Damn. T-Pain out of the top 10. It's a shame, 5 O'Clock was so different, but it's done great anyway. And it's not like Mama do the Hump is generic, so it's okay.

Has "What Doesn't Kill You" climbed since the video release?
Pixie Lott is one of those typically British popstars who bring nothing new to the table. The type of act who will never be a successful export in other countries. The music she releases could've been released by Billie in 1998, or Jamelia in 2004. Literally nothing exciting about this girl at all. Her latest single is the most forgettable track I've heard in a while too. There's no hook, no decent chorus. She's lucky her loyal fanbase got it to #10 but the fact it plummeted from week 2 onwards speaks volumes.

Very true. -_-

Rizzle Kicks are #10! :cheer: :D

The Military Wives with Gareth Malone are on Graham Norton show next Friday, another boost :( no hope for Little Mix for a second week.

Don't tell me even you are buying into the bizarre hype of Military Wives?

Think about it.

How many woman are in that chior? You can imagine their relatives, close friends and the "oh, I know her, she lives down the road from me" brigade will be out in force buying the single.

There's been a TV documentary plus various other TV appearances so other people will be aware of the song.

If it is midweek #1 next week, the media will lap it up. Gareth Malone might even end up on the front page of the newspapers if there's a slow news day. More exposure = more sales.

It's a charity single. If bloody 'Islands In The Stream' (the most ironically unfunny Comic Relief single ever) and 'Walk This Way' by Girls Aloud Vs Sugababes can both be #1 singles, then this definitely deserves to be.

So that would be several hundred potential sales, then...

What does awaremess of a song have to do with anything? There are thousands of songs I'm *aware* of, but wouldn't buy without a gun to my head...

AFAICS, the only positive thing about it would be pissing Cowell off by denying him the Xmas #1.

But none of them were up against something selling anything like as much as an XF winner's single...

Totally agree. Shoat made this point in a thread called 'contrary QoLs' in the Lounge too, so you're not alone! In a time where we have people like Lady Gaga driving pop, we get Pixie coming along and bringing it back to 1999... I mean I like her but I can't help thinking she's 10 years too late.

I actually find myself agreeing with vidcapper... almost. If it were 2008 or 2010 and it was Alexandra or Matt's single's second week up against the Military Wives I'd fancy them to take it but I think Little Mix just won't sell enough next week. :(

Charlie, hence the slightly strange formatting of the name

But there are plenty of people who *would* buy the song, but of course they wouldn't if they weren't aware of the song. Awareness of a song obviously helps it out..

If the papers start going on about it I'm sure some anti-XF people could start buying MW just to do their part.

As for the last part, you mean the XF winner's single that isn't selling nearly as much as the past few years..?

I didn't believe the MW hype at first but I do now. It'll be huge with physicals, people have been asking about it in stores before the release, my best friend says that her mother is OBSESSED with the song, so she'll likely buy it. That's only one sale, but there'll be plenty of others out there which are the exact same I imagine.

My only hope is that Little Mix are only selling a lot lower than the likes of Alexandra & Matt is because people are waiting until next week to buy it, but I think it's very doubtful. :(

Alas Little Mix may be nice girls with big personalities but they are just not interesting enough or talented enough to live up to the hype.Their sales will be middling because the song is mediocre and Little Mix are bland. Even with a video their sales will probably match Leon Jackson.

Military Wives will bury the competition for the next few weeks and will get the lions share of media coverage and radio airplay.

Military Wives song is awful in my opinion, way more boring than Little Mix!
Rizzle Kicks increasing on the restr quite a bit - If they continue could go top 5 - as the gaps between them aren't huge
Wretch 32 up to #39!!! Maybe he'll climb into the top 40 next week? I thought this week would be his peak, since they released all the remixes this week, but I'd love it if it continued climbing. :)

I have a really bad feeling about MWs now. :(

Little Mix weren't my favourites on XF (obviously :P) but they were one of my general favourites so I would love for them to get the Christmas #1. The first girl-group to get Xmas #1 since 'Sound of the Underground' in 2002 (9 years ago). :D

Having said that, 'Cannonball' was a poor winner's single song choice. I like Damien Rice but his songs don't suit the winner's single. 'Your Song' by Elton John would have actually been far more suitable both lyrically and musically.

Cannonball was chosen for Janet when it semeed she would win IMO. Seems strange they would choose a single to suit her and then sabotage her though.

Also re: Pixie, I agree for the most part that she brings nothing new to the table but you can't say What Do You Take Me For? wasn't a change to what we usually get in the UK top 10. That was a risk and that was something "new to the table".
