What's the deal with The Vaccines? They're not even very good (by alternative rock standards) but all their songs go top 40, yet even Scouting For Effing Girls can barely scrape the top 75?

Discussion Thread Here

Sorry, can't do the recaps again, a bit busy with other stuff. Will definitely (probably) be back next week with them though :drama:

Fantastic to see 'Teenage Icon' scraping into the top 40, 4 top 40 hits without a top 30 for The Vaccines now!

All the "indie" kids at school love them, and they are quite popular amongst chart music fans.

It's a shame there's no sign of Avicii & Otto Knows but we need to hear those horrendous songs at #40 & #38. <_<
Sorry guys, I cannot be here with you for the chart today, but have fun with it! :cheer:
Hopefully we will have a few more replies to this thread this week. Please?

Last week's chart show thread had 11 pages, the weeks of the Telephone vs. Pass Out (it might surprise some people, but I was supporting Telephone for that week ), and Poker Face vs. Don't Upset the Rhythm had almost 50 pages.

It's a shame people on this forum can't show an interest in artists other than Lady Gaga.

Killer is actually quite decent IMHO, don't know why it's flopped, is it because that Fazer doesn't have a huge (awful) personality?

Fair enough, they're not that popular from what I can see though. I realise that it's not 1997 anymore, but if they were really popular, they'd get top 5s, obviously they're bigger as an album act though.

They are a nice reminder that the genre isn't completely dead to the mainstream. Unremarkable yes, but some darn catchy songs

What's the record for most top 40 hits without a top 30 hit? I imagine it's some rock band from the 90s.

Recap 40-36

36 169 02 Professor Green Feat. Sierra Kusterbeck Avalon

37 33 04 Porter Robinson Language

38 17 02 Fazer Killer

39 NE 01 The Vaccines Teenage Icon

40 35 11 will.i.am Feat. Eva Simons This Is Love

You can't listen to Kiss FM then.

Unfortunately it was on at work all last week so I've had to hear this and a load of other hideous old songs every two hours. :(

One advantage of doing some work from home, I always win the vote on what music or radio station to play :D

Trub is that the alternative scene is more vibrant and diverse than it ever was, ranging from iamamiwhoami to The Wknd. I wish some of the innovative and brilliant stuff would chart, rather than what sounds like Oasis Play The B-Sides Of The Ramones.

The Sunday Chart predictions thread could only muster 4 pages this week. Hope we can improve here.

Not surprised at Fazer's 21 place drop. Heard it for the first time today. Awful.

An amusing hit streak continuing for The Vaccines! "Teenage Icon" is nowhere near as good as "If You Wanna" or "Nørgaard"; better than "No Hope" though!

The Vaccines top fourty singles rank:

01. "If You Wanna"

02. "Teenage Icon"

03. "Post Break-Up Sex"

04. "No Hope"

Album Discussion Here

The track Fazer submitted for Rihanna's album was reggae-influenced he said I think, which I always like from Rihanna. I hope they choose it.

Yay for Professor Green!!! I'm impressed he got a 4th top 40 hit, considering his 2nd single only scraped top 40, even with a discount.
