Maroon 5 set to knock Sak Noel from top of singles chart

By Charlotte Otter

Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger looks set to break its five-week run at number two on the singles chart this Sunday, as the track, which features Christina Aguilera, nudges Sak Noel from the top of the singles chart in Tuesday's Official Midweek Chart.

Singles

It will be the eighth week in the Top 10 for the Maroon 5 single- which, to date, has received little support from Radio 1. The track is currently 8,000 units ahead of Loca People, last week’s No.1.

Elsewhere, there is little change in the Top 10 singles. with former X Factor contestants One Direction and Olly Murs moving up a position each in the midweeks, the former up from No.4 and the latter up to No.7. Dappy and Jason Derulo look set to slip one place, into No.5 and No.8 respectively.

Only Polydor/Interscope duo LMFAO are expected to break up the Top 10 reshuffling this week, with their third single Sexy And I Know It climbing from 20 – 9 in the OCC midweek charts.

New entries in the singles chart come from Marina & The Diamonds, currently places at 19, while Florence + The Machine’s first single from their follow up to Lungs, Shake It Out, and Charlene Soraia’s Wherever You Will Go, are both anticipated to debut in the midweek’s Top 20.

Songwriter/producer Skylar Grey’s Invisible and Darren Hayes’ Black Out The Sun are the only other new entries in the top 75 singles in this week’s midweeks, but with less than 100 sales separating Alexandra Burke’s The Silence from entering within the Top 75, this could well change as the week continues.

Albums

Meanwhile, Sinners Never Sleep – the third studio album from Surrey band You Me And Six looks set to debut at number one on the OCC album chart, with the record 3,000 units ahead of last week’s winner, The Awakening by James Morrison which slips to number two in the midweeks.

Other new entries in the top 10 include Island signing, Ben Howard, with his album Every Kingdom, and Lady Antebellum’s Own The Night at five and six respectively.

Tomorrow’s World by Erasure, Metals by Feist and Revival by Answer all look set to enter within the Top 20 while DJ Shadow’s The Less You Know The Better, Katherine Jenkins’ One Fine Day are expected to debut inside the Top 20.

Other new entries in the album chart this week include Roots Manuva’s 4Everevolution, Union’s Siren’s Song, Justin Lennon’s Everything Changes, Paul McCartney’s Ocean Kingdom and Camo & Krooked’s Cross The Line.

Its not that hard.

[05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude.

[06] Do not use Text Talk.

[09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures.

[10] Regarding chart positions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.

Finally will Maroon 5 get that #1, it could have had 6 to 7 weeks at #1 by now and if Adele didn't get to #1 earlier in the year, Jessie J could have had a longer run at #1 with Price Tag, these 2 tracks just completely miss their chances of having a long run at #1 this year.

I think they should be glad they got to number 1 at all.

Such is life, you could say the same thing about any song stuck at #2 for ages if the song(s) ahead of it hadn't been released

Rihanna is releasing midweek. Could mix things up a bit. Although I still would rather Maroon 5 got it.

While RiRi is not technically an OAOS release, it is virtually so, since it is running ahead of 95% of its publicity.

BTW, can someone point me towards a definite source saying Ri *is* releasing this week, as I 've seen nothing definite?

I thought the source was she revealed it herself on her Twitter/Facebook?

It is indeed on her Facebook, first post: http://www.facebook.com/rihanna

So Rihanna will have four days of sales to attempt to catch up with Moves Like Jagger? Or is it three days?

Does Wednesday at midnight mean in 13.5 hours from now or 37.5 hours from now?

I was going to ask that but I thought it'd make me look thick. I'm glad I'm not the only confused about what Wed Midnight actually means.

I'm guessing Lady Antebellum will be the highest new entry on the albums? No real "big hitters" this week.

No way

Feist's album is one of the most anticipated of the year among the indie fans.

Oh right :) Sorry I don't know much about them.

I'm assuming it means tonight but I'm not 100% sure as it depends what side of the day you perceive midnight to fall on  I love the song but I'll hold off buying it until next week I think, will be gutted if Moves Like Jagger stays at #2 AGAIN. At least it would go down in the record books I suppose...

Will it though? Is 6 weeks enough? :(

Maroon 5 are #1 :D

and You Me At 6 #1 :o

Well it won't be breaking any records but it will join the list of long running #2's I guess, we haven't had anything last for this long there for almost 20 years.

Adam Levine could well be knock himself from #2 next week if Rihanna's sales stretch enough into next week for her to be #1. Not really sure if Matt Cardle's song will be a #1, it sounds more like a hit than Don't Call This Love and Ambitions but I still have my doubts - wouldn't be surprised at a #3 or #4 debut for it now...
