Also are two new entries in the form of Enrique ft. Kelis (bringing up the rear :() and one Britney. The biggest casualty of the former qualifiers is Dannii Minogue, falling from grace in the top 20 last year to only 40th here. 35 (40) Maroon 5 - 'This Love' 123 34 (35) Maroon 5 - 'She Will Be Loved' 125 33 (23) Damien Rice 'Cannonball' 125 32 (38) The Rasmus - 'In The Shadows' 128 31 (44) Rachel Stevens - 'Some Girls' 137 30 (16) Green Day - 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' 137 29 (26) Alicia Keys - 'If I Ain't Got You' 140 28 (36) Brandy - 'Afrodisiac' 146 27 (21) Shapeshifters - 'Lola's Theme' 148 26 (33) Eric Prydz - 'Call On Me' 158 25 (NE) Scissor Sisters - 'Comfortably Numb' 160 24 (32) O-Zone - 'Dragostea Din Tei' 160 23 (24) Avril Lavigne - 'My Happy Ending' 160 22 (NE) Jay-Z & Linkin Park - 'Numb/Encore' 171 21 (NE) Blink-182 - 'I Miss You' 173 20 (15) Sugababes - 'Too Lost In You' 177 19 (17) Natasha Bedingfield - 'These Words' 182 18 (11) Anastacia - 'Left Outside Alone' 206 17 (07) Kelis - 'Trick Me' 216 16 (14) The Knife - 'Heartbeats' 220 15 (13) Destiny's Child - 'Lose My Breath' 224 14 (18) Keane - 'Somwhere Only We Know' 225 13 (09) Killers - 'All These Things That I've Done' 228 12 (NE) Kelis ft. Andre 3000 - 'Millionaire' 234 11 (22) Kelis - 'Milkshake' 236 In a turn of events that will not please Bray, Maroon 5 hold onto their autoqualifiers for next year by the skin of their teeth while a plethora of new entries make inroads into the 35-11 zone. Chief among them is Millionaire, which bizarrely overtakes Trick Me to become Kelis' second most successful entry, while the latter, being Kelis' most successful song last year, is now the least. Not a good result for my Kelis tastes,. In any case, this year she gets no songs going into the playoffs, Milkshake having missed out by 9 points. After springing surprise playoff qualifiers for 2002 and 2003, Avril does not repeat the feat in 2004, with her best song coming in at 23rd. SHAME ON YOU ALL. :( 10 (10) Franz Ferdinand - 'Take Me Out' 245 09 (06) Girls Aloud - 'The Show' 248 08 (12) Girls Aloud - 'Love Machine' 260 07 (20) Nelly Furtado - 'Try' 273 06 (08) Snow Patrol - 'Run' 299 05 (04) Outkast - 'Hey Ya!' 339 04 (05) Britney Spears - 'Everytime' 347 So 8 of the top 10 are the same as last year, and indeed, the entire top 3 is the the same. Girls Aloud do get another playoff qualfier with the wonderful Love Machine (YAY for it beating The Show) and Nelly Furtado comes from seemingly nowhere to rise into the top 10. 03 (01) The Killers - 'Mr Brightside' 401 02 (02) Gwen Stefani - 'What You Waiting For?' 475 01 (03) Britney Spears 'Toxic' 506' All of the top 3 going into the final get over 400 points, but last year's winner falls to 3 as two female pop star favourites storm past The Killers, the genuinely amazing Toxic, and a song I never knew was so popular in What You Waiting For, a nice enough tune but beating Mr Brightside? Up to you guys I suppose. Both Toxic and What You Waiting For were voted for by 35 out of the 44 voters, while Mr Brightside only managed 33.
July 8, 201213 yr The Knife :( and i think Kelis may have suffered from having 3 songs in the draw as well unfortunately
July 8, 201213 yr The Knife :( and i think Kelis may have suffered from having 3 songs in the draw as well unfortunately The Knife had ridiculously concentrated votes. 7 top 2s (with 5 putting it top) and only 14 votes, 3 less than anyone else in the top 20. It was the pretty clear indie favourite, obviously. Kelis' votes were pretty split, people were mostly a big fan of one of her songs, gave low votes to another and ignored/near ignored the 3rd.
July 8, 201213 yr Everytime  Hey Ya! was the worst song of the bloody round though, ew. Gutted Unwritten and Leave (Get Out) came so low too :(
July 8, 201213 yr Author 2004 is generally one of the years where the same few songs do well so no real surprise it's mainly static. Pleased 'Take Me Out' made it through again and another good showing for 'Heartbeats'.

In every pop music 'circle' I've ever moved in, 'What You Waiting For?' is upheld as a bonefide pop classic. Which is fair enough because it's bloody brilliant.

I've missed that hype then. I don't mind it at all, I do quite like it, but I've never gone out of my way to listen to it (aside from when adding this up to try and understand the hype).

July 9, 201213 yr I never have and never will see the mass adoration in 'What You Waiting For?'. Ugh. Nice to see Britney climb (even if it's just one place!) with 'Everytime'! :D (And safely in the play offs again!) The Killers, I've stated my love for that far too many times on here and woo for 'Toxic' getting there I guess. 'Hey Ya!' is terrible though. 'Love Machine' is also overrated (in terms of Girls Aloud songs). Can't we swap that for Kelis 'Millionaire' and swap 'Hey Ya!' with 'All These Things That I've Done'? It's an injustice as to how them 2 finished below 'Milkshake' :puke: (Well it's terrible how 'Milkshake' finished as high as it did anyway, when it shouldn't be there at all. :( ) Lovely to see 'Try' finish in the play offs this time though! Listened to that again the other night and saw youtube comments in regards to the "Fifty Shades..." series. What's the link from the books to this song?

July 15, 201213 yr SORRY but how in the hell has (the incredibly tacky) Love Machine beaten stone cold pop classics like Left Outside Alone, Millionaire etc? Proof that Girls Aloud are and have always been MIGHTILY overrated by the gays!
