How sad to see Eminem & Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie decreasing!

08. Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm

10. Katy Perry - Wide Awake

These both are performing identical tbh, both seem to not be able to break the top #06 on iTunes and I think Wide Awake might be a bit too late, as it should drop out the top 10 with new releases tbh.

13. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe

16. David Guetta & Chris Brown - I Can Only Imagine (This should also go top 10 :o )

20. Adam Lambert - Never Close Our Eyes

33. B.o.b & Taylor Swift - Both Of Us :cheer:

37. Eminem & Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie

There's so many songs that have outstayed their welcome it's ridiculous.

'Drive By', 'Somebody That I Used To Know', 'Bangarang', 'Sexy And I Know It', 'Domino', 'Mama Do The Hump' ... I could go on.

You can add Starships to that list aswell on a different note Starships has spent 21 consecutive weeks in the in the top 10 in America  they must be sick of it

If it's still top 10 then I don't think they can be too sick of it. (I'm not sick of it, but it would be nice for it to fall out of the charts soon) I don't like it when a song takes too much time in the top 40. I wouldn't mind if it was just the one song, but so many songs seem to spend 15+ weeks inside there! It's ridiculous. But the one song I really wish would FOAD is 'Somebody That I Used to Know'. It was never "good" in the first place. So dull and dreary and bleh. (Catchy though - but so are illnesses!)
Not pleased to see No Hope at #50. It has to remain officially Top 40 by Sunday. :(

Damn Adam slipping quite alot now, still hope it can cling onto Top 15 somehow officially

Bad stuff.

Anyway, is that Tulisa up 5 places, Pound the Alarm stuck at 8, and Chasing the Sun back in the top 40?

I read that Starships now has the record for most consecutive weeks in the top 10 for a song that debuted in there (I Gotta Feeling held the previous record)! :o

I think it's going to make the year-end top 10, which is very weird for a song that only peaked at #5. I doubt that's ever happened in this country before.

Plus the success of Starships in the US is also very interesting as it is not the sort of song that American people like (and 21 weeks long) :o

What are you talking about?

Chasing the Sun never left the top 40.

Are you being serious? It sounds like Till the World Ends, California Gurls, Raise Your Glass, Dynamite, etc. American people love that type of music!!

03 03 Gotye featuring Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know

04 04 Katy Perry - Wide Awake

06 05 Ellie Goulding - Lights

05 06 Rihanna - Where Have You Been

09 07 David Guetta featuring Sia - Titanium

I thought it's more europop from US artists. Of course they like it, but not that much to have such a longevity. Maybe the taste of US people has changed

for 5-10 years ago a song like Niggas In Paris would have been number 1 for 10+ weeks in the US. Where has it charted now?

Actually it has, LeAnn Rimes How Do I Live only reached #7 in 1998 but managed to be #6 on 1998 end of year chart

Oh I never liked that song :(

Niggas in Paris got to #5 I think (same as Starships, but not as much longevity ). It peaked at #2 on iTunes, but that thing called airplay. :drama:

No offnse, but you do realize the US charts have been like this since 2007/2008? I think it was probably surprising to people when SOS and Sexy Back got to #1. It shouldn't be surprising in the slightest anymore.

Before 2005, they didn't include digital downloads in the chart, so the US chart was basically just an airplay chart. Songs like Niggas in Paris would get to #1 easily, because pop, rhythmic and urban radio stations would all be playing the song at the same time, so those types of songs would peak really high in airplay, and therefore get to #1. However artists like Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5, etc. would have lower peaks, but more longevity, because pop radio would play the song early, and then a few months later adult contemporary stations would start playing the song, and keep the song up the charts longer.

Now, it's the other way around. Songs like Niggas in Paris, The Motto, etc. got played on urban and rhythmic early, and pop radio only picked them up 3-4 months later. For example, The Motto by Drake only peaked at #14, but I think it's likely to finish in the year-end top 30. So now it's those artists that are in the position that Maroon 5, etc. were in back in 2004.

Wow. What happened to cause that?

I was going to say, it's probably weird here for a song to peak higher in the year-end chart than the weekly one, but I guess Love the Way You Lie did.
