January 10, 201214 yr Torches could get a new peak inside the top 10 then this week! Downloaded the album myself, and it's brilliant! Edited January 10, 201214 yr by HausofKubrick
January 10, 201214 yr It won't last...they use the midweeks when it suits them to generate sales/chart battles etc which keeps the charts, Music Week and the OCC relevant. As soon as they realise that the iTunes chart will be used and they are no longer needed...mids will be back to normal. That's what I think anyway - just another on air/on sale and chart eligible when a physical is available i.e. short lived! But I am not happy about this....

The iTunes chart is the chart of the future
January 11, 201214 yr iThink when iTunes grew into what it's doing with the charts now and with physicals losing their share to about 1% the midweeks got kinda irrelevant. Everyone can look at the current iTunes chart, release date of new songs (if they're not released on Sunday) and take some idea of how the Sunday will look. It's simple! MW was always going to die, that's an inevitable process. If they want to survive they need to transform and diversify or even change their production.
January 11, 201214 yr Erm, Mart!n, I think MW never said there won't be an update on Thursdays: The Midweek Albums chart is updated each day from Wednesday to Friday and appear online from midday to midnight. It says Wednesday to Friday. For me it includes Thursday as well :)
January 11, 201214 yr The e-mail Robbie posted says no Thursday: Due to the details of our new annual deal with the Official Charts Company, we will be publishing the midweek charts on Wednesdays from 4pm and on Fridays from 11am but not on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The OCC now retain that information exclusively. We will continue to post editorial stories using Tuesday Midweek data whenever we are permitted to. To be honest I really don't care, albums are still reasonably useful but singles just aren't. When I first discovered midweeks they were actually interesting as you didn't really know how anything was going to perform, now you know within a few places where everything is going to be, they're not really needed any more at all. If there's a surprise hit you've known for two days anyway that it's selling really well.
January 11, 201214 yr Author Erm, Mart!n, I think MW never said there won't be an update on Thursdays: It says Wednesday to Friday. For me it includes Thursday as well :) I did take that into consideration at first but that could mean anything mind you we did get mids on Thursday last week but the new rules could have come into force this week, and they even got the time wrong for Wednesday where it says mid day, where Robbie's email says different from 4pm on a Wednesday. And last Wednesday we did get a mid report from MW after 11am, hopefully we get some sort of update this morning, with the top 40 mids to follow this afternoon.
January 11, 201214 yr Author Disclaimer on MW now reads as The Midweek Singles chart will be displayed 2 days/week: every Wednesday from 4pm to midnight and on Friday from 11am to midnight.
January 11, 201214 yr Author The chart data section of the site looks very different, we no longer have YTDs charts and the Combined Album chart
January 11, 201214 yr This seriously sucks. No update at all before 4pm on Wednesday ? Erm, bring back the prehistoric age !
January 11, 201214 yr Author This is really shaping up to be a right farce, no midweeks till late Weds afternoon every week, what will members do with their time  :drama: the chart forum will explode. For all your chart needs see the iTunes thread topic.
January 11, 201214 yr Torches could get a new peak inside the top 10 then this week! Downloaded the album myself, and it's brilliant! It is good like! I just have it on repeat... Warrant is my favourite :-)
January 11, 201214 yr My predictions for Sunday 1) Jessie J 2) Flo Rida 3) Rizzle Kicks 4) Taio Cruz 5) Avicii 7) David Guetta and Sia 15) Pixie Lott 27) Gotye Edited January 11, 201214 yr by zenon
January 11, 201214 yr OUCH now I see no more mids on Thursdays either... :( On a positive note it makes the chart on Sunday more exciting. There was life before the mids too
January 11, 201214 yr This is really shaping up to be a right farce, no midweeks till late Weds afternoon every week, what will members do with their time  :drama: I've a horrible feeling they'll ask even more YTD sales questions instead... :P
January 11, 201214 yr Author I've a horrible feeling they'll ask even more YTD sales questions instead... :P Well... at the moment we are not sure if MW are going to carry on posting sales material. We didn't receive any sales till late in the day on Monday. Its like going back to the dark ages, where sales will be hard to find.
January 11, 201214 yr Radio 1 Chart Update Singles Albums updated after 4pm It's not the chart update, it's the actual chart ... or maybe it's just me ?? Oops sorry, didn't see the "updated after 4pm" bit ! :kink: It's funny how a few weeks back we were laughing at the pointless Radio 1 update when we already had the OCC daily updates, and now the Radio 1 update is the only thing we have. :( Edited January 11, 201214 yr by Hayzayy
