I'm just pleased Amelia will definitely be beating Marcus! :D I love it when someone does better than someone else who finished higher than them.

That's good within reason. If Amelia was terrible and Marcus was amazing I'd be fuming right now. As it happens Amelia is very good and Marcus, though entertaining on the show, didn't provide with his material.

'Seven Nation Army' and 'You Bring Me Joy' are both awful but for different reasons. 'SNA' because it completely killed all the energy that made the original amazing, 'YBMJ' because it's just a crap song. I don't know which one I dislike more.

To be honest, I've barely heard You Bring Me Joy, I was just going on her vocal ability being better than Marcus's. Not into Home Run at all. I'm with you on Wings being the best output though.

To be honest though, for me, none of it's a patch on Matt and Rebecca's stuff from last year.

Tbf, if Marcus was given the opportunities that Amelia had, he'd have been right up there with her. 'Seven Nation Army' was never going to hit the top 3. He should've been marketed as a Bruno-type in all honesty but then RCA are a shit label.

Clique up to #19!!!!!!! :w00t: :w00t:

Wow. Oh dear, Clique and Live It Up both in the top 20. Not a good week for Buzzjack. :kink:

I've got Amelia down to #3 in this update, but the top 3 are basically the same anyway, so they'll probably keep switching regularly.

PSY is now up to #33. It just went top 5 on US iTunes.

Pretty much the same for me. Wings and Home Run are both incredible songs. The other two I don't find awful, but I'm not really going to listen to them in my own time.

The top 3 aren't the same any more - the latest Kworb update has Amelia already down to 0.8875 and Ne-Yo at 0.9125. This bodes very well for 'Hall Of Fame' to make up the reported 6k gap (the second version is on around 0.1 as well).

 18. Clique - Kanye West, JAY Z & Big Sean

Can't believe this is still climbing :D

If we're going to rank X Factor 2011 debut singles, for me it'd go:

Little Mix - Wings (brilliant track and easily the best track listed here)

Amelia Lily - You Bring Me Joy (found it underwhelming at first, like it more now but chorus is so weak)

Misha B - Home Run (not too far behind Amelia Lily, got boring quick for me though)

Marcus Collins - Seven Nation Army (was never a fave of mine on X Factor and this cover was below average)

I'm hoping Little Mix can defy the odds and get a third top 3 hit at least with their next single. They're the only X Factor act from 2011 I have any real interest in. Misha B needs a killer tune to reignite the interest I had in her last year. Amelia was known as the big vocalist, so 'YBMJ' doesn't really do her vocals much justice - it could be performed by Sophie from last year instead and still sound almost exactly the same.

Not heard 'Clique' yet. Will give the iTunes preview a listen and see if I like. :D Is 'Gangnam Style' still iTunes top 30? It's top 5 in quite a few other countries iTunes charts (even US although that doesn't count for much now thanks to streaming sales). Hope this takes off in the next week or so - the video needs airplay. :D

I don't know why you would say "defy the odds" I fully expect them to easily get another number one with there next single, airplay seem to be loving them and they will have that vital xFactor apperance! i totally agree with your single rankings though!

Well I liked both You Bring Me Joy and Seven Nation Army! :D YBMJ is brilliant and the chorus is not weak! Marcus' version of SNA is my least favourite out of the 4 songs, but I still really like what he did with the song, and I don't think it ruined the original at all, as The White Stripes' version is still amazing.

Pfft, no way! First and foremost, Amelia can sing, Sophie can't.

Because post win, only Will Young and Girls Aloud had a good track record of hit singles.

Will Young = 6 consecutive top 3 hits from debut.

Girls Aloud = 7 consecutive top 3 hits from debut.

Leona Lewis = 3 consecutive top 3 hits from debut (not counting album tracks)

I guess Will and GA benefitted from the time they became famous. Reality TV seemed more genuine and they were given the opportunity to develope their sound/style post win. With X Factor, it's a one year shelf life unless you're really lucky.

'SNA' because it completely killed all the energy that made the original amazing,

If a cover can ruin the original version, then the song can't have been good enough in the first place.

Marcus Collins did a cover of a cover which is surely worse? I liked how in interviews he made it seem like he'd taken a rock track and changed it, when his cover was actually a note for note identical cover that an unknown artist recorded about 2/3 years ago.

I didn't say it 'ruined the original version', it's just a really bad cover.

That's an unfair comparison. Obviously WY and GA are going to have better track records on paper with their singles because of physical releases back then. The lack of downloads allowed WY and GA to chart high with every release (like every other artist back then). The likes of Leona and Alexandra have had brilliant track records of hit singles but obviously not every release would have gone top 3 because downloads started to dominate.

If physicals were still the dominant format, and downloads didn't exist, I bet 'All Night Long' and 'Better in Time' would have been #1s and the likes of 'I Got You' and 'Broken Heels' would've gone top 5.

White Stripes COVERED Seven Nation Army?
