June 3, 201214 yr Evolution of drum & bass over the years, and how it's grown from just sneaking into the bottom of the top 40 into massive number 1 hits: 1995: Goldie - Inner City Life (#39) 1997: Adam F - Circles & Roni Size & Reprazent - Brown Paper Bag (#20) 2002: Shy FX & T Power featuring Di - Shake Ya Body (#7) 2010: Pendulum - Watercolour (#4) 2012: DJ Fresh - Hot Right Now & Rudimental - Feel The Love (#1) Simplified I know, but great to see it finally hitting the big time! June 3, 201214 yr i can't believe this crapp :puke2: is at number 1 with a huge sales lead while Kylie and Madonna are struggling to make the top 40 .... UK musical taste has been going downhill the past 4 or 5 years.... Edited June 3, 201214 yr by Big Mistake
June 3, 201214 yr Yeah, I never thought of reporting posts before. I don't mind that much. I just think it's unfair that people can criticize artists like Bruno Mars so easily, but they say the same things about a female electropop song and get basically attacked by everybody else. People could at least be consistent. Oh people are not consistent at all, in real life either  :(

June 3, 201214 yr Author See, it's all about opinion. One man's Loreen is another man's Rudimental (unless you like both like me). Erm, yes.
June 3, 201214 yr So, is this Maverick Sabre then or is that just an out of control rumour? He (probably!) isn't Maverick Sabre, it's just their voices are very similar and John Newman is peculiarly difficult to research.
June 3, 201214 yr Evolution of drum & bass over the years, and how it's grown from just sneaking into the bottom of the top 40 into massive number 1 hits: 1995: Goldie - Inner City Life (#39) 1997: Roni Size & Reprazent - Brown Paper Bag (#20) 2002: Shy FX & T Power featuring Di - Shake Ya Body (#7) 2010: Pendulum - Watercolour (#4) 2012: DJ Fresh - Hot Right Now & Rudimental - Feel The Love (#1) Simplified I know, but great to see it finally hitting the big time! The last two really should have had their positions swapped round - Pendulum really need a #1 ("The Island" might have done it had it been the lead single but it's not really DnB) and it would have been hilarious had fun. nicked the #1 from Loreen at the last minute.
June 4, 201214 yr It was the sweeping statement that annoyed me. Not all people that like Loreen are blinded by everything else and have a lack of perspective. I appreciate different opinions (and pretty much defend the right for others to express them) so I would appreciate people not making sweeping statements. I like tony for the record, this isn't us not getting on? Sweeping statements are bound to include (or exclude) people that are not intended for inclusion (or exclusion) and are a bad idea when that statement is as dismissive as the one I posted. Some make them for a provocative reason and what I did was partly in provocation. To give my perspective - I've listened to Euphoria a lot during the week and I've found it lacking and not nearly as effective as similar style songs. I was first put in mind of Sash!'s Mysterious Times - especially in the verse, and in the "Forever, ’till the end of time ,From now on, only you and I" part too. And the Up-up-up-up-up hook has been widespread over the last few years. The perspective that I mentioned was that I thought many were drawn to the song because of the good performance and the fact that the songs was the most Buzzjack song at the song contest and I was taking another "tony" swipe at the people who I though were suffering from a bit of tunnel vision. Of course, most pop music is always going to have precedents but the adulation for this song, I felt, was unwarranted. I failed to take into account the song might actually be great and that I might just not like it. I do go around with the attitude that my opinion is the final word, sometimes. This was one of those time and it probably wont be the last but I'll try and be less dismissive in future.
