September 9, 201213 yr I'm surprised Whistle is already in the YTD top 10. It's done well, but its chart run doesn't look THAT massive, compared to some of what we get these days.

September 9, 201213 yr Silly me, 'We Are Young' was only at #31 on Wednesday - so it's held strong all week. Anyway, 22-weeks straight now and still sounding incredible. Good on 'em.
September 9, 201213 yr I heard We Are Young on the school bus a couple of days ago, and fell in love with it again! One of my favourites of the year.
September 9, 201213 yr I cannot hear this song without thinking of the Eagle Eyed Cherry song. It's one of his more tolerable songs though. Wait, what? Does Whistle actually sample Save Tonight? Considering that was basically my fav song of 1998, I would have thought it would be better.
September 9, 201213 yr It does make you realise how many great #1 singles there have been this year in comparison to others. We Are Young, Paradise, Somebody that I Used to Know, Call Me Maybe...
September 9, 201213 yr I heard We Are Young on the school bus a couple of days ago, and fell in love with it again! One of my favourites of the year. Back when I was at school I'd hear stuff like The Kooks and Razorlight on the bus.
September 9, 201213 yr I'm surprised Whistle is already in the YTD top 10. It's done well, but its chart run doesn't look THAT massive, compared to some of what we get these days. Perhaps it's because it's dropped quite quickly after leaving the Top 10, so it gives the illusion that its sales don't quite represent its chart run.
September 9, 201213 yr It does make you realise how many great #1 singles there have been this year in comparison to others. We Are Young, Paradise, Somebody that I Used to Know, Call Me Maybe... Yes I agree - upto 2011 there have been some crackers (add Titanium too obvs).
September 9, 201213 yr 'We Are Young' one of my favourite #1's of the year. By the way is Janelle Monae going to be releasing anything here any time soon? My Top5 2012 #1's 1) Titanium 2) We Are Young 3) Spectrum (Say My Name) 4) Payphone 5) R.I.P Edited September 9, 201213 yr by kenukcsfant2012
September 9, 201213 yr Wait, what? Does Whistle actually sample Save Tonight? Considering that was basically my fav song of 1998, I would have thought it would be better. Flo Rida sampled basically my favourite song from 1998 (or around that time) in Sugar.

September 9, 201213 yr We Are Young seemed a bit out of place compared to the other songs when Scott was doing a 40-31 recap.

September 9, 201213 yr Wait, what? Does Whistle actually sample Save Tonight? Considering that was basically my fav song of 1998, I would have thought it would be better. It uses the same chord progression: Am/F/C/G. Also used in The Passenger by Iggy Pop, 9 Crimes by Damien Rice, and Alone by Heart.
September 9, 201213 yr It does make you realise how many great #1 singles there have been this year in comparison to others. We Are Young, Paradise, Somebody that I Used to Know, Call Me Maybe... It has been a good year for #1s, true. The irony being that most of those were originally released last year

Combining socially relevant lyrics concerning the contemporary British experience with complex, passionate music, they drew comparisons with both classic rock acts of previous decades--including Pink Floyd and Talk Talk--and more contemporary bands like Radiohead, while pursuing a more mainstream path than experimentally inclined millennial bands like Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black Emperor. - HMV Video here: 0NFV8dHrZYM track listing 1. September 9, 201213 yr Guess every teenage girl who is in love haven't yet bought this. I've noticed a lot of girls have Carly Rae Jepsen fringes now. It's like in 2010 when suddenly a lot of them were dieing their hair red (which I assume was something to do with Hayley Williams and Rihanna ).
September 9, 201213 yr It's been both a good year and a terrible year for number ones. The highs are much higher than usual but the lows? Jesus Christ some have been dreadful.
