July 25, 201212 yr I agree about Nerina Pallot, though it could hardly be named 'Greatest Hits', as hers would fit on a CD single... :P Well she's released 12 singles according to Wikipedia - including my personal favourite 'Alien' - so a 'Best Of' wouldn't be out the question with some new material thrown on - maybe even a bonus disc with some rarities such as her original demo of Kylie's 'Better Than Today'?
July 25, 201212 yr They've probably all been mentioned by now, but the seemingly non-existent ones from the recent OCC top selling UK singles artists charts are: 10 RIHANNA 28 LADY GAGA 32 THE BLACK EYED PEAS 36 BEYONCE 49 DAVID GUETTA 55 KATY PERRY 60 COLDPLAY I'm also interested to understand if 'greatest hits' / 'best of' collections are now becoming less relevant in the download era, or do music buyers actually want a physical CD that contains singles that they may have primarily downloaded?
July 25, 201212 yr A performer or band brings out a Greatest hits at the end of their career surmising the best of their output like Abba Gold or Queen 'Greatest Hits'. Queen's "Greatest Hits" was released in 1981 - hardly at the end of their career!
July 25, 201212 yr Of those that haven't been mentioned AC/DC seem pretty obvious. Been going since the early/mid 70s are have the 2nd biggest selling album in the world. Multiple songs are instantly recognisable and bona fide rock classics. Not sure if they hold still hold the record for most UK hits without a top ten single as well. Usually I expect a 10 year career to be the yardstick by which time one can reasonably be released so Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Gaga are slightly optimistic suggestions but given the amount of tracks I'll let Rihanna off Also agree Muse, Coldplay, Rihanna, Linkin Park deserve one by now. Kate Bush needs an updated one
July 25, 201212 yr Isn't Katy Perry's greatest hits called Teenage Dream?! Surely a GH from her would just be that album with I Kissed A Girl & Hot & Cold added on?
July 25, 201212 yr purely because they are losing pace I would say the Saturdays 1. If This Is Love 2. Up 3. Issues 4. Just Cant Get Enough 5. Work 6. Forever Is Over 7. Ego 8. Missing You 9. Higher ft Flo Rida 10. Notorious 11. All Fired Up 12. My Heart Takes Over 13. 30 Days
July 25, 201212 yr scissor sisters could also be an interesting one: 1. Laura 2. Comfortably Numb 3. Take Your Mama 4. Mary 5. Filthy/Gorgeous 6. I Dont Feel Like Dancin' 7. Land of A Thousand Words 8. She's My Man 9. Kiss You Off 10. I Cant Decide 11. Fire With Fire 12. Any Which Way 13. Only The Horses 14. Baby Come Home
July 25, 201212 yr I can see a Saturdays GH coming very soon, and that's not necessarily a positive thing :P
July 25, 201212 yr I'd love an Usher greatest hits! JLS have already hinted that they will release a GH after their 4th album due November and then will go away for a year before coming back with a 5th album Edited July 25, 201212 yr by jay727
July 25, 201212 yr I'd love an Usher greatest hits! JLS have already hinted that they will release a GH after their 4th album due November and then will go away for a year before coming back with a 5th album An Usher one would be brilliant. He's had a long enough career for one now. For it to be a seller though it would need a killer single to lead it, otherwise it would bomb.
July 25, 201212 yr A Sean Paul one would be amazing (as well as the Usher one, suggested above). I don't think I like Sean Paul enough to listen to an album of his, but I'd definitely buy his greatest hits.
July 25, 201212 yr Chris Brown is due one too, LOADS of material. Kelly Clarkson would have a cracking one too, really diverse.
July 25, 201212 yr Don't laugh... But Avril Lavigne. 1. Complicated. 2. Sk8er Boi. 3. I'm With You. 4. Losing Grip. 5. Don't Tell Me. 6. My Happy Ending. 7. Nobody's Home. (maybe fall to pieces) 8. Girlfriend. 9. When You're Gone. 10. Hot. 11. What The Hell. 12. Smile. 13. Wish You Were Here. +2 new tracks.
July 26, 201212 yr Maybe we should turn this discussion on its head, and discuss which artists have had a Greatest Hits compilation out that didn't have enough material to warrant one? Any suggestions? Edited July 26, 201212 yr by Blackjane
July 26, 201212 yr For me, Alicia Keys should have one after her 5th album is released. 1. Fallin' 2. A Woman's Worth 3. Girlfriend 4. How Come You Don't Call Me 5. You Don't Know My Name 6. If I Aint Got You 7. Karma 8. No One 9. Teenage Love Affair 10. Like You'll Never See Me Again 11. Superwoman 12. Another Way To Die (duet with Jack White) 13. Empire State of Mind (feat. Jay-Z) 14. July 26, 201212 yr Maybe we should turn this discussion on its head, and discuss which artists have had a Greatest Hits compilation out that didn't have enough material to warrant one? Any suggestions? Anastacia. Love the album of course but she was only 3 albums and 5 years into her career-and she hasn't had one to speak of since. Also I know a GH is always the next step for an pop group splitting but All Saints doing onw after 8 singles seemed a step too far.
