LOL at Somebody That I Used To Know now actually climbing HIGHER than it got immediately after its performance on The Voice :lol: I was expecting it to be kicked back out of the top 10 by the new releases. Looks like it will get a pretty easy 18th week top 10 and take the 21st century record then! Does anyone know what the last song to spend 18+ weeks top 10 was? '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You' I'd imagine?

Jesus christ, Gotye is #6 combined, this song is just not letting up.

Looks like Picking Up the Pieces will outpeak New York now! I imagine this'll be a similar case to Only the Horses last week, and end up peaking around #11-13 officially

 

Come to think of it, if Paloma does chart at #11 next week, would we see Buzzjack meltdown No.364331?

06. Gotye 'Somebody That I Used to Know (feat. Kimbra)' :up:

 

Not going anywhere by the looks of it. Just incredible to think it's set to spend an 18th week inside the top 10, yet the majority of the great public had no idea of its existence when it was released one the first week of January. However, much like 'Moves Like Jagger', now that's it reached the 1 million sale milestone, there's not much else to accomplish - so all it's doing now is shunting other songs down the chart (though in the case of The Saturdays, who're down to #14), I don't mind too much.

Why is Gotye suddenly climbing so much again? :lol:

Not sure how I feel about Gotye beating the BEPs's record. I prefer the Black Eyed Peas as artists, but Somebody That I Used to Know I think is a lot better than I Gotta Feeling.
This is probably not the right thread to post this in, but I just saw Gotye's video for 'Eyes Wide Open' on TV - I'm pretty sure I actually heard this song before I heard STIUTK for the first time but never made the link between it and Gotye. Sounds quite different from STIUTK, I actually like it nearly as much though! Really hope it can save him from being a one-hit wonder, it obviously won't do near as well as STIUTK but I'd like to see it going at least top 20 or so. Really nice video as well.

For the biggest song of this year and possibly the biggest selling of the century by the end of the year its airplay and video play hasnt even been THAT over the top....it was radio no1 for 2 weeks and peaked at no12 on mtv charts i think?AMAZING!

I'm hoping The Wanted are frontloaded!

Interesting to see how Donna Summer and the Bee Gees will perform in the album chart this week, both will have singles in the top 100 i think but its usually albums that benefit the most from such sad passings. Its truly been a tough year with celebrities dying hopefully the last half of the year wont be as morbid.

 

Musically im not a huge fan of the bee gees or donna summer but both have a couple of songs i like, my favourite bee gees song by far is secret love but night fever or tregedy will prob pick up the most downloads. On saying that, Steps have truly made tragedy their song, maybe im wrong but i think alot of people associate tragedy with steps now and not the been gees.

Would love to see Fun get the number 1, only thing is even if Fun close the 5% gap The Wanted will still sell well enough on phyisicals and maybe enough to steal the number 1.

My dad was a big fan, so I knew and quite liked a lot of their music - sad news :(

 

although I can't help but think Stayin' Alive re-entering the top 40 would just be a bit inappropriate... (sorry!)
