The guitar-synths in it sounds just like California Gurls or Brokenhearted by Karmin. It's like a bubble-gum pop song. The reason he's increased in popularity lately is because he stopped releasing songs like that.

I think his reputation has been brought up just by this era overall, looking and sounding more mature. 'Beauty..' still isn't really like anything from his last album.

Agreed, even though it's been a fair few weeks since We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together got into the Top 10, to me it still feels fairly fresh and that it's been in there for a fraction of it's time there in reality (slight exaggeration there). That's probably because to me, it hasn't seemed massively overplayed like a lot of long running Top 10 tracks are...

Beauty and the Beat is going to ruin his reputation a lot again I think. He recently got enough street cred to get #1 on rhythmic airplay chart (it's practically impossible for a white singer to even go top 10, so the fact he managed to get to #1 is absolutely mind-blowing, and an incredible achievement). And now he's released what sounds like a Katy Perry song, which will undo a lot of that. I think it'll go top 40 in the UK and top 10 in the US.

Justin Bieber doesn't have any street cred, look how long it took for his voice to break not to mention all the abuse he gets on daily basis.

He hasn't increased in popularity, he's actually experienced something of a sophomore slump since he's not actively catering towards his fanbase any more.

Leona still has Chatty Man tonight but 'Trouble' will be lucky to climb back into the top 10, although Conor Maynard benefitted quite a lot from appearing on Celebrity Juice - he went from #13 to #6 in 24 hours so the power of TV could work for Leona.

Maybe. I can't help but think even if it does manage to get back into the top 10 it'll just be a brief boost and it'll be out of the top 20 on iTunes this time next week.

Is Alan Carr really going to help Leona Lewis that much? how many viewers does that show get on average?
