If you mean *fans*, why not just say so!

Stans are names after the Eminem song of the same name, i.e. obsessed fans

Yeah, and the song has only been out for 24 hours aswell, and even Turn Me On has overtaken it.

I can't believe Turn Me On has had such a big boost from the video. Could be a future #1 maybe?

I've thought Turn Me On could be a #01 from the first time I heard it

Me too, I remember when I first heard the album, my immediate thought was 'why on earth hasn't he released this yet?'!

I guess we should've known back then it was destined to be a big hit:

[02]01| Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger (Studio Recording from the Voice Performance) (also #69, Soul Seekerz Radio Edit #106)

[01] 02| Example - Stay Awake (Extended Mix #116)

[03] 03| Olly Murs feat. Rizzle Kicks - Heart Skips A Beat

[05] 04| Calvin Harris - Feels So Close (Extended Mix #141, Benny Benassi Remix #246)

[04] 05| Ed Sheeran - You Need Me, I Don't Need You (Live Ustream Version #223, feat. Wretch 32 & Devlin #240)

[10] 06| Sean Kingston - Party All Night (Sleep All Day) (also #71)

[06] 07| Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts

[08] 08| Wretch 32 feat. Josh Kumra - Don't Go (also #57)

[09] 09| Bruno Mars - Marry You

[07] 10| Cover Drive - Lick Ya Down

[12] 11| David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On

[13] 12| JLS feat. Dev - She Makes Me Wanna

[11] 13| Emeli Sandé - Heaven (Nu:Tone Remix #159)

[14] 14| Rizzle Kicks - Down With The Trumpets

[16] 15| Will Young - Jealousy (also #38)

[15] 16| Ed Sheeran - The A Team (also #288)

[17] 17| Jessie J - Who's Laughing Now (also #169)

[18] 18| Adele - Set Fire To The Rain (Moto Blanco Edit #290)

[19] 19| David Guetta feat. Taio Cruz & Ludacris - Little Bad Girl (also #92, Instrumental Club Mix #187)

[20] 20| Nicole Scherzinger - Wet

Imagine if it had gone just slightly higher into the top 10 back then! :o It would've probably got a massive top 10 boost, playlisted by Radio 1 and Capital, and maybe pushed as the third single instead of Without You.

I've thought Turn Me On could be #1 since it went top 20 on cherrypicking alone...

'Without You' is beginning to look like an odd choice of third single as Titanium and Turn Me On are going to massively outperform it.

What's more shocking is that 'Marry You' was #9 on iTunes. :o I can't remember it getting that high. I'm assuming it "done a Love On Top" and only made the top ten right at the weekend but was then pushed out again by new releases. :(

Regarding Guetta, I can't believe the two most generic tracks on the album were the first two singles. :o Both sound amazing in a club, granted, and Minaj's verse is fantastic in 'Where Dem Girls At'? but 'Turn Me On', 'Titanium', 'Repeat', 'Without You'. and 'I Can Only Imagine' are the best on the album and should have been the first four singles in that order. The Usher song *is* pretty good but I still don't think it should have been picked third.

Mind you, I don't think it matters to Guetta as he's always going to sell singles no matter how well/badly his albums do purely because every release has a different vocalist and production. I imagine he'll get another couple of huge singles out of the album if he pushes for it, although I suppose he'll end up re-releasing. <_<

"Without You" did far better as 3rd single than it would do as 5th single though I'm sure, for someone like Guetta who never has massive album sales over a single week it's more important to get a good run of singles going. "Titanium" and "Turn Me On" clearly haven't suffered too much.

Yeah, I think that's what happened. Set Fire to the Rain, Marry the Night and Skinny Love also went top 10 on iTunes briefly last year, but missed it officially. It's a shame when that happens, especially when you like the song.

It's depressing to look at that list, and then realize Jar of Hearts is STILL in the top 40. :nocheer:

Yes, I figured out where it came from, but not why.

Madonna is already starting to decrease according to Kworb and she hasn't even broken the top 10 yet :o :(

The video (that just seems to have appeared) should help with that - though surely it's best that she *not* sell too many while the song is ineligible to chart?

Yes, I figured out where it came from, but not why.

Because the titular character Stan killed himself because he didn't get a reply back from his idol, which was a very extreme thing to do, and so extreme loons are now called stans (obviously no-one kills themselves over Marry The Night not reaching top 10 as far I know :P).

I think Nas must've been the first person to actually use the word "stan" with the meaning of "obsessed fan", on his famous diss track called Ether, which came out the year after Stan.

I hope so, its has minimal Minaj rapping and I feel we should support Nicki in this direction. ;)

Yeah, a lot of people seem to think she's better as a singer than a rapper.

I don't think she's that bad at rapping though. I think people sometimes try and take her too seriously.

Madonna  #15

Good to see it's already falling :cheer: :cheer:  :P

I adore Nicki's raps, I try and learn almost every single one (I'm turning into a bit of a Minaj loon) - they're so full of personality, even if they're lyrically not that great.

Exactly, she always injects personality into even the most lifeless and generic songs (2012 being the biggest example, which is dire without Nicki). I can understand why she's not to peoples taste but I seriously love her.

Glad I'm not the only one  I've been looning her to this extent for a while now, as Jack says I can see why people don't like her but personally I love her!
