Wuthering Heights WAS used on the X Factor a few weeks back (and didn't go top 40 ).

I remember, because coincidentally it was performed on X Factor the same week as Free by Natalia Kills got released, and I pointed out that the two songs sound the same (and then everybody started having a go at me  ).

But it was butchered by some bizzare woman. I mean if like Sophie sang it (it would suit her) at the live shows :P

Hang on - we only had the auditionee's word for it that she was singing Wuthering Heights. For a song to benefit on iTunes - surely we have to make out what they're singing.

Kath

^ Haha. True that.

Although, TO BE FAIR to her, I could tell it was that, and I don't even know Wuthering Heights that well (basically just hearing it on the radio once every few months for the past 19 years, like everybody else I guess ).

Bless her though. I remember it sounded a little bit shrill.

 42. Forever (Radio Edit) - Wolfgang Gartner

 46. Forever Featuring The Churned - Yeo Valley

Well, I'm glad to see Forever climbing but it's a shame to see Forever falling so quickly :( :kink:

I do hope Wolfgang can get his first UK Top 40 hit, he really deserves to be recognised  The Yeo Valley song isn't all that great - just a cheap attempt to sound like a boy band. The rap last year was great and original, as no advert had done something like it before. You gotta hand it to them the video is good but not so much the song, especially when you compare it with Yeo Valley Rap :(

Maybe because that's the point of it?

That'd because it's a parody of boybands (specificaly The Wanted, hence the name 'The Churned') but with them singing ridiculous lyrics about farming and milk. 'Yeo Valley Rap' was just a parody of rap music in general, again with the lyrics made intentionally ridiculous.

Personally I prefer 'Forever' both as a song and as an advertising concept. I hope it'll peak higher than YVR (which got to #71).

Apparently this Yeo Valley ad is only airing on a few episodes of The X Factor, so it won't be in the chart for the whole series :(

Monster by Kanye West (ANOTHER song called Monster ), I'm not sure if it was released as a single officially or not, but I follow Kanye's songs on iTunes regularly. It was in the top 300 for a while immediately after the album was released, and got back in the top 300 again months later when its music video was released (even though the music video got banned (Kanye was NOT happy about that!)).

It's sad that his songs haven't done very well, but based on the music scene we have this year, I'm not surprised. I hope (and think) in the future the music tastes of the general public will change back to a stage where songs like that can be commercially successful here. He released the album at a bad time for the UK, but in the US it gets the critical acclaim that it deserves.

!!!

!!!

Could you explain what "!!!" means?

I meant the UK don't like the sort of music on Kanye's album at the moment unfortunately (look at the charts). The songs would've done better if released somewhere between 2002 and 2008. So, to me, it wasn't a massive surprise his singles didn't do well.

Hmm, 'Cry Baby' has nearly gone top 40 anyway after Cee Lo's XF performance - I really don't understand why he didn't perform this, if he wanted to perform F**k You! so much he could have at least done a mashup of Cry Baby / F**k You! instead of mashing it up with a random album track. Bright Lights Bigger City is also back in the top 100.

Lego House nearly top 40 already - I think this would have been a much better choice of second single and he could have released YNM,IDNY third and it still would have done as well as it has done IMO (minus the entry in the top 5 obviously). Hopefully Lego House can be another big hit for him.

Top 100 update coming up.

I heard Cry Baby on Radio 1Xtra last week. It was the first time I heard it. It's really not that bad. Not as bad as I was expecting considering it's Cee-Lo. Certainly better than Forget You and I Want You. :drama:

So glad Matt Cardle isn't #1. Popularity fading already. Never should have won.

Then again One Direction and Cher Lloyd never should have won yet they're enjoying number 1 singles  Not directed at you btw, just in general it's great they didn't win

Edited by danielXF

I wanted Cher to win, but I think Matt is a great singer. Rebecca was really good and One Direction were good too (well, they were at the beginning when they did their seperate auditions).
in terms of talent, 2010 was possibly the best ever year for XF :o the final 4 are all good in their respective genres - granted Matt's not got off to a great start, but the song is poor, hopefully the album will be better and do well for him

Doubt it. I'd put a years wages on Cardle and syco parting by easter 2012

I can't remember which year it was, but my favourite was the one with Anthony, Shayne Ward, Chico, Journey South, etc. My favourite of all was Brenda. She was INCREDIBLE! :D
