November 24, 201113 yr You are not disabled. There is absolutely no reason at all you can't stack shelves, man a till or do a basic office job. OH WAIT. I forgot laziness. I ask again. Are you a Dr.? NO. So you can't say what I am or am not capable of doing. Why would a GP say he'll back me to the hilt then if I'm a lazy workshy skivver? Answer that please. He has his job to think of.
November 25, 201113 yr However, the current system doesn't allow for that. The system should be flexible enough to allow for people on incapacity benefit to work a variable number of hours. Some weeks that may be zero while in other weeks it may be a full working week. Agreed. They could deduct what you earn from your IB. Yet the test is can you work a 5 day week every week or not at all. Some weeks when I'm not as depressed maybe I could do a few hours but the system doesn't allow for that and neither do employers. November 25, 201113 yr You give the impression you revel in your benefits Chris, so don't go bleating when we point out this to you and make (agreed generalised) judgement.

The sooner they bring in time limited benefits the better for this country.
November 25, 201113 yr At any rate and back on topic- No the recession hasn't affected me really- fortunately I'm in the same job now as I was when the recession started back in 2008 (although technically we're not in a recession at present) . But I'm buying my first house next year so that will have a BIG effect on outgoings so we'll wait and see.
November 25, 201113 yr What an evil Government we have now. What happened to 'Cameron will put the Great back into Great Britain'? :manson: We TOLD you this would happen before the election, and you still supported the Tories to the hilt. What's your excuse?
November 25, 201113 yr What happened to 'Cameron will put the Great back into Great Britain'? :manson: We TOLD you this would happen before the election, and you still supported the Tories to the hilt. What's your excuse? Chris is a typical example of the mindless tabloid-reading sheeple out there. They're not interested in the actual issues, or the actual consequences of policy, they just listen to the spin of a bunch of suits and actually believe the bullshit... An 18-20 year old voting for the first time has an excuse, they dont know any better..

November 25, 201113 yr bullshit, I'm 19, and I voted in the last general election and I'll have you know that I know far better than (Crazy) Chris. You're not the average 18-20 year old though.... And, obviously, even a braindead chimp probably knows more than CC....
November 25, 201113 yr You're not the average 18-20 year old though.... And, obviously, even a braindead chimp probably knows more than CC.... Erm I do have 6 O-levels Scott, ONC Business Studies and C&G Computer Programming so am hardly thick. :D
November 25, 201113 yr Erm I do have 6 O-levels Scott, ONC Business Studies and C&G Computer Programming so am hardly thick. :D Academia =/= intelligence. If people with 1st class honours can have no common sense, I fear for you.

November 25, 201113 yr I'd say most people with 1st Class degrees do have common sense though. This government argues otherwise :P
November 25, 201113 yr This government argues otherwise :P Exactly.. Look at David Cameron. Supposedly had the best education daddy's money could buy.. And yet, cant even get the dates right of when America entered WW2....
November 25, 201113 yr You're not the average 18-20 year old though.... And, obviously, even a braindead chimp probably knows more than CC.... that was sort of my point.
November 25, 201113 yr Some of you people are disgusting. Do you know Common Sense personally? How do you know what he is and isn't able to claim? The problem with you lefties  I have had no issues whatsoever in the recession. People are making a big deal out of nothing.
November 25, 201113 yr The recession didn't affect me initially-before it started I was a poor student and continued that way of life until very recently. It first affected me when I struggled to find work after completing my PGCE. And even now the job I have is only temporary.
November 25, 201113 yr Erm I do have 6 O-levels Scott, ONC Business Studies and C&G Computer Programming so am hardly thick. :D I'd discount that computer programming one as it's entirely irrelevant. Literally EVERYTHING has changed in the past 2 decades. And I have 8 standard grades, 6 highers, 2 advanced highers, a NVQ, a NPLQ and a Degree. I fail to see your point in bragging about 6 O-levels. And Thom_robb has to be either a complete troll or fucking retarded. "Big deal out of nothing". What a load of shit.
November 25, 201113 yr I'd discount that computer programming one as it's entirely irrelevant. Literally EVERYTHING has changed in the past 2 decades. Just as a matter of interest do they still use COBOL as a programming language?
