February 5, 201214 yr Chart Run: 16-31-53-xx(18 wks)-61-8-3-2-1 [8 wks] Has that chart run broke any sort of record, with regards to the length of time between a song first charting and reaching #1? I haven't heard Alyssa's song in full before, but I heard part of it once on the radio, and it sounded really nice.
February 5, 201214 yr "Alone Again" isn't bad IMO but it's still by far the weakest song in the top 3. Great top 3 really.
February 5, 201214 yr 'Alone Again' and 'Titanium' are both extremely anthemic sounding tracks though - so makes for a nice finish to the chart show. Thrilled that 'Titanium' is at #1 though - now let's just hope it can hold off will.i.am and claim a second week at the summit.
February 5, 201214 yr Reggie seems to know more chart facts this week, he mentioned there how Titanium reduced its price this week.....is he on here at last lol! It would've been interesting to see if Titanium would have been number 1 if the price would have stayed the same.
February 5, 201214 yr Imagine how massive 'Titanuim' would have been if it had been released as the lead single from NBTB? If it can still get to #1 after being out for ages and being the fourth single from the album. Would have been one of the biggest selling songs of 2011 I think, at least EOY top 10 material.

I haven't heard Alyssa's song in full before, but I heard part of it once on the radio, and it sounded really nice. "Reet Petite" by Jackie Wilson used to hold the record and it was something ridiculous like 18 years. "Telephone" I think holds it for an unbroken chart run.
February 5, 201214 yr Oh, only 2 new entries and 1 re-entry in the top 40. This is not good, right?
February 5, 201214 yr It would've been interesting to see if Titanium would have been number 1 if the price would have stayed the same. I thought about that aswell. I think Titanium could've still have got #1 anyway (due to Alyssa's frontloadedness), but obviously it would've been a lot closer. And Gotye would be #1 on iTunes atm if that happened I think. Oh, only 2 new entries and 1 re-entry in the top 40. This is not good, right? I would like more new entries in the top 40 personally. There's a lot of really stale songs in here, and apart from the odd song that free-falls, most of the chart moves extremely slowly. It's not neccessarily a "bad" thing though, just a bit boring (in my opinion). Edited February 5, 201214 yr by Eric_Blob
February 5, 201214 yr Titanium number 1 - this is obviously most pleasing :P along with Paradise, that's two of my favourite songs of last year that have been number 1 in 2012 :D Alone Again is growing on me hearing it again, but there is NO WAY that deserved number 1 over Guetta Edited February 5, 201214 yr by C.W
February 5, 201214 yr Still can't believe how well Alone Again has done here since I heard the track 4 months ago, I'd have been incredibly pleased with any top 10 position, so #2 is brilliant, such an anthemic track. Going into Titanium, as the #1! FINALLY!
February 5, 201214 yr Author Titanium number 1 - this is obviously most pleasing :P along with Paradise, that's two of my favourite songs of last year that have been number 1 in 2012 :D Snap! :D Goyte for #1 next plz.
February 5, 201214 yr Oh, only 2 new entries and 1 re-entry in the top 40. This is not good, right? Maybe not but theres so much more happening if you look closer with climbers etc!
February 5, 201214 yr Can I add my voice to the chorus of YAY @ Titanium    Probably his best song ever, apart from When Love Takes Over. Oh, only 2 new entries and 1 re-entry in the top 40. This is not good, right? It's OK, the early part of the year is always quite slow. It will pick up in the next few weeks.
February 5, 201214 yr It annoys me that Alyssa Reid has outpeaked the original of 'Alone', but 'Titanium' being #1 more than makes up for it! So bizarre for Guetta to get #1 with the fourth (fifth if you include 'Sweat' - the only artist album that you can find the remix on) single from Nothing but the Beat.
February 5, 201214 yr It's not often the best song in the whole top 40 is #1, SO pleased about this. Alyssa beating it to #1 would've been a tragedy. Best #1 since 'Bad Romance' or so for me. (although I'll need to look over all the #1s since to confirm this) Also GREAT #1 album too, very pleased about this week's chart all round.
February 5, 201214 yr "Reet Petite" by Jackie Wilson used to hold the record and it was something ridiculous like 18 years. "Telephone" I think holds it for an unbroken chart run. Yeah, that's correct about Telephone (if you base it on top 100 runs). Okay, Jackie Wilson's record will probably not be beaten in a long time then. Titanium, however, shows how a good song can be sitting on iTunes for months, and not sell much (although it was always top 1000) without high radio airplay and a music video.

As they say if a songs good enough itll rise to the top..which is exactly why i endorse OA/OS approach to releasing singles! Edited February 5, 201214 yr by steve201
February 5, 201214 yr Titanium is superb and I am so glad that the majority of people seem to think so. Tis a beautiful and well-deserved #1.
February 5, 201214 yr Where oh where would Gotye have been were it not for Batidas? He has a lot to thank Hitstastic for. :D Wait until Gotye is #1 :P What a brilliant top 10 this week. 'Titanium' rightly #1, Gotye top 3 and 'Born To Die' climbing into the top 10. Yay!!! :D
