Really funny, people on here said Rihanna would have overtaken 1D by at least 10k.

Could go either way. 1D are on radio 1 the whole of saturday. B-)

It won't, look at the facts. Yesterday 1D had a 6K lead, today it is 'less than 250', they are already behind and losing ground at a faster rate than earlier this week. It can only go one way. Rihanna will be #1 on Sunday- end of.

It won't go either way though, Rihanna will get this with ease now

THE WHOLE OF SATURDAY :o When the Chart will basically be over. One Direction have this WON!

'Clique' already at a new peak and could well climb over the week :D Could outpeak 'Otis' now and become Kanye's third highest peaking hit of the decade as a main artist.

Yay at Adele being comfortably top 40 with 'I Can't Make You Love Me' and still holding up well on iTunes, hopefully she'll be up to 9 top 40 hits this week with both that and 'Skyfall' entering. 'Skirts' is also welcome to the top 40 although it'll drop out by the end of the week.

70k is great for Muse so far, hopefully that should put them in a position to be the year's second fastest sellers behind the Mumfords.

That means the #1 for this week is pretty much set in stone now.

I'm really glad Rihanna got #1 with this song. I honestly never thought it'd make it, let alone when released so early, especially since it isn't exactly another Only Girl/We Found Love.

The song still has a lot to live up to though. If it doesn't sell a million, it'll be seen as an "underperformance" probably.

Rihanna has had a million seller for the last 3 years (2009, 2010, 2011) if she gets another it would be just insane and probably unprecedented.

Honestly... It would be a an underperformance below 750K for me at least

Unless it turns out that on Sunday, Skyfall has kicked ICMYLM out! :P

Would be nice for Muse to beat the 110k that "Black Holes and Revelations" opened with. Their staying power really is strong, how many bands have had their last three albums make six figure openings?

What was in 2009? I'm only counting Love The Way You Lie (2010), Only Girl (2010) and We Found Love (2011) as her million sellers?

Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Take That :P Obviously excluding the various non-studio album releases by those three (and indeed Muse).

No way - it's all over. OD are *so* far behind on iTunes now that they have no chance of holding on.

With OD's physical sales & bundles now factored in, they have no more cards to play.

Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Take That :P

I wasn't saying none had done it, I remembered those three! Oasis as well. Kasabian are one of the unluckiest, "Empire" might have scraped it but their last two have been less than 10k short.

Very interesting update chart, I think. Jason Mraz at #6! :o Didn’t expect it that high at all. Nice to see Emeli Sande’s Read All About It (Part III) climbing again, and Nicki Minaj in the Top 20. Big drop for fun. after re-peaking last week, and Professor Green only just hanging on at #40, really hope it can climb a bit from there come Sunday. Not surprised that Rihanna is #2, didn’t think it would be number one yet, although certainly tomorrow if there is only a handful of sales between them. Diamonds has really grown on me; I think the only reason why I was a bit unsure about it was because it is very different from her previous lead singles.

My Top 10 album prediction was almost correct, just needed to swap Green Day to number 8, and stick Jonathan and Charlotte at number 5, kick DJ Fresh out of the Top 10. Surprised with the latter part, really thought DJ Fresh would be Top 10. Plan B down to #28 – falling quickly now, but I guess it has done much better than anyone, including Plan B, could have expected. Hope to see another single released from it. Glad to see a big drop for Ed Sheeran’s +, means Lana Del Rey will be able to overtake him again in the YTD in a couple of weeks. Not great to see The Vaccines, Rita Ora, and Two Door Cinema Club falling very fast this week.

They'd need to sell an extra 20-25k on Saturday alone, and that's on top of what they were already due to sell on Saturday.

The only way to beat Rihanna now is if they beg at least 20,000 fans to gift the track to their friends and family.

I see even radio 1 are rejecting OD - they're omitted the #1 position from their printable chart!

I'm being sarcastic, Rihanna easily has this won.

The Killers are a better example, as though their latest fell 6k short the 200k+ openings of the last 2 more than make up for that! But I think we should distinguish between The Killers/Muse as bands and Take That/1D as groups!

Oasis are kind of cheating by having split up  But they've produced another two six-figure openings ('Time Flies... 1994-2009' and 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' which may as well be Oasis) even since that.

But yeah, not downplaying Muse's achievements at all. Along with Coldplay, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Keane, possibly Foo Fighters etc. they seem to be easily one of the untouchable bands all but guaranteed a #1 with every studio album release.

Keane are getting more and more precarious with every release so I wouldn't be surprised if they lose their record with album 5 - they've sold no better than Green Day for instance but released in a far quieter sales period. Arctic Monkeys will probably be next to go although The Killers will be cutting it fine if they continue to release in Autumn. FF are supposed to be taking a break so their next one will be so highly anticipated I'd be shocked if they didn't make #1.

Mumfords seem to be the only obvious new addition to that list, Vaccines don't look like pushing beyond 50k any time soon. Florence if you count F+TM as a band.

Wow, what an update.

Singles: I'm surprised to see Jason Mraz as high as #6. With Taylor Swift's 'Red' still not top 40 officially, it'll take a lot of doing to take 'I Won't Give Up''s place in the top 10. Saying that, I'm confident it'll fall enough to only climb to #10-12; depends on Adele's 'Skyfall' success. Fantastic to see Rihanna only 250 copies behind One Direction now - surely now she's on course to sell 100k+ (if it was a 47-41k battle yesterday).

Albums: As expected really. Strange to think Pink is still ahead of The Killers - their chart runs of 02-03-03 and 01-04-04 respectively seem awfully strange; suggests Pink could end up out-selling them by the year end (at this rate). Shame to see, as people have mentioned already, the likes of The Vaccines, Two Door Cinema Club and Of Monsters and Men all falling - but with album sales on the up, even a low position still holds decent sales (compared to a few months ago).

Not sure about Mumford & Sons, this album was always going to be a massive #1 and album 3 will probably be big as well but past that I could see their career dying off a bit. I do agree re: Keane as well but if 'Strangeland' could still be a pretty easy #1 (albeit on a low sales week) without a top 40 single their name clearly still has some power. Coldplay, Arctics and The Killers I could see going until they split, certainly at least Coldplay.

There's also U2 who I forgot to mention, with 'Achtung Baby' being their only album since the very start of their career that didn't get #1 and that only missed out to Michael Jackson's follow-up to 'Bad'. Been a while since the last U2 album, I wonder what they're up to...

The loon in me wants to point out The Prodigy's 4-album #1 streak as well but realistically they're far from guaranteed #1 with their next release.
