Looks like we're in for yet another low selling number 1 if none of the new releases are number 1.

I had been pondering would the Darkness even manage a return to the top 75 album chart so i am completly stunned to see them in the Top 5,whether they will hold up or not is hard to tell but the end result will be them doing so much better than i expected.

Aidan Grimshaw i also hope can hold his position, a top 10 debut would be a great start for him.The battle for number 1 is extremely hard to call at the moment with Emeli and Bloc Party so close in sales, i would think Bloc Party fans would have rushed out aqnd bought the album on first day of release which would therefore mean Emeli may sell more consistently throughout the remainder of the week.

Excellent to see Aiden at 7 on the albums - i'm guessing he'll debut just outside the top 10 come sunday.

But excellent stuff - and very deserving the album is absolutely brilliant!

Emeli Sande is now 17,000 behind Adele in the YTD, so that makes her around 9k for the week so far. Bloc Party can be anywhere within that 9k with just 200 copies in it.

Taken from the OCC report.

edit, soz, I read that as 17k ahead, it should be 17k behind Adele.

Great to see Noel provisionally climb from 20-10. Has he been on a TV show or something else I missed?

His set for V-festival was broadcast on Radio...I think that is it though.

I really thought Bloc Party would (by default) have the runaway #1 album.

Thank God that's not the case :D

I can't believe Trey Songz is top 10 in the albums lol. That's another to add to this fast growing list of US R&B/hip hop artists benefitting from these really low album sales atm.

I was expecting more climbers/re-entries in the singles chart. Many by default, due to all the Olympics songs falling

Bloody hell Noel #10 :o This album is just staying around for ages :)

Given that 10k is about enough to get you T3 ATM :( , it's surely can't be *that* big a surprise?

Noel Gallagers album most certainly has staying power and also has very respectable sales to back it up, this album also appears to have some life left in yet, triple platnum looks unlikely but 750,000 total sales looks almost certain now.
According to MW, Simple Plan's last single to reach the Top 40 was When I'm Gone in 2003. I have the CD Single and bought on release week in 2008... Silly MW errors. :P

This is great and it's not far off celebrating 1 year in the chart!!! :D

Boooo at Emeli Sande overtaking Bloc Party! :'(

Devlin is probably gonna end up at #5

with Taylor rising to 3 or 4
