March 11, 201214 yr Rack City will be Top 40, won't it? :( I doubt it. Oh well. If his album is being released this week, it might make it.
March 11, 201214 yr I love that Bee Gee's song   It seems rather forgotten about these days though.
March 11, 201214 yr Great to see Arctic Monkeys hanging on for a second week :D Shame it probably won't become their first single since Fluorescent Adolescent to make it to 3 though.
March 11, 201214 yr Bloody hell, this only just held on! It was top 30 on iTunes most of the week. Still, very impressive for them to have two weeks in the top 40 these days. Hopefully as the alternative renaissance kicks off they're one of the older bands who can have renewed singles success.

March 11, 201214 yr Despite it's drop, R U Mine has done exceptionally well for an Alternative/Rock song that came out of nowhere! :o

March 11, 201214 yr Is a renaissance coming then? "Somebody That I Used To Know" and "We Are Young" suggest so. That sort of gentle indie pop seems to be the next big thing in the US, particularly with "Pumped Up Kicks" spending an aeon at #3 over there last year. History dictates that generally the UK embraces a different sub-genre of rock to the one the US does and it comes soon after it (Grunge followed by Britpop, for instance) so it won't be long. Hopefully.
March 11, 201214 yr Is a renaissance coming then? I'm not sure what "renaissance" actually means. But if it means "resurgance in popularity", then I think yes, there clearly is one coming.
March 11, 201214 yr Is a renaissance coming then? There's hope, with the all-conquering success of Gotye and possibly similar from fun. to come very soon. And here's another alternativey song at #38  Hopefully this will climb next week, but a 3rd week top 40 is great anyhow.
March 11, 201214 yr I'm hardly an expert but saying 'I had an acquaintance of [blah]' sounds wrong to me  IDK really. Come to think of it maybe 'with whom' is better than 'to whom'. I never really know about prepositions. We should Ask S1m who does the Chart Show Thread on Haven, He is an expert on Grammar.

March 11, 201214 yr 'Take Care' back in the top 40 :cheer: Anyone know why? (Would prefer if it was The Motto etc. but that's never going to be a hit, even #92 is pretty good for it). Edited March 11, 201214 yr by Engelbré
March 11, 201214 yr There's hope, with the all-conquering success of Gotye and possibly similar from fun. to come very soon. And here's another alternativey song at #38  Hopefully this will climb next week, but a 3rd week top 40 is great anyhow. Not to mention electropop and europop are starting to die out (FINALLY). Radio stations in the US are starting to play different things. RnB and hip hop seem to be getting more popular now too. I can see alternative music being MASSIVE in the next few years. After Gotye and fun., people will be going crazy for more imo.
March 11, 201214 yr So M.I.A., Tyga and Azealia Banks have all potentially missed the top 40 this week now - how annoying. All three deserve to spend at least one week inside the top 40!

March 11, 201214 yr 'Take Care' back in the top 40 :cheer: Anyone know why? (Would prefer if it was The Motto etc. but that's never going to be a hit, even #92 is pretty good for it). Take Care has been re-added to Capital's playlist, so I think maybe that's why? They had it on the playlist for a bit last year, and they've got it again now for some reason. I hope they release the Earthquake remix on iTunes!! Could get it another few weeks in the top 40.
