'Next to Me' at 59p is a really cheeky tactic - but I guess they want it to chart highly in the hope the album release doesn't hinder its position - still baffles me as to why they couldn't release them on different weeks (likewise with Will Young's 'Jealousy', Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' and Maverick Sabre's 'No One').

Would rather see Gotye & Kimbra be #1, but only if they are #1 officially this week. Don't think I can put up with all these one-week #1s again, it's like Summer 2011 all over again.

Why would it bother you at all? Surely it's a good thing that there are lots of songs going to #1? It's more interesting than seeing the same song at the top every week. And before you say that last summer had tons of non-#1's in front of 'Moves Like Jagger', 'No Regrets' sold about 300K and 'All About Tonight' and 'Heart Skips A Beat' were big hits, and 'Stay Awake' and 'Don't Go' both had pretty decent sales too. Only 'Swagger Jagger', 'Promises' and 'Loca People' actually underperformed.

Is I Will Always Love You close to the top 10 with combined pop bars?

It is #14 combined.

It is #14 combined.

Good. 2 songs in the top 20 would be nice, with another 2 in the top 40. Leona Lewis must be crushed, she looked up to Whitney so much and her performance of "I Will Always Love You" is one of the most remembered in X-Factor history.

I'm sure she is. Whitney and Mariah were two of her main inspirations. :(

I hope 'I Have Nothing' manages to go top 40 at least.

I imagine Leona maybe asked to do a tribute for the Brits - at least I hope so!

Fuck. Wherever You Will Go is being performed on Dancing On Ice :drama:
"Wherever You Will Go" being used on Dancing On Ice. Perhaps another climb? :P

I'm Into You used as well, using the theme of Valentine's loosely :P

Jorgie Porter seems to have a tendency to skate to the classics, so I'd not be surprised to see her with I Will Always Love You tbh, she's certainly able to do it justice, she's amazing

FFS at Charlene being used on DOI, that'll be its chart run being extended by another couple of weeks <_<

Woo DJ Fresh :cheer: Really hope he gets the official #1, it looks fairly set in stone now but Emeli could still present a challenge as she has the album version from tomorrow. Plus I suspect 'Next To Me' will be less frontloaded anyway.

I will do a full Whitney top 300 update alongside the regular 8pm update.

Late, but i am absolutely devasted at the Whitney Houston news. Such a tragic loss.

As its on a Sunday, the songs should get a full week to chart, and so could do fairly well come next Sunday

^ Yeah, Leona is definitely a good enough singer to do it. And I guess Whitney was an influence to her. But Jennifer and Mariah actually had connections to Whitney, like in terms of the music industry.

Well Leona Lewis could be connected to Whitney Houston through Clive Davis

Oops sorry, you edited that while I was doing one.

Oh, that's also how Jennifer Hudson is connected to Whitney (Clive Davis and Jennifer Hudson were both on American Idol, and she got signed to his label).

It didn't occur to me that Leona could be too, but she's broken the US, so it's possible. Perhaps she's on his label too.

Plus Leona had actually met Whitney a couple of times when "Bleeding Love" was released in America in 2008.

Simon Cowell said on Pop Idol or X_Factor or whichever one she won, while she was celebrating, that he'd had a call from Clive Davis and he said that win or lose he would be taking Lewis on for America.
