I notice a bit of a recurring theme in the artists behind those tracks - American, American, American, American, American :P Excluding featured artists only six Brits have had a US #1 in the 21st century and two of them (Jay Sean and Taio Cruz) required so much Americanisation that they may as well not be classed as British, which just leaves Coldplay, Adele, Leona Lewis and James Blunt. Let's look at the UK success of those four acts:

Coldplay - four, soon to be five, million selling albums, three of those over 2 million, generally one of the biggest bands in the world

Adele - her success last year in the UK requires no explanation

Leona Lewis - Spirit sold 3 million copies in the UK and Bleeding Love sold a million and spent 7 weeks at #1

James Blunt - Back To Bedlam also sold over 3 million copies in the UK, You're Beautiful spent 5 weeks at #1

Pixie doesn't come close to competing with any of that so it will take a true MIRACLE for her to overcome the nationality barrier.

That's not to say she won't get any success at all - for example The Wanted have defied all odds and made some waves in the US with 'Glad You Came', as has Ellie Goulding with 'Lights', plus Tinie Tempah had very decent success with Written In The Stars - but it's fair to say the likelihood of Pixie becoming massive in America is about zero.

Don't be silly Bray. :P Anyone can get a hit ANYWHERE with the right promotion, One Direction have hardly set the albums chart alight, but seem to be getting success pretty much everywhere they release. I'm 99% they could get success in the US, as could Pixie of she is launched with the right single.

So they're concentrating on crummy pop tarts but ignoring Pixie Lott? THE HORROR. She's one of the biggest stars in the world, a fashion icon and can send a song to #1 just by releasing a pretty mediocre video.

Oh wait, that's GaGa.

Let's put it this way. Interscope isn't what it used to be. Cash Money, Def Jam and Atlantic are better labels now. Those record labels have more than 3 successful artists atm.

'Kiss The Stars' just sounds so cheap and tacky. :( I loved 'All About Tonight' and 'What Do You Take Me For?' but this is so autotuned and very weak sounding. The video is a mess, too.

Changing the subject is always a wonderful way of getting out of an argument.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the forthcoming G.O.O.D Music collaboration album this year.

To be honest, I agree with you. I was just messing around (kind of). I don't think Pixie would have an easy time doing well in the US. I just can't think how they'd market her. The most recent obsession of the record label is Lana Del Rey. She's appearing on high-profile TV interviews, magazine covers, and everything already, even though she still hasn't had a hit in the US yet. Which is baffling, but it's exactly a repeat of what we saw with Lady Gaga a few years ago. Just millions pumped into them.

Lana Del Rey is easy to market. She's got a few good songs, and she does that whole "Look at me, I'm so mysterious and interesting" act which people fall for time and time again. Pixie, however, I just don't have a clue how they'd market her. She's just too normal. Especially with females in the US music industry, you can't really be "normal" and do well. Interscope usually spread a story to the media to hype up their artists and get everyone talking about them (e.g. Pussycat Dolls used to be strippers, Lady Gaga is actually a man, 50 Cent got shot 9 times and survived (well, 50 Cent's story was actually true, but they made sure EVERYBODY knew about it)), so they'd probably have to resort to something like that to make Pixie seem interesting, and even then, I don't think it'd happen.

"Pixie got bullied by Adele at BRIT school" would make a great angle. Make it happen, Interscope.

Sorry, but you do realize the "subject" you brought up was Lady Gaga? I have discussed her AT LENGTH on numerous occasions, and that's a massive understatement! So yes, I'm changing the subject, because I'm frankly fed up of talking about her, and I'm sure everybody else is fed up of me talking about her too.

Yeah, I've heard about that album a few times. There seems to be a good (no pun intended) amount of hype over it already, although I personally only follow a few of the artists from there (recently only Big Sean (although the subject matter on his album was quite repetitive (and his verses on Lay It On Me are NO DIFFERENT), but I've been listening to it since then, so I guess I like it ) and Kid Cudi (well only since Day N Nite, I was too lazy to actually check him out without having to hear one of his singles all over the radio unfortunately :drama:) who is dope too). I'll definitely listen to it, especially if it has Kanye production on there. I think it'll go to #1 in the US surely.

At first I didn't have a clue as to what information you were trying to impart. Then, when I got over the information overload and worked out exactly how you were presenting it, I'm thinking *wow* how long did it take you to collate all that lot (don't say one year)!

Err, 365 days, then. :P

Basically, I paste the raw T1000 data into a spreadsheet, which allows me to split out position/artist/song, then I post that to the summary sheet. No more than 5 minutes work a day.

It isn't obvious at first glance that you have months in columns and that is initially confusing, especially when one is confronted with such a mass of data, information overload again :)

Edit -forgot to ask, do the different colours mean anything?

Unfortunately I had to use one block for each month, as I am still using Excel 2003 which doesn't allow enough rows to put a whole year in one vertical block.

The colours represent chart weeks, so where you've got 7 cells together the same colour, they will all have contributed their sales to the same week.

Re :T1000 re-entries - I always find myself curious about these.

At the lower end of the chart, presumably they are pretty random, but when you are talking of top 300, I figure there needs to be a specific reason, given the sales levels needed.

That gif makes me feel a bit nauseous, I think she looks terrible lately, as for the song, I only heard it for the first time (since downloading the album and forgetting it existed) on Big Brother last night. It's very average like the rest of the album. The first album was far superior imo.
 5 Pixie Lott - Kiss The Stars
That gif just put me off my late breakfast.
I don't get the hate for Kiss The stars. I think it's Easily one of her best. The album is dire yea but this is a great song hence why it's top 5! The video is cheap but does the job for the song IMO

Just listened to the song for the first time and I really like it, maybe her best out of the three recent singles.
