If Kelly Clarkson ever did Radio 1 Live Lounge, I hope for the cover she performs something like 'Somebody That I Used to Know'. I think that would suit her.

A bit late on this one, but anyway: the last time she went on the Live Lounge (promoting 'My Life Would Suck Without You'), she did a cover of... 'Since U Been Gone'... so I wouldn't expect anything that adventurous from her.

I love how confident everyone is on here about future releases and how well they'll do. I don't think One Direction are guaranteed a top 20 hit at all. Just because The Wanted managed to break the top ten on iTunes doesn't mean that other boy bands can break through. Even The Wanted might end up being one hit wonders over there (ala Tinie Tempah so far). The fact people are saying they could be in the US top ten for months and be there alongside Cher Lloyd is absolutely bonkers. :o The US is a very unpredictable market. I could see 1D getting a top 100 hit, but Cher? There's so many other young females on the scene in the US better than Cher who are struggling to get a hit so what chance does she stand?

The only other British acts I could see having success (and by success I mean one or two hit singles) in the US in the future are probably Ed Sheeran, Labrinth, Olly Murs and maybe Little Mix (there's no girl bands around at all in the US) and Rebecca Ferguson (in the album chart).

I think The Wanted and One Direction have had very strong songs last year which reach outside of their core fanbase, and that could be the reason for the former's surprise success in the US (along with very good promo of course :P ), Whilst the JLS attempt was a bit half arsed to begin with, I don't think they've had anything particularly strong enough to appeal to a worldwide audience, certainly not from this era

From what I've seen, 1D have a strong US fanbase already. And Canada is to the US what Ireland is to us largely, so I think they could do well.

There's absolutely NO WAY Cher Lloyd is also joining them in the US top 10. It might chart on the Hot 100 because Astro will draw some attention, but I very much doubt she'll get even half as far.

I'm sure people will manson this but I believe Professor Green is planning on touring America in 2012. Along with the continued rise of Emeli Sandé, perhaps we'll see 'Read All About It' doing well on US iTunes in a few months from now.

I think Cher could get in the Hot 100 (not the top 10) as the song has Astro on it, who's very popular in the US.

Little Mix, I'm not so sure about. If Labrinth ever gets popular over there like you suggested, then maybe he'll help promote them over there, but otherwize I can't see it happening.

Also, there's no girl groups there at the moment, but Interscope have got 2NE1, a new line-up for the Pussycat Dolls and Girls Generation to promote, whenever they can be bothered to. Lady Gaga is apparently going to be on tour for most of this year, so hopefully the record label can focus on other artists more now. I'm hoping there might be a 2NE1 song on will.i.am's album.

What Makes You Beautiful has been big everywhere else it's been released, I really can't see it failing to repeat that in the USA. Cher Lloyd probably won't break through but you never know.

Tinie Tempah has proven that the seemingly impossible US hit by a UK rapper is now possible, so I think Read All About It could be a hit in the USA (especially as it has the whole Alex Da Kid sound). Emeli Sandé in general has quite a good shot at US success if they try to push her over there I reckon.

The US would LOVE Emeli Sande tbh. They should definitely go for it after her album campaign the UK is over (or mostly over).

Read All About It could be a hit in the US, since it has the Alex da Kid-sounding production (the same went for Written in the Stars). However, I think it would be a bad career move for Professor Green to release that song there, since he's white, so some people would just compare him to Eminem like they do here.

At least in the UK, his first 4 singles all sounded NOTHING like Em, so the people that made the comparisons were just stupid, but Read All About It actually DOES sound like an Eminem song, so he'd run into a problem there, especially if it's the first song people hear from him. He doesn't have anything else US friendly on his album really, apart from a song called Nightmares, which is really good, but he shouldn't release that for the same reason as Read All About It.

I think Professor Green would need a new song to break the US.

 92 Jay-Z & Kanye West/ Ni**as In Paris

Who do you think will be top between DJ Fresh/Rita and Emeli Sande? Can Gotye/Kimbra hold on? Titanium maybe or can Flo Rida/Sia be #1

Who do you think will be #1 next Sunday?

And also who do you think the new entries to the Top40 will be?

I think Emeli Sande will be #1 next Sunday.

It's a bit early for me to predict with entries into the top 40, but I think possible ones are Breathing by Jason Derulo, Rapture by Nadia Ali/Avicii and Read All About It Part III by Emeli Sande (if it's not album only). I also think Heaven by Emeli Sande could re-enter, and maybe one of Maverick Sabre's previous singles if they don't enter this week and hang around long enough.

Also, I don't know when the BRITS are, but if they're next week, anything could happen tbh. And a discount could cause a random song to re-enter too.

I'm surprised Emeli Sande looks to be a contender for #1, I was thinking it had #7 written all over it. It's good that she's pulled it back after 'Daddy' (which wasn't that bad), she should see a hugely successful year ahead of her now.

Fun. 'We Are Young' is smashing on US iTunes! Is there any sign of it over here? It's brilliant! (Although I do slightly prefer the Glee version!) I'd like to see that become at LEAST the 'Pumped Up Kicks'/'L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.' of this year!

EDIT: It's at #718! :(

I'm sure it'll be a hit here, no way it won't really seeing how massive it is in the USA - it just needs some support. I'm sure Radio 1 playlist it, they've supported Janelle in the past I believe?

I think with support 'We Are Young' could be as big as 'Somebody That I Used To Know'.

Hey, Soul Sister and Pumped Up Kicks also were massive hits in the US, though, and got to #1 on iTunes, etc, etc. and did awfully here in comparison when you compare the chart runs. So I could see We Are Young just being a low top 20 hit if it gets promoted here.

A long-running low top 20 hit still counts as a hit and I'd be shocked if We Are Young does any worse than that.

Yeah, I guess. I can see it having a You Da One-esque chart run, which would be good (10+ weeks in the top 40 and top 20 peak).

My early prediction for next week's official chart:

1. DJ Fresh - Hot Right Now

2. Emeli Sande - Next to Me (but will probably climb to #1 a week later after BRITs)

3. Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know

4. Flo Rida feat. Sia - Wild Ones

5. David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium

6. Jessie J - Domino

7. William - T.H.E.

8. David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On

9. Alyssa Reid - Alone Again

10. Cover Drive - Twilight

Will Young performed on Graham Norton tonight, might give his album a bit of a boost.
