Series 2 is supposed to only have 3(!) live shows, and the results show will be live on the same night as the main show. I like the second idea, but only having 2 lives is far too few to get used to your favourite act! There will also be between 10-20 acts per team.

Basically it all sounds like a bit of a mess at the moment, but they want to incorporate the "spinning chairs" into most shows. There'll also hopefully be a winner's single! All of this is from an interview with Danny on Tellymix.

3 live shows? We all know the live shows in series 1 didn't rate well, but I think instead of cutting them down, they should have just fixed them.

Having said that, it doesn't really bother me. Season 1 was such a disaster, that I'm not returning for the second.

The Voice has thrown in some twists and added some new cogs to the show's format for 2013, involving the coaches being able to steal acts from each other and the inclusion of a 'Killer' song round. This should spice up the midway part of the show and it means fewer live episodes, which is probably a good thing.

I'm interested about the act-stealing, but as the article says later, it does look likely that the coach's teams are still competing against one another :(

Apparently Alice Barlow who played Rae Wilson in Hollyoaks auditioned, she's got a lovely voice

There was a better format change in the American version this year, rather than having a certain number eliminated each week from each team, it was just the bottom x singers who were eliminated; if that meant a coach lost 2 of their acts then so be it. It ended up with Christina Aguilera having no acts left by top 6 or top 8 iirc, but it was fairer because the acts with less votes went, and that's what should happen (because in theory if each coach loses one a week, then theoretically an act that has more votes can go over another act that has less votes which is unfair imo).

I completely agree with that. I still think Ruth (and possibly Jaz) got more votes than Vince Kidd on the last series but because of the format, Ruth/Jaz didn't make the final whilst Vince did. It did end up reaking of "what's the point?" when each judge had one act in the final, one of whom really shouldn't have been there (that being Vince who loved himself and was too pompous for my liking). LeAnne winning just summed up why the show failed yet Tyler has been the most successful since, and even Bo did well with her EP.

I never got the impression Jaz was very popular at all. They tried to push him as the potential winner so obviously the producers rated him, but online it was mostly indifference or even dislike.

True, the producers can only go so far when it comes to making the public like one contestant over another. Iirc, this happened in Fame Academy 2 (another BBC failed talent show :D ) where they had another pompous male contestant called Paris who they tried to make out to be the best thing ever. The public disagreed and he was in the sing off multiple times but saved several weeks before the penny finally dropped and judges got rid. There's being talented, but then there's being obnoxious. Paris was both, so ultimately he failed.

Still feel sorry for Tyler James. Had he not been forced to sang the dreadful 'OMG' and sang a SONG instead, he might've actually won The Voice and saved it from being a complete anti climax. Will.I.Am just cares about the $$$ *.* $$$ (but you can't blame him)

So the winner has vanished already after flopping last year. It's a shame Tyler isn't having more success tbf. When does it return? Can't be too long away now.

Leanne will be releasing new music in April, as well Bo Bruce...we'll have to wait until then to write them off!

Although to be fair, if the BBC couldn't promote their winner's single properly then it'll happen to every single winner of The Voice UK because "they don't advertise".

ITV or Channel 4 should snap up the rights to broadcast it. That way, they can promote the winner as much as they want. Imagine if The X Factor was on BBC, we'd never know anything about the winner's single on the night of the final. Or at all. Probably explains why the two Fame Academy winners didn't set the charts on fire with massive sales compared to the likes of Will Young and Gareth Gates (it seems coming 2nd on ITV is still better than winning at the BBC) but then on ITV it's all about the revenue. Would explain why Simon Cowell would never have his show on the BBC.

In short, we need to look at why The Voice Australia & Netherlands are proving to be so popular and just do what they do. I just think being on the BBC is hindering the show's potential and success.

Surely it doesn't count if they say "Leanne's single is out now"? They say it all the time on shows like BBC Breakfast; only yesterday morning they said someone's album (who's name escapes me) is out now.

The biggest mistake they made last year was not having Leanne close the show with 'Run To You'. That would've made it seem more like a proper final than Reggie and Holly just smiling to the camera saying "we'll see you next year" before the closing credits started to roll. It was just very anti climatic in so many ways and they really need to look at why the show suffered in the end.

I stopped watching The Voice halfway through the live shows because it was so boring and dreary to sit through for two hours. They need to add in an extra aspect to the show to make it interesting for casual viewers such as myself.
I don't the live shows are awful; the only problem for me was that so many acts were axed per week and that it was per category. They should have just eliminated all contestants at the bottom of the overall vote. Also, it would have probably meant no Vince Kidd in the final and Ruth Brown or Jaz Ellington instead!
It was also a big mistake to have the results show on a Sunday, so I'm glad that's been changed. ^_^
Tbh I still Think Ruth Brown was robbed of the win last series she was amazing and would havew been a great winner I think she would have done good in the charts as well probably more of an album seller the singles though I just don't think Leanne deserved to win but I'm willing to give this series another go I enjoyed it last year until it got to the live shows really.
Ruth Brown was horrific. Thank the LORD she didnt win.

oh god she was terrible. nothing but shouty. :puke: leanne wasn't a brilliant winner, but she had a decent enough voice. bo should have won imo.

I'm actually quite looking forward to seeing this back anyway. ^_^
