the US, since she's using all of these International producers this time.

I think it's more because both of them kept up consistently big sales for a long time. Jessie spent 6 straight weeks over 75k and Adele spent 6 straight weeks (not all the same ones) over 80k. A bit like Maroon 5 staying the top 3 for so long which is definitely not because no one is releasing anything.

I think a better example of this would be the Gaga & Lily Allen situation in early 2009. Lily dropped from 1 to 5 after four weeks at the top.

Yep it's been common knowledge for a while now she is working with him. She even tweeted about it :) I'm excited at the prospects and she seems to be focusing more on the material as she doesn't have the X Factor burden anymore.

I think she will still have the potential to sell huge amounts of records. She is still a mega force in the UK! She might not have huge first week sales like she achieved with "Promise This" and "Fight For This Love" without X factor performances but she should still make a fairly large impact on the charts. Like you said the early year releasing advantage could actually work in her favour.

Apparently Will.i.am is keen to launch her in the USA. I can't see it happening to be honest. She will probably focus on the UK. But she has shown potential to international audiences with "Fight For This Love" and of course the Australian chart smash "3 Words" So we can hope! Imagine Cheryl smashing the USA Billboard charts. I'm melting at the thought :kink:

The only way I could see Cheryl doing well in the US is if will.i.am had her sing on some of his songs on his solo projects, and then released one as a single (like he did with Heartbreaker in the UK).

Or will.i.am could do like Timbaland did with Justin Timberlake all the time, where if people ask him for a beat, they can have it as long as Cheryl sings the chorus.

73. Everbody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) (Edit) - Baz Luhrmann

Played on Radio 1 again I guess? I find it amazing how this so consistently gets boosts like this every single time it gets played on Radio 1. Maybe it shall one day trickle sell to a million, as it gets at least a couple hundred sales off each play

Surely she's not climbing just by being announced as Bruno Mars' support act?! (I hope it extends to past the London date! I'm seeing him on the 1st! :()

wow, BEPs split :o although considering Don't Stop The Party was the best they can do, its probably for the best, still they were still pretty popular! (if this is true, of course)
BEP have not split. All the internet reports say 'reportedly' or 'on the verge of', a common mark of bullshit. Until they confirm it themselves I'm not buying it.

I saw Invisible played twice in the space of an hour or so today, on the 4 Music Fresh Music Top 20 then immediately after on 'The 20 Biggest Artists of 2011', she was placed at 18 ahead of Lady Gaga at 20, if memory serves! (Adele, Jessie and Bruno were the top 3)

I think Maroon 5 have gained back a tiny, tiny amount from earlier (talking not even 0.1% here) so I suspect they'll start visibly gaining back from tomorrow. I think if they're back over 50% on Saturday evening they'll be #1 officially. And they still could be even if they do stay under 50. I remain unconvinced Rihanna's lead is big enough.

Your right, it seems its stuck on 0.411 or thereabouts, so it looks like it peaking (unless I've spoken too soon). I guess M5 always have a weekend effect so I'd imagine it will be catching up from tomorrow, even if it happens quite slowly.

Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know #709

I wonder if this will ever be made a single here? Interesting that it's showing up at all with zero promotion!

Grab that top 700 smash!!!

I assume Gotye's track is purely selling on word of mouth and that to be #709 on iTunes, the track must be selling 25-50 downloads. Or would it really be selling more than that? :o

Who knows, Gotye and Kimbra might both end up appearing on the BBC Sound of 2012 poll and this might eventually make its way into the top 40. Everyone (me included) has said it's a slow burner so seeing it at no. 709 gives me hope that 'STIUTK' will make the top 40 at some point in 2012.

By the way, does anyone know why 'A Thousand Miles' has been back in the chart again recently? YouTube comments don't seem to be helping me out with this one.

Ronan Parke has covered it as his debut single, I've seen it on the music channels a few times and I presume others have too and wanted to download the superior original...

Hmm, that seems like a reasonable enough explanation. I was vaguely aware of that but I'd repressed the memories because the only thing worse than 'A Thousand Miles' is 'A Thousand Miles' sung by Ronan Parke when it comes to the music of Vanessa Carlton.

On an unrelated note, I wonder if we could end up with a fake version of a song in the top 40 this week after all? This fake version of 'Stereo Hearts' has probably broken the iTunes top 40 a bit too late in the week but it's been steadily climbing for a while now. Will be interesting to see how high it gets before the inevitable massive drop come Monday.
