I hope The Maccabees can get to #1 with their new album. Have to admit, they're not a band I know that much about but I think 'Pelican' is a great track (it reminds me of Vampire Weekend circa 2007) so if the album is anything like the lead single then I reckon it could be a decent album. Might have to preview the tracks on iTunes afterwards. :D

There is also a climb into the Top 10 (15-10) for Sour Marsh’s Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds album....

Paul Williams's shoddy journalism for Music Week continues. (It does make me wonder why people are prepared to pay for such poor reporting.) Week after week when it was newer, MW referred to Noel Gallagher's album as being on the 'Sour Marsh' label, when it's actually 'Sour Mash' and they've done it again today. Does no one at Music Week check their facts before publication?

Here are two previous examples of the mistake. Note that both of them are also by Paul Williams:

Not as bad as when they've repeatedly called Coldplay's album 'Xylo Myloto'.

lol... get what ya saying... but its only one mistake... 'shoddy journalism' seems a bit harsh for one small label name error... having said that ive not seen examples of other possible errors, and i do get annoyed by the general state of journalism (especially online)... does no one proof read before 'publication' these days!?!?!

Despite being a big fan of Bon Iver, I find Birdy's version better than the orginal as it provokes so much more emotions in me  [/controversial]

I think its maybe too fragile for me to like and Birdy's youth is in her voice too much.

Talking of youth, I just saw Cher's new video, is she really performing a song as if she is in a relationship with a teenage boy? She sings, then this little sprite raps a reply! I was disturbed

Are we talking Cher or Cher Lloyd here? If the latter, then she is only a teenager herself

Lloyd, I think. I hope, anyway.

21 + 4

all we need is albums called = and 25 and we have a sum.

Adele's 2015 release will sort that out for you!

We could also have a sum with albums in the top 40 if there was an '=' and a '2' (19 + 2 = 21).
Got last weeks edition of MW yesterday because i thought the first new one of 2012 was this week but was disgusted to find they only have last weeks chart reported and not a thing about the xmas chart - isnt this usually covered in a january edition?

It seems strange not writing up an update, its sad really as I do like writing them up. This is a taster of what is to come I'm afraid with no mids on a Tuesday and Thursday, hopefully it soon sink in over the coming months, with just 2 updates a week.

If we are lucky we might get some chart info from OCC later on this afternoon.

In the past Music Week used to publish the missing chart in the first issue in January. But for whatever reason Music Week decided not to publish (in the magazine) the charts for both week ending December 24, 2011 and December 31, 2011. No magazine was published for two weeks over the holidays this time hence two weeks worth of missing charts. However subscribers to the magazine were able to download both sets of charts as PDF files.

I must say my work day has taken a huge dive as I looked forward to sneaking on here and catching the midweeks everyday :(

Its annoying considering its the biggest chart of the year with the biggest sales. I shall have to do it manually for this year!! :(
