I for one am glad the chart is clearing itself from rubbish music (e.g. Dappy, JLS) and embracing some really great tracks (both lyrically and production-wise), including 'N***as in Paris' and 'Greyhound'.

I agree with you on JLS & Dippy, but don't regard the latter two as a significant improvement - though Greyhound is certainly better 'lyrically' than the other 3...

How did 212 get so high in the chart so quickly?

Quickly? Last Sunday was its 12th week oin the charts!

Ouch @ Plan B  to #9. :(

Pisses me off this is plummeting and Chris Brown is still #1.

ISTM songs with a political/protest message rarely do well (unless they are also charity songs).

Gotye  #4

Katy Perry  #5

Re your sig - IMO the blonde look really doesn't suit Marina, and I think Radioactive is a better song than Prima Donna, too. Won't stop me buying the album though. :)

BTW, my YTD sales thread seems to have been locked for some reason, so I can't post my top 40 update to it yet.
Wouldn't it be interesting if The One That Got Away eventually sold more than Part Of Me? It's probably unlikely, I think POM will be reduced as it is droppig quickly now.

Found out something quite odd last night - B.Traits is female :o Who was the last female DJ to make the top 40?

 29. If You Wanna - The Vaccines

:cheer:

Yeah, I'm not a massive fan of the blonde hair, but she is still absolutely gorgeous

Radioactive is my favourite song of the era so far, though I'm baffled why it isn't on the standard edition of the album!

Now released, and posted! :cheer:

[Goes to check whether I've already bought it... yes, fortunately.]

I dare say a few fans held off, assuming it would be on there, but now that it isn't, it may bounce back into the charts - the lower end at least.

Bleh. 'Radioactive' got boring far too quickly for me! :( 'PrimaDonna' is holding up so much better in comparison for me. Such a good song and she's one of those artists who deserves to finally breakthrough. PD better be the one to break her into the top 10 for the first time

37. Call Me Maybe - Hits Now!

57. Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen Tribute Team

59. We Are Young - We Are Young Singers

I don't know if it's because of Rihanna's input (on the 'unofficial' remix), but I feel like the only person who thinks "Turn Up The Music" is one of Chris Brown's best songs. There's just something irresistibly catchy about it and the chorus is a bit of a moment. I think the only other single of his I prefer is "I Can Transform Ya", which was never going to be #1 here. I'd prefer a Nicki Minaj #1, but I'm happy to see this single make it to the top.

Solo wise, Forever and With You were a pretty great duo of solo singles, but overall it has to be No Air, which is one of my favourite songs ever and should have been a #1, especially looking at its long top ten run (pretty standard for 2008 though I guess!)

Is Carly Rae Jespen really in her MID-TWENTIES?! CMM sounds like a song BY a sixteen year old FOR sixteen year olds. I assumed it was some standard Disney trash like Miley or Selena.

Selena is largely responsible for the song being such a hit (same with Super Bass lol), so you're not far off.

I agree, it's basically a teen-pop song. I love it though.

 CMM could have been top 20 this week!

If it was out, it would probably be #1 right now! :P

'primadonna' really deserves to do well, it's my favourite song from marina and my favourite song of the year so far. the production on it is amazing - while it uses the typical dr. luke electo beats, it manages to sound quite different production-wise. the chorus (up until the final) is nice and subtle, while the verses and final chorus are quite heavy. it just works so well as a song with marina's stunning voice.

unfortunately though I can just see it missing the top 40, even with the support it's getting from radio 1. 'radioactive' had a similar following, and that didn't turn out to do well at all. :(

02. Sean Paul - She Dosen't Know 80.5%

03. Nicki Minaj - Starships 68.5%
