May 20, 201214 yr This is not true - he is of Senegalese 'descent' but was born in the USA. Come on now, does anybody really know where Akon was born?
May 20, 201214 yr glad to see Garbage went top 10, but expected more since it's their comeback album after 7 years and it's such an amazing album!!!! happy to see 'Madonna's 'Girl Gone wild' finally & randomly in the top 75!!!
May 21, 201214 yr Two big shocks for me in the charts this week - The Gossip album A Joyful Noise staggering at at number 47..... pitiful considering it's the best album of 2012 so far. And Madonna's best single in years, Girl Gone Wild, limping in at number 73..... it's fair to say her record company have COMPLETELY f*cked up the single releases from MDNA. The only formats of this available are a 12" picture disc (mega pricey) and a 2-track CD single - retailing at a fiver.
May 21, 201214 yr Bless the Broken Road went 76->41. Quite unlucky in terms of positions. Also, I just realised that there have been several singles peaking at #7 and #13 recently. Oh dear at Gossip. At least Garbage could scrape the top ten.

May 21, 201214 yr You can buy the Girl Gone Wild 2 track cd for £3. The remix ep is £2.99 (download only) and the 8 track physical ep is £14 which isn't out here till June 11th.
May 21, 201214 yr First African artist to have a top 10? Surely that would date back to at least 1958 when Elias & His Zig-Zag Jive Flutes took their version of "Tom Hark" to number 2
May 21, 201214 yr OK, several chart milestones this week (all relate to top 75 only) Both Katy Perry & Donna Summer reach 300 weeks Top 75 Calvin Harris reaches 200 weeks Ed Sheeran reaches 100 weeks (I'm not giving him a separate credit on "Teardrop" and perhaps most impressively of all, Glee Cast have their 100th Top 75 hit - making them the first group to achieve this feat. On a Donna Summer-related note, "I Feel Love" has been a hit for the same artist in three noticeably different versions at separate times, the original in 1977, a Patrick Cowley remix in 1982 and another re-recorded version in 1995. I know "Cars" by Gary Numan has also done this, are there any others I've forgotten about at the moment?

The remix ep is £2.99 (download only) and the 8 track physical ep is £14 which isn't out here till June 11th. amazon currently have the 2-track CD single (with the frankly abysmal 4 minute remix as the 2nd track) for £4.57. 2 track CD singles usually retail for £1.99. Never buy downloads, not ever. iTunes? Ugh. And £14 for a CD single? Really? And why on earth wait til June 11th when GGW will be ancient history? Is Madonna bored of having UK hit singles? Seems so.
May 21, 201214 yr Ouch at Cover Drive on both charts. :( 30 weeks top 100 for Kelly Clarkson's album is suprising. Wonder if it could go platinum after 'Dark Side' is released?

May 21, 201214 yr Bré, you've got the Glee Cast entry at no. 69 wrong - at least according to the OCC it's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now"
May 21, 201214 yr Nice to see the tour announcement seems to have helped Kelly a tiny bit as she climbs 8 places in the albums and climbs with 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)'! What's with the random entry for Glee's 'I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You'? Is it an MW/OCC error?

May 21, 201214 yr Author Given I clearly haven't updated the top 100s yet it's an MW error... It's a good thing you pointed that out though because I probably wouldn't have spotted that, I don't really pay much attention to Glee songs these days. Edited May 21, 201214 yr by Bré

Look at their roster. Full of flops (not saying Madonna is a flop, but I mean the record label clearly has no intentions to promote 95% of the artists on there for some reason). It used to be dominating the charts a few years ago, but now they only seem to focus on 2 or 3 artists at a time. It's awful. I don't know why she went there.
