I can't believe 'Red' is still as high as #26! Promo singles are usually well out of the top 40 a week after, aren't they? :o

 

Or at least have a big fall within the Top 40 if it debuted high (see David Guetta's Titanium). Did she perform it at the Teen Awards?

Why is it good to see a fake version of a song not out for another 5/6 weeks in the itunes chart - it means the real version will lose sales overall.

 

Why is the new 'Disclosure' single so high already - its only been playlisted on 1 Xtra - must be catchy?!

It just shows there's interest in the track. Although the poor performance of the remix EP to date contradicts that.

I suppose, it just makes me frustrated that the public cant buy them for so long! For Robbie it also means him being an 'older' artist and holding it back so long (even though its top 10 on radio already) it will peak high(with an X Factor performance) maybe even no1 and fall out of the top 40 within 6 weeks which is unhealthy for the chart imo!

Well OA/OS for older artists apparently results in career-ending megafloppage (Kylie, Madonna) so I find him holding it back to be rather wise.

I think #26 at this stage is quite poor for 'Red' to be honest, the far less UK-friendly 'Begin Again' was still top 40 at this stage and that didn't get as high as 'Red' did at its peak.

The Swedish House Mafia track appears to be gradually catching up Adele's Skyfall already on today's iTunes chart updates (now at 0.9000) - wouldn't it be ironic if another big midweek release failed to reach number 1 in its first full week? (although with the James Bond film not out for a few weeks yet, it could still make it in a later week even if it does miss out this week.)

 

PS: Why is Adele's name in block capitals on iTunes? I'm sure this must've been covered before, but it's passed me by.
