November 8, 201113 yr I don't know if Spector have been mentioned yet, but I'd expect them to feature. F7Rbfbx-3rU Out of those mentioned in this thread I already know and love: Fixers, Niki & The Dove, Lucy Rose and Two Wounded Birds. :D
November 8, 201113 yr I saw that Spector track on DS earlier, really liked it! I think they do seem the type to feature on the list too.
November 8, 201113 yr Why would Skrillex be a likely winner - or contender for that matter. He's been lingering around for ages, and only got himself a T100 after R1 played the track on a loop for a few weeks. I see him more as a remixer-artist, not as a viable solo act. Nero weren't even short-listed last year - so I don't see a dubstep act being a 'big' contender this year. Modestep, Nero and Skrillex are all well established, I'd say.
November 8, 201113 yr I'm pretty sure Nero were on the list this year. Yep they were. Last years list: Anna Calvi, Clare Maguire, Daley, Esben and the Witch, Jai Paul, James Blake, Jamie Woon, Jessie J, Mona, Nero, The Naked and Famous, The Vaccines, Warpaint, Wretch 32 and Yuck. November 8, 201113 yr Even though he's not had a smash hit yet, Skrillex is too established (in my eyes) to be viably even be on the list... I do think he could break if he did an album with some guest vocals (even if it was nothing fancy, just the usual suspects, for example Emeli Sande maybe?) a la Magnetic Man but instrumental dubstep is unlikely to be successful ever commercially.
November 8, 201113 yr Ooooh Unicorn Kid inclusion would be wonderful as well  Good shout! "True Love Fantasy" was playlisted by Radio 1 recently so I'd say he was a cert as well.
November 8, 201113 yr cmXZuv5BaHg Mmmplz. (No BJSC or UP entries please!) This is my first time hearing that and I love it!
November 8, 201113 yr  This is my first time hearing that and I love it! BJSC XL ohai. But on the topic of the thread, I'd love it to be in Sound of 2012! They're certainly receiving hype on the internet, but I'm not sure if it's mainstream hype or not. It sounds as though it could receive mass appeal, especially with the popularisation of The Weeknd, Jamie xx, Jamie Woon. The trippy crossover and female vocals work great!

I'm not going to send it, someone probably will though :P I do agree, could be the token 'hit with a slightly different sound to the rest of the top 10' for the start of 2012.

Paha, they better not. I haven't competed for a while, so is there a way of unofficially reserving a track? And that would be wonderful.
November 9, 201113 yr Yep they were. Last years list: Anna Calvi, Clare Maguire, Daley, Esben and the Witch, Jai Paul, James Blake, Jamie Woon, Jessie J, Mona, Nero, The Naked and Famous, The Vaccines, Warpaint, Wretch 32 and Yuck. Full list from 2003-2011: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_of... That 2009 list is just an embarrassment of riches. Even beyond GaGa you've got two album chart-toppers (White Lies and Florence) one of which sold over a million, one #1 single (La Roux) plus big singles from Little Boots and Kid Cudi. Actually, 2004 and 2008 were even better if anything.

Actually, 2004 and 2008 were even better if anything. Mumford & Sons were on the 2009 longlist too (missed the top 10) and they have a million selling album that's also been massive in the USA. I would probably say Mumford & Sons are the second biggest success on the 2009 list actually - Florence + The Machine have had some success in the USA also but 'Lungs' only got to #14 there and went Gold, while 'Ceremonials' should debut at #6 this week. 'Sigh No More' went to #2 and has gone platinum. 'The Cave' and 'Little Lion Man' are both on about equal success to 'Dog Days Are Over' Stateside too, although DDAO peaked higher (#21 compared to #27 and #45 respectively). November 9, 201113 yr Of the 'unknown acts' that I'm aware of. I'd Imagine Oh My! Bright Light Bright Light Florrie would probably make the list.
