I think Friday-Sunday sales are higher than Monday-Thursday. So if Rihanna's big lead is on M5's low sales days it doesn't mean she can outsell their total. If we see M5 climbing today and tomorrow this could be the reason. I still believe RiRi is the outsider for the no1. Even if she was heading for a 100k full week she will settle at 70k max this time which is what M5 are expected to do anyway...

Why not release next week?

If she's going to release early, why not capitalise on the week with no competition. Why should be asking why they didn't release it last Sunday. I still think it doesn't matter and she'll get no.1 no problem. MLJ just isn't meant to get there.

It would make more sense Glee putting all of their songs down to 59p, I doubt any song will reach the top 40.

I don't see Glee challenging the T40 at all now. Sky1 deciding to air the series on a Thursday has huge disadvantages, the rather big one being that although the songs are released onto iTunes on the Sunday, they're not getting the promotion until the end of the week - and I doubt any Glee song can last the remaining 2 days and the full next week long enough to chart T40.

A 59p reduction would definitely increase sales - wonder if they'll catch on.

In the earlier episodes some songs spent 2-4 weeks in the top 40. So they could do it, but it looks like the lower viewing figures on 4ky hurts.

Wheatus- Teenage Dirtbag at #197, anyone know why? It was outside the Top 500 a couple of days ago.

Rihanna 100%

Maroon 5 42.1%

Rihanna actually climbed a bit. :o

I hope Rihanna isn't gonna be no.1! I really want Maroon 5/Christina to have it this week. What a dumb idea releasing on a Wednesday. Why not just release it next Monday?

Seriously don't get the people saying 'why not wait till Sunday?' for We Found Love. Do you HONESTLY believe that her record label give a shit wether Maroon 5 get #1 or not? They could see that there was huge demand for the track by the fake version selling so well, so decided to rush release. It's really not that difficult to grasp. In an ideal world Maroon 5 would have made #1 this week, but surely it's better that the actual song is getting it's deserved sales and not losing as many to a fake version. The same should really have been done for Stereo Hearts and Loca People as soon as their fake versions hit the Top 100 on iTunes imo.
I'm not completely sold Rihanna has done it tbh. I really hope I'm wrong though and I can only see this being played EVERYWHERE from tonight onwards on nights out and stuff. But MLJ is also very popular on nights out. So it's going right down to the wire. I have a feeling this could be the closest chart race in a while (as in 100-300 copies separating them)
Loca People suffered a lot due to fake versions, it's good that Rihanna's label realized they can't just let the fake version chart and hence released it as soon as possible.

202. Lose Control/Let Me Down (feat. Nelly) - Keri Hilson

Grab that top 200 smash! :w00t: FIVE DAYS LEFT!

It'd need to be pretty damn close to beat Example/Maroon 5 five weeks ago! I do agree though, I can see this battle being incredibly close.

Glee update:

 50. Fix You (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

 74. Run the World (Girls) [Glee Cast Version] - Glee Cast

 81. Out Here On My Own (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

 84. Spotlight (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

 104. It's All Over (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

 188. Cool (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

These have barely climbed since this morning - I suppose that may just be because Glee's target audience have all been at school all day, maybe they'll all climb more now. They'll definitely not be troubling the top 40 anyhow. I do hope it keeps this form up all series :D

There are downsides to this though of course...

 79. Fix You - Coldplay :(

I think Rihanna will pull away at the weekend because a lot of people may only found out it's available then as they've been working all week and MLJ isn't catching up fast enough. She could be more comfortably ahead than people think.

I realise this is your 'defeatist' attitude talking but there's no way Rihanna will pull away at the weekend unless she performs it somewhere... or dies. That goes against the whole point of the weekend on iTunes - older songs climb, newer songs fall.

I still don't think MLJ will pull back enough. Are yyou sure this isn't your 'defeatist' attitude? :P

It may or may not pull back 'enough' (my own 'defeatist attitude' says it will :P) but it'll definitely pull back at least some.

 42. Strange Clouds (feat. Lil Wayne) - B.o.B

Interesting that this is still climbing. I wonder if it will outpeak 'She Will' (#66)? It does show some promise B.o.B could have another decent sized era here if this is doing so well with so little 'visibility'. He'll probably be wanting to do a more commercial second single if he's looking for success outisde the US though.
