Posted October 14, 201113 yr Both of these songs are released on the 23rd of October. Seems to be shaping up to be an interesting battle. Who do you think will be #1 or if you don't think either will, which do you think will be higher)? -_oLfC5Z_Ys vs. u0fk6syQ7iY I think Professor Green will edge it and get his first #1 but hoping Labrinth will get it. It could be a close battle.
October 14, 201113 yr It'll be an interesting one - not sure which artist has the biggest fanbase. Obviously the Emeli Sande and Tinie Tempah additions make it all the more difficult - with the former being popular at the moment, while Tempah has disappeared for the time being. It's annoying as the two songs are so different - Professor Green's a lyrically brilliant rap/ballad, Labrinth's an incredibly-produced dance track. I'll be purchasing both, so would happily settle for them debuting at #1 and #2 in the singles chart - beating the highest peaking solo single each artist has currently ('I Need You Tonight', 2010 and 'Let the Sun Shine', 2010 both peaked at #3). For the purpose of the poll thought, I'm going to go with Professor Green - it's just an incredible power ballad/rap and is up there with other similar songs such as 'Runaway' and 'Love the Way You Lie'.
October 14, 201113 yr Love both, on one hand I would love Emeli Sande to have a #1 single under her belt, and the lyrics and melody are fantastic, however I have been obsessed with 'Earthquake' for weeks now and the beat and production are just brilliant. I think I would prefer 'Earthquake' to be #1 as I can see myself getting bored with 'Read All About It' more quickly, however I think realistically 'Read All About It' will be the #1. I am glad both look to be doing well, as they are both great.
October 14, 201113 yr Both great songs. Amazing production on Earthquake but I've been a prof fan for years now and hope he gets the #1 spot.
October 14, 201113 yr This would be such a good top 2, if it happens. It's a shame both of them can't be #1 really. :( I won't vote, because I genuinely don't have a clue what could happen.
October 14, 201113 yr I think Labrinth will do it tbh, there's a possibility of an XF slot for Labrinth, and the fake and the pre-order seem to be overtaking Pro Green's now, plus I think the artists are slightly more established names - I do hope I'm wrong though, I'm really liking RAAI and just not getting Earthquake atm, it sounds so messy
October 14, 201113 yr I've voted for Professor Green as I really think his new single has the potential to be a really big hit. It's easily my fave single of his to date and Emeli Sandé's vocals in the chorus really suit the track brilliantly.
October 15, 201113 yr I like some of Read All About, mainly the chorus, but Green's voice in parts really grates and he sounds like a whining spoilt brat.
October 15, 201113 yr I won't vote, because I genuinely don't have a clue what could happen. I won't vote either for the same reason, plus the other one which always gets me into trouble if I so much as hint at it. ;) Edited October 15, 201113 yr by vidcapper
October 15, 201113 yr Oh, I just notice that Professor Green is on the X factor... so it has it in the bag I think.
October 15, 201113 yr Oh, I just notice that Professor Green is on the X factor... so it has it in the bag I think. If that's the case it's secured, I'd be fascinated to see what would happen if both of them were on as then it would make the battle fair again and could see sales of over 100k for both. Quite like both songs so don't mind which comes out top really.
October 15, 201113 yr Oh, I just notice that Professor Green is on the X factor... so it has it in the bag I think. Where did you read this?
October 15, 201113 yr Author Why the f*** is Pro Green performing but not Labrinth who's actually signed to Syco? That's #1 in the bag for the Prof then :( I really hope that's just a rumour. Edited October 15, 201113 yr by Bré
October 15, 201113 yr Where did you read this? I see what you did there :kink: if Pro Green's performing then I guess he'll do it then :D although its odd that he supports the direct competition to one of his signed acts, not very smart there Simon
October 15, 201113 yr if Pro Green IS performing on XF (over Labrinth, who is signed to Syco!!) then he'll get it. But I'm not sure. They're both obvious smashes, which is annoying as they both could have been number 1's if they were released in different weeks. I'd prefer Pro Green over the two, but Labrinth's song is MASSIVE in clubs. That bassline is already well known!
October 15, 201113 yr I really like both songs and wish they'd both be able to get to #1 :( I think Read All About It will get to #1 that week, even without an X Factor performance. But I think Earthquake will probably sell more in the long run. I prefer Earthquake too ^_^
