Be careful Regina, torresgirl will soon be accusing Matt of releasing a covers album that doesn't exist to justify her fav's releases. :P

 You made me giggle.

He went on X Factor to get noticed. In order to be on X Factor you have to do covers. Most artists want a record deal to be able to record their own music and most likely wouldn't do a covers album because they want to make music more than they want to sell it. Why can't Matt be the same? Please don't come back with some idiotic spamming remark. It's getting old.

How am I spamming? Or is it that you can't really argue with what I'm saying? So if he wants to make music more than he wants to sell it, why go on XF? Surely he should be happy going round pubs and clubs then and staying true to himself if he just wants to make music and doesn't care about selling it. How ridiculous.

He wants to make music and have the general public hear it, nothing wrong with that.

I can imagine doing dingy pubs and clubs was not what he wanted to spend his life doing either, nobody ould be happy doing that.

We KNOW you hate Matt, the fact that you haven't even mentioned his song in this thread proves that. My point is that winning X Factor shouldn't lead to a covers album if that's not what you want to do. You're skating around that with childish comments like 'oh well he did covers on XF' which has nothing to do with whether he'd want to do a covers album of not. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Leona Lewis and Alex Burke are perfecting their next albums with streams of covers because, you know what? THEY SANG COVERS ON X FACTOR *SHOCKED* This simply must mean that all that original material they put out was just a warm up for the MASSIVE COVERS ALBUM that they've waited ALL THEIR LIVES to record! Please, get some f**king perspective. If you don't have anything to say about the ITUNES THREAD then stay out and make your own hate threads for Matt, Will or whoever else you decide to slag off on your sporadic trips here.

The point is, is that some fans on here are all "Matt would never resort to doing covers even if this album sold nothing" and he did exactly that. His career was going nowhere before XF so he went on sang covers every week and released a cover as his first single :) So obviously he would :)

But unless the 'theme' is 'Never before heard songs' every song on X-Factor throughout its stages is a cover. He had no choice during the show. Don't even know why I'm standing up for him - I wanted Rebecca to win - but Matt Cardle can't be blamed for the set-up of the show.

I think you should go back and read what I actually said but don't let that stop you. I think its you who needs perspective. I don't resort to swearing and losing my temper because someone posts something I don't agree with. I said early on in this thread Matt has a decent voice but sets himself up because of his silly comments. And what is all this nonsense that just because you say something negative you're a "hater". You're not Cher Lloyd and this is not Twitter!

Also I did mention his song I said it was truly awful.

Also please cut and paste anything I have said to slag off Will. I am a fan of Will Young thank you.

With respect, please give it a rest torresgirl, your perpetual defending of Joe's covers albums at the expense of other artists is getting annoying in the extreme

I hope Matt does go on to do well. I don't think he will set the music world alight, but good for him for releasing his own music. Shame about the single, Gary Barlow by numbers track. I guess he was coerced into releasing that!

He's not being blamed for the set up of the show. The point was he's trying to distance himself from something he took part in and gives the impression he is diffrent from previous contestants when he's not. Biting the hand that feeds is the best way of putting it.

Never a dull moment in here, can we just tone it down, or else the thread topic, might turn to a different colour as in invisible mode.

Surely you should be telling everyone else to give it a rest too? Or does who you want to give it a rest depend on whether you agree with them or not? A theme very common here.

 4. Stereo Hearts (feat. Adam Levine) - Gym Class Heroes

 5. Run for Your Life - Matt Cardle

Not surprised at this at all, I knew GCH would overtake Matt swiftly when they got top 10. Matt will have to settle for a #5 debut, but at least that's better than Joe and I'm sure RFYL will massively outsell and outlast 'Ambitions' and his album will be at least a decent seller. (Joe does have a decent selling album now, but just comparing the debuts)

Maroon 5 now down to 70.7%. :D Looks like my worries earlier were pretty nonsensical. I do hope GCH can somehow still get to #2 (not #1 because WFL is infinitely better, but just so Adam Levine's decent song is ahead of his atrocious one).

Ed Sheeran is still #7 as he's overtaken One Direction :D I hope this time he'll last more than a week in the top 10 after the XF boost, if only to lower the chance that Maroon 5 will overtake him for the longest running top 10 hit of the year (although that's fairly inevitable anyway, if they're #2 in their 9th week in the top 10 they're hardly going to only last another 4 or 5 weeks). But also because it's a fantastic song of course and deserves as many top 10 weeks as it can manage :P

Jenny Lo clearly heading for a major flop with Papi :( I knew it wasn't gonna be a major hit but I thought it'd do better than this.

He *is* different from the previous XF winners. Without wanting to sound like a massive cliché he is arguably the first 'real' artist to come out of the X Factor. You can call him pretentious all you want but the point is he is a talented songwriter with history in the music business (he was in a band called Seven Summers) and he went on the XF to get his music noticed, not necessarily to get his music to sell. Which is why it's ridiculous that Syco are forcing him to release the only song on the album that he didn't write as the first single. The whole POINT of Matt Cardle is that he's a songwriter, why give him a Gary Barlow song as the first single?

Starting to go off on a bit of a tangent there so I'll stop.

They were available as that last year weren't they? I'm sure we'd have seen them in the top 1000 by now if they were eligible as they were released at midnight on Sunday...
You are correct. It was only the message which was "album only". I bought every Cher song last year and I remember only buying the album once, as I was excited there was another track, but now I know why when it was just "Hi, I'm Cher Lloyd. Thank you for purchasing my track on iTunes!" or whatever it was haha.

I guess because they thought a song written by Gary Barlow would be a a plus point/selling point with the general public. Just to be clear I don't think being a "singer/songwriter" is pretentious. I just think some of his comments come across that way that's all. He's obviously had a lot more say than previous winners writing the material himself but I guess they had the final say re the single release. I guess we'll never find out if he agreed with it or not.
