September 17, 201213 yr Author Midweek Charts: Killers Battle to head albums countdown Source: MW Paul Willams The Killers look like heading for a fourth straight No 1 on the UK artist albums chart as Example tries to overtake The Scipt for a third singles chart-topper. The Las Vegas band's newly-issued Vertigo/Mercury set Battle Born surpassed 50,000 sales up to the end of business on Tuesday, giving it a 20% lead over the rest of the market, according to the Official Charts Company. A closer battle is playing out at the top of the singles market with The Script featuring will.i.am's Epic/Phonogenic single Hall Of Fame commanding a lead of little more than 2,000 sales in the week so far. In hot pursuit is Ministry of Sound act Example who has previously topped the singles chart with Chaged The Way You Kiss Me and Stay Awake and shows up as a new entry at 2 in the latest midweeks with Say Nothing. Behind The Killers on the artist albums midweeks is Pink with her brand new RCA set The Truth About Love. Her last album, 2008's Funhouse, give her a first UK albums chart-topper. Marking the 25th anniversary of its release, an overhauled Bad by Michael Jackson surfaces in sixth position. The original Epic album spent five weeks at No 1 in 1987 and is one of the 10 biggest-selling albums of all time in the UK. Following her chart-topping single Call Me Maybe, Interscope/Polydor's Carlt Rae Jepsen will register on the albums chart for the first time this weekend. Kiss is at 8 in the week to date, while the rest of the Top 10 so far takes in The Script's Number 3 (down 2-3), Young Turks/XL's XX with Coexist (1-4), Virgin act Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events (5-5), Columbia signing Bob Dylan's Tempest (3-7), Coldplay's Parlophone-issued Mylo Xyloto (4-9) and 679/Atlantic act Plan B's Ill Manors - OST (10-10). Brooklyn band Grizzly Bear and Seattle's Band Of Horses are both on course for new UK chart peaks. Grizzly Bear's new Warp set Shields is new at 11 on the latest Sales Flashes and will beat their current peak of 24 achieved by 2009's Veckatimest, while Band Of Horses' Columbia set Mirage Rock is 13. Their last album Infinite Arms reached 21 in 2010. A very busy week for new releases will also result in new albums from the following acts debuting inside or around the Top 40 on Sunday: Earache's Rival Sones, Aggressive Music's Richie Sambora, 100 Percent Records' Skunk Anansie, Ear Music's Marillion, Sony's Ben Folds Five, Interscope/Polydor's Nelly Furtado, Hassle's We Are The Ocean and Roadrunner's Down. Dappy's third solo single looks like giving him a third consecutive Top 10 hit with the AATW/Island-issued Good Intentions registering as a new entry at 8 on the midweeks. Meanwhile, Positiva/Virgin act David Guetta's She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) featuring Sia rises 14-10 with an 85% sales lift and his Play Hard track featuring Ne-Yo and Akon lifts 22-20 with weekly sales doubling. There is a 41% gain for Emeli Sande's Virgin-issued Our Version of Events, the song she performed at the Olympics closing ceremony. As a result it climbs 19-12 in the midweeks. Motown/Mercury act Ne-Yo's Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love) is static at 3 in the week so far, while Pink's RCA track Blow Me (One Last Kiss) rises 5-4 and Mercury artist Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together improves 7-5. Having debuted at 2 last Sunay, Xenomania/RCA act Amelia Lily's You Bring Me Joy now drops to 6 and Syco's Little Mix fall 407 with Wings. September 18, 201213 yr Author The album chart will be far more interesting this week, its a pity we don't get any mids on a Tuesday, as I love to see who has the #1 album today, hopefully the Killers gets it, they had promo over the weekend on JR show, P!nk can still do it as well. I can't really call it. I forgot to add Michael Jackson 25th Bad Anniversary album, it comes with a Bonus CD that is out this week, personally I can't see it top 10. It probably attract fan buyers for the bonus CD material. The Script are still #1 on the iTunes chart looks like they are settled in for another week, probably take a slight dip in sales, its basically doing the same as Spectrum.

September 18, 201213 yr I too hope the Killers can take number 1 and with decent sales to go with, i never rule Pink out of the battle but i think she will take runner up slot with the Script number 3. I hope Richie Sambora can manage a top 40 entry but it looks unlikely.

She seems to have done far more promo, whereas The Killers have only had J Ross, really. Although hopefully the announcement of an arena tour last week helped them. (It sold out o the first day i believe). I dunno the signs are just pointing towards a P!nk win. :(

September 18, 201213 yr I wouldn't be surprised if Pink beats The Killers; it's a similar situation to when Funhouse was up against the new Snow Patrol (given that the previous SP albums had been massive), everybody expected Snow Patrol to get to no.1, but Pink got there instead.

It's an interesting comparison but I don't think P!nk has the selling power to make #1 this week. HMV yesterday had her stocked below The Killers in the new releases, I'm guessing they have a pretty good idea of how it'll pan out.

Only worth because I think it's worth reiterating that he is a criminal, and anyone buying his record is supporting him - I could have chosen the arrest in April over an affray but sending threatening texts to girls shows him up to be the coward that he is.
