I'd say Mariah's is Without You in the UK.

I'd forgotten that she'd even covered that. She'll most be remembered these days for "All I Want For Christmas"

That's not a signature tune. That is brutal murder of Harry Nilsson's version of Badfinger's song.

WARNING to anyone planning to click this link: This website is incredibly addictive. I've gone on it to look up one thing before and ended up browsing it for hours.
POOR BRAVE CHRISTINA AGUILERA! I guess she has no signature hits then! :heehee:

(I couldn't be arse to go back and quote Eyes' original post with the site on it, so quoted yours which quoted his aha)

Christina is the opposite I think. She's had so many magnificant songs that there isn't a particular one which is her "signature" song. It's more like a signature EP she's got.

Moving into Altville:

Suede: Animal Nitrate (although you could make an argument for 'Beautiful Ones')

The Cure: Probably 'Friday I'm In Love', possibly also 'Close to Me' or 'The Lovecats (The Cure being one of those examples of a group whose signature hit(s) are atypical of their general style)

Teenage Fanclub - Sparky's Dream

Eels - Novocaine For the Soul

Vampire Weekend - A-Punk

Blur - Parklife

The Divine Comedy - National Express (c.f The Cure)

Placebo - Nancy Boy

Royksopp - Either 'Eple' or 'Happy Up Here'

I agree "Nancy Boy" is probably Placebo's given it was their breakthrough hit but I reckon "Pure Morning" is more ubiquitous these days.

What is Smashing Pumpkins'? "Cherub Rock"? "Tonight, Tonight"? Probably the latter I guess.

Depends on your viewpoint :P

It's still her only solo UK #1 and is definitely the song she was remembered for in the 1990's, so anyone over the age of 30 would pick that as her signature track I'd guess.

For the youngsters, its either Hero or AIWFCIY; outside the UK its probably Hero just about everywhere as AIWFCIY was only really big in Japan.

There's about a dozen Elvis tracks I would say before "Hound Dog"

"Jailhouse Rock"

"Blue Suede Shoes" even though it was a cover

"Are You Lonesome To-Night?" again another cover

"Heartbreak Hotel"

"All Shook Up"

"Marie's The Name (His Latest Flame)"

"Return To Sender"

just for starters!

Not forgetting these, I don't think you could really name just one to be honest.

"In The Ghetto"

"The Wonder Of You"

"It's Now Or Never"

"Suspicious Minds"

Someone on the first or second page said Wake Up for being Hilary Duff's signature tune. I seriously think it would still be So Yesterday to be honest.

While I am here. Atomic Kitten- Whole Again :P

'Wake Up' is so much better though  But yeah I'd think 'So Yesterday' would be hers. But she's more known as Lizzie McGuire so she shouldn't really have a signature hit

This is a better list than the ones most other people are coming up with imo. I agree with most of these (except for maybe Katy Perry, where I'd say I Kissed a Girl).

'Firework' will quite clearly go on to become Katy Perry's signature song in the longrun.

I'd even suggest 'Every You Every Me', I regularly see it in the lower regions of the iTunes chart and it strikes me as somewhat more 'well known' than their top 5 singles.

I know GaGa is still relatively new in the industry (been around 3 or 4 years) but I'm struggling between whether Poker Face, Bad Romance or Born this Way for her signature hit?

They all go ram-na-ram-na-i'm gaga-ram-la-la or words to that affect so it doesn't really matter.
