January 7, 201213 yr Lana is performing on Jonathan Ross tonight! (9:30pm ITV1) Does anyone know whether she's having an interview too?
January 7, 201213 yr "Video Games" was a grower on me and I really like it now but "Born To Die" is AMAZING. Clicked with me on first listen, shall have to get the album now.
January 10, 201213 yr There going to be a deluxe edition with 3 extra tracks and the videos for the 2 singles! Still SO excited for this album!
January 11, 201213 yr Looking forward to having a finished version of National Anthem. This is GOOOOD.
January 12, 201213 yr Just downloaded Born To Die for free from US iTunes :) http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/born-to-d...gle/id493395960
January 14, 201213 yr The billboard article is out. It's a good read and addresses (while not really answering) the whole "authenticity debate. http://www.billboard.com/#/features/lana-d...52.story?page=1
January 15, 201213 yr Blue Jeans is unwatchable. She should've performed it like this: F_W5EGMHdBE I don't think the full band helped with the TV nerves.
January 15, 201213 yr I didn't think she was great on Jonathan Ross the other week either. One not to pay to see live methinks.
January 15, 201213 yr And I thought an artist such as Lana would have a unique voice singing live much like the categories of singers like Adele, Duffy etc but poor girl..
January 15, 201213 yr For an artist who relies so much on character/allure, it really doesn't carry across in her live performances. The bouncing around between so many voices makes it really hard to watch when she should be sticking to that one sickly sweet voice of the Blue Jeans chorus and her movement around the stage is so awkward and clumsy. Bet her management team are not pleased.
January 15, 201213 yr As Chris has said BECAUSE she relies so heavily on character/allure, to me, she will only "work" live when it's stripped back and just her. Having a whole band muddies the waters. I hold no aligiance to her at all, but bare in mind she has stated repeatedly she suffers from terrible nerves and doesn't enjoy playing live. We'll see how she evolves over time with more gigs.
January 15, 201213 yr If she does have any longevity in her career (and that's a big if coz, despite loving her output so far, I see her as a bit of a one-trick pony) then she can always do a Kate Bush.
January 16, 201213 yr She was beyond nervous, and maybe this was all so overwhelming with the album being released in 2 weeks. Video games was good, but blue jeans was terrible, she should never sing that live again. Daniel Radcliffe was nervous and terrible too from what I've heard and that could have thrown her, but she had a bad case of nerves. Juliette Lewis needs her head read, she's was vicious. I love the lsnippet of million dollar man on oh no they didn't, honestly that acapella quite simply slays the doubters, the girl can sing and performance will come in time.
January 16, 201213 yr Saying that, I was quite impressed with her Jools Holland performance of Video Games which was the first live performance of hers I'd seen. But yeah. the Jonathan Ross one wasn't great and those examples posted above are a little embarrassing. :(
January 16, 201213 yr I think I'm liking Born To Die more than Video Games right now. Video Games is absolutely gorgeous, but something stops me from listening so much now, I hope Born To Die doesn't suffer the same fate. :(
January 17, 201213 yr Oh who cares whether she had a few dodgy tv performances. If the records are any good I will get them regardless of whether she is a good live singer. That hasn't stopped me buying everything Ian Brown has recorded. Would never see him live tho'.
